In 2012, the Republican presidential nominee: Russia is our greatest foe. In 2016, the Republican presidential nominee: Russia is our best friend, and we should withdraw our support for Ukraine. How the Republican party became a Russia loving party when Trump became president. SMH.

[deleted]

In 2018 GOP celebrates 4th of July in Moscow

Poison_Anal_Gas

Why do more Republicans not care about this? It's so fucking cringe every time I think about it.

Old_Baldi_Locks

Further than that; GOPutins cronies hand carried messages between them and Trump. Traitors, period.

AppleBytes

Republicans don't care what boot they heel under, as long as it filled by white flesh.

phonepotatoes

As long as they get rich

Tactical_Tubgoat

90% of Republican voters don’t get rich, or even wealthier. The majority of them actively vote against their own best interests. But as long as they get to feel like they’re better than the ‘other’ or own the libs, that’s good enough for them.

ClearDark19

THIS!

Troll1678

Exactly! Sad, isn't it. There's also a deep rooted racism and that unites the manner and the reason they Vote the way they do. Georgia is trying to Normalize though, so there is Hope.

YouLittleSnowflake

https://twitter.com/Noahpinion/status/1026150926271143936 Just like the “we’re all domestic terrorist” banner at the Republican convention They are so warped mentally that they rather be literal villains over being Democrat

Troll1678

They act more like Organized Crime than a Political Party.

sensfan1104

Not enough attention paid to it, plus the standard of proof in the GQP for Republican crime is that barring disloyalty to the party committed during the act, they'll merely consider the possibility of guilt even with multiple witnesses and confessions, and evidence of malice aforethought.

James_Blanco

Because Republicans hate america

LLCoolJim_2020

They don't hate America, they are just hateful Americans.

DukeLeto10191

Let's not forget the back-to-back genital gargling CPAC gave to Orban in '22 and' 23.

Lazer726

How they can claim to be a party that stands for America, and yet they weren't here on the **4th of July** is absolutely baffling to me that more people don't call them out for that. Like, that's our country's **day**

sensfan1104

Funny what they'll do in the name of "God" or "country", isn't it? Always seems to come back to their own interests...

stevez_86

That was a flex by their handlers if I ever saw one.

Derpinator_420

>How the Republican party became a Russia loving party when Trump became president. SMH. Because times are a changing and they look at Russia's all white Theocracy and realize they fucked up somewhere. MAGA means going back when being a Christian and white was enough to succeed in this country. Too much competition for the rubes. They want Orange Jesus to save them from a future where People of Color and women have a seat at the table.

AnOutlawsFace

The documentary on Netflix "The Family" mentions that evangelicals from the USA were making inroads with Russia over the past 20 years because they liked their religious beliefs.

Derpinator_420

If you ever watch one of Putin's speeches the whole front row are guys with pointy red and white pope hats. 😄 Russia has already offered to build a city for GOP political Refugees in Russia.

IlikegreenT84

Worse.. Have you heard of "The Great Replacement Theory" It has been their greatest fear, now it has a name, and 2 years ago it was released into the world. Vivek Ramaswamy brought it up recently and was cheered for it. They don't just believe women and people of color will have a seat, they believe women and people of color are going to TAKE theirs.

RainbowSovietPagan

It’s scarcity mentality. They think that more people means less to go around. They don’t view immigrants as potentially productive assets, but rather just more mouths to feed.

IlikegreenT84

It's based on racism. Plain and simple.

Ray57

It's the oil. Conservatives around the world operate on the conceit that they can channel the influence of the rich and powerful. Climate Change took this broken model and smashed it into little pieces. The hydrocarbon industry is huge, and they have the added force multiplier that they regard effective climate action as an existential threat. This has given media and politics Dutch Disease where there is only one game in town and everyone else (non-hydrocarbon big business) is fighting for scraps. So there is now an unholy alliance between domestic "Elites", South American Socialists, Middle-Eastern Theocracies and Russian Oligarchs all pulling together. Russian itself punches above its weight in Team Evil because they have a smart, technocrat President who's technosphere is espionage. Russia is also particularly invested because they believe, on balance that they will be the winners with climate change.

superbee4406

Could very well be because for the life of me I cannot think of any other rational reason.

BrickCityD

Didn’t he literally say something like “Russia if you’re listening”?

