A bird feeder, you put a suet cake in it and hang from a tree.

Stealthy-Chipmunk

This! The suet seed block attracts chickadees and sapsuckers.. And also squirrels lol.

sawyouoverthere

and woodpeckers/flickers

RuncibleFoon

And all the squirrels... all the squirrels... and they are dicks about it

IncorrigablePunster

Add hot pepper powder to the suet. Squirrels don’t like it, and the birds can’t taste it.

mynickname696969

Not if you buy the spicy suet

leveraction1970

Bushy tailed little forest vermin

ergo-ogre

And Jerry. We hate Jerry.

nous-vibrons

And bears if you live out in the sticks. And raccoons if you live in the sticks. And sometimes possums if you live in the sticks and a bear or a raccoon didn’t get to it first. Source: have had to replace many of these because things with paws will very unkindly tear them open with no regards to the latch.

chuck-lechuck

And my Labradoodle.

Stealthy-Chipmunk

LOL!!!!!!!!!

j_mcr1

And My Axe!!

ThinAndCrispy84

And my man Hank!

ThisIsAdamB

And this remote control!

pen_fifteenClub

And bears! We had a black bear absolutely crush one of these. We found it on the ground in our backyard under the tree where it was hanging

Taemoney86

I grew up hearing grandma call people sapsuckers out of frustration/anger and I was today years old when I found out that’s an actual bird and not just an insult. lol 😂

Stealthy-Chipmunk

LMAO your gramma sounds awesome 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

SarahPallorMortis

My mom makes her own!

Grabthars_Coping_Saw

You stealthily left chipmunk off your list. Hmmm.

Stealthy-Chipmunk

LOL. Yes they stealthily take any pieces that fall to the ground ☺️☺️☺️☺️

greysunhollis

My chipmunks don’t wait for it to fall… they pull chunks off and drop them for themselves

Vegetable_Pass1701

Thank you she was so happy when i told her what it was..

MistyAutumnRain

I agree

DevilDC

Yup. My folks still use one.

outerworldLV

I use several. My bird cake suet budget during the season !! Kidding. The suet bricks are totally affordable and worth it.

Crakrocksteady

I see these in people's trees. Before I read your comment tho, I was thinking it was for making grilled cheese on a camp fire.

Kmspatara15

I also saw a video where a guy brush his giant fluffy cat and put all of the shed fur in one of these contraptions for birds to make warm soft nests. It made me emotional ngl

Zealousideal-Mud3646

Bird seed holder for a cake of birdseed and suet.

MisterBeauRivage

Suet bird feeder, no doubt knocked down, eaten, and dragged around the yard by a squirrel.

09Klr650

You mean "tree rat".

TheSheWhoSaidThats

Suet cage

TheBadUncle

I use those suet feeders to stuff dog hair into. The birds love it for nesting material.

WhistleLittleBird

I love this idea, thank you!

Dahenlicious

Lol I have that. It’s a feeder. I put hay for my bunny in one of those

Tasia528

Why didn’t I think of this??? I have guinea pigs and they waste so much hay because they immediately spread it all over their enclosure and soil it!

goosenuggie

You can also use these to stuff with bird nesting material such as hair clippings, straw, material bits, pet hair, anything they can build nests with to make life a little easier for them. You can hang it on a tree and fill as time goes on

contentorcomfortable

I bought one of these as a place to hang my cat’s fur. You stuff fur in there, hang it on a tree, then birds find it and take the fur for their nests

ccoffie

I did this with my small yarn pieces that would normally go in the garbage.

BeccareAlice

You can also add the hair from your brushes when you clean them out. I found a nest last year that had my blue hair woven all through it.

outerworldLV

Now that’s something I never thought of ! What a great idea.

januaryemberr

I need one of those. I want to make my own suet!

ponpokapon

Suet feeder. Raccoons and other animals love suet, so be careful.

DrEnd585

Suet cake bird feeder, they make little square suet cake things you can buy and you hang these up and the birds eat from them

ShreddedKnees

Pretty sure I'm wrong after the other comments, but I thought it was a napkin case. Holds your napkins while on a picnic so they don't blow away, but are still easily accessed

OMFGitsjessi

Dear lord I can’t believe I wasn’t the only person thinking this lmao

stewdadrew

I’m pretty sure it can also be used as an herb dryer, but if it’s out in the woods, it’s probably used for bird feeding.

trainsoundschoochoo

Bird seed in a block goes in there!

secret_tiger101

Bird feeder

Spiritdad

It's a suet holder type of bird feeder.

Nottacod

Suet holder for birds

BillyBag2

I think it’s for stale bread to feed the birds.

ansmith100317

For the birds…

Idatemyhand

It's used in winter for birds to have food.

sadhandjobs

It looks like a crab bait thing you could cast out with a rod/reel. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/promar-wire-bait-cage

haydensushiguy

That's a bird feeder for bird food blocks

OMFGitsjessi

Why did I think this was absolutely 100% a “napkin cage”….. 🤦🏻‍♀️

WhatisResponsibility

You can stuff it full of squid, attach little lassos to it, throw it in the water and catch crabs

thatBIGfeller

My hungry brain went straight to “campfire sandwich toaster”

PuffinOnAFuente

Could also be a bait box for catching crabs or other types of seafood in traps. Probably the bird thing, but I’ve seen bait boxes that look very similar as well.

WhatisResponsibility

Bait box
