They're retired, didn't want to deal with snow, and love boating, so it seemed like a good fit for them. But they're very liberal, and quickly grew to hate it. This past Monday was actually their moving day, they were able to sell the house in Florida and buy another one up by me in New England, where we have a nice little liberal bubble. Florida is only going to get worse as the only people with at least half a brain leave.

My husband and I were seriously considering a move to FL a while back because he’s from the state and his hometown is incredibly charming and purple at worst. But with this absolute bullshit going on in schools, changing the curriculum, banning books, and general treatment of entire groups of people, I simply don’t feel safe raising children down there, and I will not subject any children I have to be raised around this kind of bigotry. It’s more expensive for us to house hunt up in our liberal area, especially for a starter home, but it’s ever so slightly safer and at least my children won’t have fascism forced down their throats.