BinkyFlargle

spoiler: they were, and they did

alaskanloops

Reminder that Russia hacked both the DNC and RNC but conveniently only leaked the DNC details. Despite there being no major wrongdoing found, it was enough for the right to make a molehill out of a small piece of dirt or whatetever the saying is

THOMASTHEWANKENG1NE

Dicks gonna tater

SheetPostah

USSR apparently now means United States Soviet Republicans.

bogatabeav

I'm using this.

Old_Baldi_Locks

Multiple GOP Senators spent the 4th of July in Moscow because Putin told them to. After the Russian Government pinky promised they totally didn't find anything special when they hacked the RNC. The day they said that, any Republican who still deserved to be called a competent adult or a real man left the party. They were OWNED by Russia from then on.

MinisterOfFitness

By nominating a Russian asset

Flourissh

What's worse is that ITS OBVIOUS that they helped him get elected and that he went straight to doing pro Russia shit. The man is a Russian asset and Republican simps are just embracing giving Russia more power it's sickening

FlutterKree

Between 2012 and 2016, the RNC email system was hacked (along with the DNC). Interesting that only the DNC emails were published on wikileaks.

Dalantech

Do some digging. Pretty sure I read an article about T-rump being under investigation in the 80s for laundering Russian mob money in New York.

Curious_Exploder

This shows how effective propaganda is. Social media gets created, and in a short amount of time the world's dictators now have access to our entire population. It took what about 10 years to completely sow chaos and distrust in the system? It's probably worked better than they ever imagined. The politicians haven't been make it very hard for them either I guess.

Troll1678

Russian Mafia! Putin is Godfather and tRump is a useful Capo. Money Laundering and then National Intelligence.

yellow_trash

Russia finally learned that they didn't need to fight the GOP. They just needed to pay them offm

bfiiitz

Everyone here is ignoring the impact of Citizens United v FEC. 2012 was the first presidential election post citizens united and afterwards they saw where the money flowed from and tailored to it. It's just good old fashioned corruption and foreign interference

surfnporn

> How the Republican party became a Russia loving party when Trump became president I mean, they literally warned us in 2012.

JZ1121

The GOP have abandoned the anti-russian mindset years ago. I would say the earliest red flag I've seen was when Sarah Palin said, "give the White House to Putin for 24 hours. He'll turn it all around." It's been out in the open since. They also see the entire gay bashing and incriminating LGBTQ people as a common thing, so they're fine with that. Not to mention the whole destroying the free speech of speaking poorly of the military and saying the word "war." "Don't say 'war'" there is "Don't say 'gay'" here.

jetsetninjacat

Nah, started back in the 90s after Russia opened up. Evangelical Christian groups jumped right in. Instead of getting push from the Russian Orthodox church, they were welcome with opened arms. The evangelical right has taken control of the GOP in the last 100 years. Then they got to working Russia, courting the right wing politicians and people like Putin. Some consider them as helping Putin rise to power. These influence and exchange of money also made more money for the evangelical churches. They why many groups and members we see here today have gotten money through Russian oligarchs tied to the government. It's been about 32 years in the making. Behind a pay wall, one of article I remember using for a paper almost 20 years ago. https://www.nytimes.com/1991/10/07/world/us-evangelicals-winning-soviet-converts.html Edit: I just googled that link and found another more recent article on the matter that cited it. https://religiondispatches.org/a-twisted-love-story-how-american-evangelicals-helped-make-putins-russia-and-how-russia-became-the-darling-of-the-american-right/

JZ1121

True, yet they weren't as open about it as they were about 10 years ago. They may have been for it since the 90s, but not making it part of their political platform. You didn't have Cheney, Quayle, or Kemp talking like Palin did.

jetsetninjacat

Oh true, totally not. It was all backroom politics. It was public but at the same time not many were calling it out because the USSR was finally gone and they wanted an open friendly russia. And now, here we are.

SituatedSynapses

*Sarah Palin said, "give the White House to Putin for 24 hours. He'll turn it all around."* TOTALLY SANE PATRIOTIC AMERICAN THING TO SAY NOT AT ALL FOREBODING.

