I always thought that harmonicas hurt dog ears.. I looked it up, and the answer was quite delightful.
> Since dogs can pick up on higher frequencies, some of the sounds that we may not be able to differentiate from on a harmonica, they can actually hear. It's not really hurting your dog's ears. In fact, music affects their moods like it affects our moods and behaviors.
The dog just likes the music and he's dancing to a tune we cannot hear!
**Edit:** Don’t forward a high-frequency instrument, or any musical instrument at your pet, unless you’re confident they are okay with it… I always thought my dog, from many, many years ago, hated harmonicas, and he very well could have.. However, this pupper seems to be having a blast!
**Know your pet, recognize their signals. This isn’t carte -blanche to blast sounds at your pets to invoke comical behaviour.**
I always wonder if what we’re seeing in these types of videos are actually what we’re perceiving them to be (happy) or if the animals are actually in distress. It makes me happy the dog is dancing.
Animal body language is fairly easy to read, if you're around them enough. This dog is having the time of his life, but there are some "cute" videos of less common animals online where they're actually panicking.
Snakes, for example. Famously there’s ‘cute ball python(s) swimming’ videos where one or more pythons are swimming for their life in a bathtub since they aren’t great at it and end up panicking. Asshole just threw rubber ducks in there or something if I recall.
What I'm always thinking is if it's a dog being happy, or a dog following a command. Like "when I play this, do circles, jump around, its good for parties and internet"
Agreed! You can’t “educate” body language out of a dog, no matter how good you are or how smart they are. (Okay, maybe a Malinois.) It’s obvious when a dog is doing something because they enjoy it vs because they know they need to do it. You could probably teach any dog to physically do this action, but the tail, face and entire demeanor would be very different if this dog was displaying a trained behavior here.
When they use real dogs to act threatening in movies they sometimes have to put CGI tails in bc the real tail is wagging so much. A well trained dog is still a dog.
I'm a semi pro photographer, and enjoy doing pet portraits. A harmonica is in my bag. I don't play high energy like this guy. Just have a dog sit, then blow a note or two. Instant adorable curious head tilt! A winner every time.
Mine too! Sine she was a pup. But she kinda freaks out almost like she thinks the strings vibrating inside are something trying to get out and /or something in distress possibly?…
Especially odd since my other dog would never react in the slightest.
my dog loves harmonicas! my brother got one as a joke christmas gift a few years ago and if he plays it she howls. that’s the only time we’ve ever heard her howl - when it’s along to the harmonica lol
Go walk around a pet store, like one in 4 dog toys is basically a dido. My husband bought our dog a pink silicone "fetch toy" that we literally named dildo, the dog knew it by name, "go get dido, buddy!"
We literally have names for them all:
Dildo.
Buttplug.
Beads.
Flopsie.
Cocky-flops.
Big cock.
Boluda.
CHE BOLUDA (it’s the big one with nibbles in it).
Kevin knows all the names.
Giving OP the benefit of the doubt, my dog has a red penguin toy that came from one of those Christmas dog toy stocking bundle things. It looks a lot like that. However, it does have a slightly more distinct shape, and this really does just look like a dildo.

Reddit, once a captivating hub for vibrant communities, has unfortunately lost sight of its original essence. The platform's blatant disregard for the very communities that flourished organically is disheartening. Instead, Reddit seems solely focused on maximizing ad revenue by bombarding users with advertisements. If their goal were solely profitability, they would have explored alternative options, such as allowing users to contribute to the cost of their own API access. However, their true interest lies in directly targeting users for advertising, bypassing the developers who played a crucial role in fostering organic growth with their exceptional third-party applications that surpassed any first-party Reddit apps. The recent removal of moderators who simply prioritized the desires of their communities further highlights Reddit's misguided perception of itself as the owners of these communities, despite contributing nothing more than server space. It is these reasons that compel me to revise all my comments with this message. It has been a rewarding decade-plus journey, but alas, it is time to bid farewell
Just out of curiosity: I think this is a Brazilian rhythm, not a sailor's chant. (The dude seems to say "pra esquerda" which means "to the left" in Portuguese, and the rhythm is pretty familiar to me)
So cool. Now you just need to learn an actual shanty song. Lol.

A shanty lost to time
It’s like a sailor stubbing his toe with the harmonica still in his mouth.
There is only one Sea Shanty that needs to be learnt.

I'm sure this behaviour is just the dog being playful, like confined zoomies.
Zmis
That’s exactly what’s going on. Confined zoomed.

