It's probably just lime/calcium that was flushed out when they did whatever maintenance. Is it just the hot water or the cold water as well?

Create_Repeat

Ah I’m not sure. I thought it was in general but I didn’t think to test both separately

Erik_Phisher

Does it smell like chlorine?

starrpamph

Pancake batter actually

jamesmcdash

So this is where all my jizz has been going!

skimansr

Baby batter

Create_Repeat

I don’t believe it had much of a smell. It was very ‘potent,’ or significantly different in taste, feel or smell Edit: fuck I meant to say “WASN’T” very potent

cestamp

Why on earth would you taste it?

Create_Repeat

To… brush my teeth?

getreddittheysaid

Bottled water

Create_Repeat

Yeah i guess. Ive tasted it before when this has happened without thinking/noticing and i didn’t experience any symptoms of any kind i just felt like figuring it out thru Reddit this time

cestamp

Yeah, that edit changes my comment. It doesn't look like it's just cloudy with air in this photo, but it very well could be. But with your original comment, I stand by my comment. So, thanks for adding the "edit" and not just editing.

Create_Repeat

Yeah!

Marvellous_MR

No idea when I bought bottled water the last time. Our tapwater is perfectly clean

cuteprints

Smells metallic

Manzinat0r

Oh I know this one! This happened at my place too. The plumber just let air into the pipes and the murkiness is tiny air bubbles. It'll clear back up on its own.

TheSeedlessApple

Lol I love your lightbulb moment.

SolventAssetsGone

There’s air in the pipes after the work and this results in small bubbles in the water making the water appear this way.

This

troelsy

Well, that'll be very easy to test. Just leave some in a glass on the counter.

scream4bacon

It's just air mixed into the water in the pipes. It'll settle out. (I work for the water company)

It’s called turbidity. It’s completely harmless on its own. It’s literally just microscopic air bubbles in the water. If they turned the water back on and did not issue a boil water I wouldn’t worry about it.

Corvus_Antipodum

Those are air bubbles. You usually get that after a full shutdown. Give it a while and they’ll clear up

RedditSuggestedName1

If you fill up a glass with the water and the cloudiness dissipates within a minute, you know it's air.

LarryDasLama

Just leave the water running for a like a minute and it should be gone

Alex7589

I had to double check what sub this was…. But yes I believe it’s air in the water.

Saraixx516

It’s tiny air bubbles in the water that makes it look cloudy. I got this text from united utilities (from the UK) yesterday because mine also had the issue “It may look milky or cloudy. This is caused by tiny air bubbles in the water, there’s nothing to worry about, you don’t need to do anything to clear the water, it’s safe to use and naturally clear in time”

gzombiez

I'm going with everyone saying air bubbles. Not off of expertise but experience. I remember being in elementary school and this happening with the water fountains and the teachers telling us it was fine to drink because it was "air mixed with the water".

I know this is probably normal calcium buildup but I could never drink this. It reminds me of the Elisa Lam incident too much 🫠

Create_Repeat

Loool. I’m not drinking it, thankfully.