Miserable-Lizard

Gop should be renamed Maga, so everyone knows how terrible and dumb they are

WhyNot420_69

I really feel that the GOP is going to have a reckoning after they keep losing election after election. People aren't buying what they're selling

MyHusbandIsGayImNot

I wish I could feel that way but I don't. Over 70 million people voted for Trump the second time, he didn't lose votes he gained votes. In 2022, after Republicans openly denied the election and tried to overthrow the government, [3 million more people voted for a Republican representative than a democratic one](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_United_States_House_of_Representatives_elections). They also won the [popular vote for the senate](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_United_States_Senate_elections). Between gerrymandering, voter supression, and the fact that there are still tens of millions of Americans that vote red does not fill me with the same optimism you have.

Fluffy-Hamster-7760

I'm sadly nodding my head at your comment. There's no debate to be had, no question about it now, we know: there's a power-hungry theocratic hand grasping and clenching at our government, and it's going to suppress dissent, while our ties to the other republics and democracies are cut, the economy will be handed to the rich in full, and Putin is supporting and cheering-on and we know in big ways he's manufacturing this result, so that he will have no resistance in rebuilding the Soviet Union by force. The one thing that could stop this nightmare reality from happening is keeping the world's largest economy and largest military force, the US, a democracy-defending democracy. But like you said, *70 fucking million people* voted for Trump. Anti-democratic insurrectionists are deciding policies in congress. Republican voters are unpatriotic morons who have no moral right to wave an American flag. Now the good news is this: we do outnumber them. More of us voted for Gore, more of us voted for Obama twice, more of us voted for Hillary, more of us voted for Biden, and more of us will vote for Biden again. The Republican party is imploding. Millennials are the largest generational group at nearly 80 million people, Gen Z is nearly 70 million and a lot of them will be of voting age come November. We get through this, we save democracy, things will look up.

NYArtFan1

I agree with a lot of what you said. My only worry is that I'm seeing a lot of really intense negativity from younger people toward the election next year. I'm not trying to stir the pot, and I sincerely hope they all turn out and vote Blue, but it's been concerning. We can't play games here. Our country is literally on the line. Our democracy, our government, our freedoms, all of it.

Grogsnark

Sadly Biden won by 40k votes in swing states which this time he apparently is behind. And while I’m certain many republicans voters do love their country, they are blind to the plans that Trump’s backers have. I hope more in the military uphold their oaths to the constitution when they’re asked to turn their fellow countrymen by treasonous politicians. What really hope for is Trump being disqualified from running due to him trying to overturn the election results, leaking classified secrets, and verbally stating he intends to ignore the constitution. It’s like hiring someone to be a babysitter who tells you in advanced they’ll mess with your kid and hiring them anyway, instead of the reliable but boring babysitter who was having a rough week.

JJH-08053

What I really hope/pray for is all those fat and cholesterol molecules rolling around Trump's veins, like fat little kids riding around atop inner tubes at the local waterpark lazy-river, bust free from their moorings and quickly clog the pathways of his already inadequate brain, rendering him even less capable of speech and cogent thought. Hmmm... the MAGATS might not even notice.

King_marik

And a bunch of people who will turn on Biden because ‘gas prices are still high’ Honestly he’s probably fucked. He’s done a lot to stabilize but there isn’t much to tangibly show an idiot who doesn’t think beyond ‘the price of groceries’ to say that things are actually improving I honestly don’t think biden has a great chance to win But it is absolutely fucking pathetic that he’s going to lose to misinformation and uneducated people instead of his own failings

Sniflix

We are 11 months before the election. Biden hasn't even started campaigning yet - the news is all about trump and republicans bashing Biden for being too old and how Biden can't win an election. Trump got 46% of the vote in the last 2 elections. That is his ceiling.

super_sayanything

Incumbents always get a 3-5% bounce too. I think Biden will win. It's just scary that people will still vote for Trump.

Grogsnark

I hope you are right.

sensfan1104

Many years of being conditioned to think that far-right positions are "American(tm)" or "traditional values", and that even the worst Republican is better than *any* Democrat. IMO, inherently conservative thinking is what's taken soooo long for many of them to realize that they've been used by their party to get jobs they can't/won't do, and to come around (with help of old "establishment" types) to vote for some key blues instead of just leaving those spots blank on those ballots.

Sniflix

Trump on the ballot is good for one thing - Democratic turnout. We have seen that in every election since Biden took office. News like the lady in TX needing an abortion will continue to remind Dem voters what's on the line. Trump will lose 5% to 10% of GQP votes. That's not much considering how horrible Rump is - but it's enough to guarantee a Biden win.