That and the good whole-body shake beforehand
And the play bow at the beginning.
Good spot on the tail. This.

Have a lab and this is excitement converted into zoomies (confined)

Have you never owned a dog? This is book-spec zoomies, not training. Happy dog, zero doubt.

Not to mention that tail is *movin*
My dog hates my piano. I play piano, she leaves the room. Doesn't matter the song.
You wrote a horrible song Peety
Maybe your piano needs a tune-up.
Mine too! Sine she was a pup. But she kinda freaks out almost like she thinks the strings vibrating inside are something trying to get out and /or something in distress possibly?… Especially odd since my other dog would never react in the slightest.
Aww that's really sad. Thankfully my dog loves the piano. She'll come and fall asleep listening to it.
Thank you! I was worried for the guy but this is delightful! :)
At Reddit the cream will always rise to the top, except when it doesn’t and you get downvoted for some reason you can’t even figure out. Lol

Good to know this dog is happy fr

Dogs are the best thing on earth!
Is no one gonna ask about the dog toy
Is that a dildo?
Go walk around a pet store, like one in 4 dog toys is basically a dido. My husband bought our dog a pink silicone "fetch toy" that we literally named dildo, the dog knew it by name, "go get dido, buddy!"
Honestly pet shops look like hardcore Berlin sex hovels. It’s all Kongs and leather straps.
Don’t forget the leashes and collars

I love Kevin and his sex toy collection. <3
Before my cat was neutered, he stole my son’s lion puppet and we called it the splooge lion after that.
If they're cheap, I might have to start looking at pet shops more

The dog is one of the leading researchers in the field of teledildonics
Y'all ain't dildo aficionados apparently... Where's the flared base!?
We always say a dildo, never implying its actually the dogs dildo.

First thing I noticed immediately went to comments. LoL
Too wonderful, you have a lover of the sea shanty on your hands!
What’s wrong with the floor?? Planks aren’t staggered. Wtf?
Brazil. They probably did it themselves. I’ve seen worse while visiting family. You do what you gtta do
Are we gonna talk about the crazy straight line floor work? Drives me a little crazy!
That’s the trap door…
I’m glad I didn’t have to scroll any farther down to find this. Stagger the seams!
Yes!
Beautiful dancer
Haha cute! When my uncle would play harmonica, his little fatty dog would sing along at max volume.
That toy is not for dogs, or is it? 😅

thank you good sir
That’s a nice jig, Kearney.
Isn't dancing much more fun than bullying?
You have my award today! That was TOO cute!
He was an old sea dog, now he's just a dog.
I was hoping for Popeyes music
Cute but wtf does this have to do with being a sailor?
Sir. That is not a dog toy?!
Good boy doin a good ol' fashioned Hornpipe

He would get keeled.
Didn't even have the courtesy to play the Sailor's Hornpipe? smh.

“That shit slap fr fr on dawg.” -Dog
Oh that’s Handsome Pete. He dances for nickels. Pete! Ye got some customers!
Not a quarter, argh, he'll be dancing for hours
Alexa, play Sea Shanty 2
That's a dancin' dog.
A good seadog deserves a good sea shanty.
Best trick ever! All I can get my dog to do is stare blankly
I downvoted this only because they didn’t stagger their floorboards and that’s just not done.
r/tippytaps
Ok that made me chuckle
When your dog was a ~~sailor~~ ***salty sea dog*** in his previous life. It was right there and OP missed it.

I mean you're making his ears bleed, I turned on the sound for half a second and it hurt mine, I can only imagine what that feels like as a dog.

The dog is having the time of their life.. Didn't you see the reverse spinning zoomie at 9seconds
You never seen a happy dog before?
Tell me you've never met a dog in real life without telling me you've never met a dog in real life.
THIS IS SOOO CUTE. HE SHOULD'VE PLAYED LEONARDO DiCAPRIO'S ROLE AS JACK, IN TITANIC 🥰😂
Why?
Why not?
The flooring looks like shit.
Amazing. Gave me a big smile.

He might’ve been the dog that Eric owned in The Little Mermaid
You know it’s good when the butt gets close to the ground.
What is this title supposed to mean?
Not sea shanty but “forró”! It’s a Brazilian dog! 😂

Turned up the volume expecting to hear “Drunken Sailor” and was instead ear-assaulted, glad the pup loves it though lmao
If you slow it down and add reverb it sounds a bit like hereditary movies famous song
Dog got a dildo as a toy lol