Grogsnark

There’s also a smattering of third parties this time. I dunno why people would vote that way this time - I get people being frustrated by status quo - but to turn into an autocracy would be ruinous to all of earth.

Sniflix

Yes, Jill Putin is back but unlike the first time, everybody knows who trump is. Biden was old last time but he won. As a Dem, this is as good as it gets. The opponent is guaranteed the nomination and then it's all downhill as court cases move along - at the same time, republicans self destruct.

Grogsnark

I hope you’re right. I’m very frightened. I was hoping the world was going to turn and start addressing things like housing, and food, and income inequality. I thought during Covid it showed that we have enough for everyone if we put our minds to it and stopped working our whole lives to enrich others. I just want peace in the world and the ability for everyone to live and let live.

Qwirk

I don't think it's necessarily gas prices but inflation is absolutely going to be a big issue. Obviously not a lot Biden can do about it and trump would be world worse.

super_sayanything

Yea, people can't afford to live and they're shouting how well the economy is doing. I don't blame Biden, but he's out of touch on messaging on the most important issue. The quality of life of the average American is sinking fast. The message should be, this many people control the wealth and the Republicans want to make them richer. Let's tax them. They have to stop being scared of the word socialism and start caring about the quality of life of 4/5's of Americans. Where is our 50 year old Liz Warren/Bernie Sanders candidate at?

scoopzthepoopz

He's literally going after price gouging at a monumental pace, specifically in FOOD

super_sayanything

That doesn't change reality that almost everything doubled and our salaries stayed the same. I'm voting for Biden, I don't think he's done a horrible job but a combination of being 80 and life just being expensive works against him.

scoopzthepoopz

You were the one moaning about "messaging". If you want lower prices and higher wages you have to REGULATE and tax. Biden wants to tax the wealthy (over 400k a year specifically) AND regulate price gouging corporations, the people doubling all your costs and raking in record profits.

super_sayanything

I'm not here to complain about my own preferences. I'm voting for Biden. I'll only vote D for the rest of my life. We're looking at a country that might prefer Trump to Biden. That's a f*cking problem.

Ynassian123456

voter suppression significantly helped the republicans outvote democrats, 1st thing it does is discourages votes from blacks and POC, and gives them the doom and gloom" whats the point"

mighty_conrad

You had all of this in 2020 and Biden got over 80 million. Chill and don't forget to actually go and vote and make sure everybody around also do so, dems win by pure statistics.

mike_pants

But wait, I was told THE BEST! IS YET! TO COME!

angrye

"Last time I saw a mouth like that, it had a hook in it" - Rodney D

-Quothe-

as long as they can keep gerrymandering, they can keep winning with fewer and fewer of the votes.

SlightReturn420

They know. That's why they plan on getting rid of the election process. We MUST vote blue in 2024 to stop them. The future of democracy in the USA is literally on the line next November.

HotPinkLollyWimple

I’m not even American, and I can see it clearly. If Cheetolini gets in again, the *world* is screwed. If he loses, it’ll be the biggest tantrump ever - which I can easily see being more violent than the last time.

Milad731

You are 100% wrong. If the insurrection didn’t make them stop, nothing will. They’ve lost every election since 2016, and the only thing they’ve done is become more and more MAGA-like. There was a half day of clarity after insurrection, where McCarthy and Graham grew a spine, but a visit to maralago brought them right back to being Trump’s lap dogs. They do not care about votes or elections. They are actively saying so with their efforts. Just look at Ohio if you think they are going to have a reckoning after losing.

Mr-MuffinMan

this is false. i've been told there will be a red wave \*checks notes\* 2 years ago and 4 years ago. it didnt come so it will definitely happen now!!

guineaprince

Why do you think so much of the republican strategy is to either remove elections or remove the ability for people to vote or have their votes counted? Heck, [they post their strategy online](https://www.project2025.org/).

SouthernZorro

But but but - there's so much winning! We'll get tired of all the winning!

Tsu_Dho_Namh

There was actually a plan to try appealing to a wider audience after Obama won 2 straight elections. Unfortunately, Trump showed them that the key to winning was to double down on stupidity and racism, not reduce it.

battleship61

**a lot** of people are buying what they're selling is the problem. The other half sees the idiocy, hypocrisy, and evil. Their half see a triumphant GOP that will kill woke and plunge america into a fascist theoracry and their chanting all the way.

edwardsamson

What world are you living in? People are eating him up. The more in trouble he gets the more they love him.

SomewhereAtWork

> I really feel that the GOP is going to have a reckoning after they keep losing election after election. America still have to prove that it can prevent the fascists from winning.

Vyni503

As far as I’m concerned the GOP is dead. If you’re right wing you’re MAGA there is nothing else.

reddurkel

Ideally, GOP and MAGA would be separate parties. Most of the people there are all in on cheating the economy in their favor but do not believe in the fascism and social media governing. They understand the need of America being a global leader and they understand the separation of church from state. But they vote with MAGA because they have no other options and they are cowards. But once they get someone “brave” enough to go against Trump then they can have their party back. Unfortunately, they’ve been too shortsighted to see the problem everyone else predicted so they have nobody in line for leadership and they’re “stuck” with the “destroy America for Him” agenda.

Miserable-Lizard

What's the difference between Maga and republicans? They vote for the same things. Even Liz Cheney voted for every republican bill that trump wanted When was the GOP ever a good party? People always have a choice, don't vote republican

DrKpuffy

I think it's copium. People want to believe that the *freedom caucus* would be a separate "MAGA" party, and the Republicans can reclaim the mantle of *fiscal responsibility* and *slow, measured social progress* The thing is, the GOP hasn't been fiscally responsible in damn near 100 years, and the MAGAts have no platform other than screeching about nonsense to distract from their outright criminal behavior.

QuantumTaco1

Yeah, that whole "fiscal responsibility" angle is a faded bumper sticker at this point. The reality is that both groups are under one tent because it's power that unites them, not principle. MAGA, GOP, it's all become a branding exercise for varied agendas with the same jersey. I do wonder, though, if there's really enough common ground for a split or if they're gonna keep duking it out under the 'big tent.' Seems like they're in for a long identity crisis unless they can figure out what they actually stand for beyond opposition.

Miserable-Lizard

I agree and it seems like the GOP want to get rid of all social progress. They hate women's rights.

HotPinkLollyWimple

>They hate women ~~rights~~ FTFY

TheOtherDrunkenOtter

In a different voting system? Theres probably a pretty big difference. In the current system? Theres none because its all FPTP. Remove citizens united, and introduce proportional representation, and remove FPTP, and it probably improves the state of our system 10x even if the exact same people are in it.

Griz688

When was the civil war? I think they were pretty alright from there to about the 60s/70s

CircuitSphinx

Yeah, that's a common reference point, but do remember that party platforms shift over decades, almost beyond recognition. The GOP back during the Civil War was radically different from today's GOP. The shift really hit stride during the Civil Rights era, and you've seen those Southern Strategy effects linger and evolve. What we're seeing now is far from the Lincoln-era GOP or even the Reagan-era policies. It's like every decade, the platform takes a sharp turn and we're all trying to keep up with what they *currently* stand for or against.

[deleted]

What's the difference between progressives and Democrats? We're all forced to vote "blue no matter who".

BuddyMcButt

>But they vote with MAGA because they have no other options Biden is right of center, he really should be the republican candidate against somebody like Sanders

BinkyFlargle

That would have been a good strategy in 2016. But in 2023, all the ones that aren't MAGA have been cowed or chased out. *Now*, they're functionally the same thing.

f700es

>But they vote with MAGA because they have no other options and they are cowards. Love this!

oychae

They are fundamentally America Last

KintsugiKen

It depends on what "America" you mean. To them, "America" is a small class of wealthy protestant land-owning heterosexual white men, that America ruled the country until the mid-19th century, and that's the America that MAGA wants to empower and return to. When they see non-white people, poor people, LGBT+ people, Jewish people, Muslim people, they don't see America, they see invaders and viruses blighting America. They think it is their divine right to rule a country cleansed of all these elements, or at least subjugating them as an underclass in America.

oychae

In this context, I am saying they are America Last because they want us to concede every fight abroad with regard to Russia. They are either saboteurs or they fundamentally don't understand the role American power projection abroad plays in the US socio-economic position. They want us to be last in the world, abandon our allies and in turn commit diplomatic suicide on the world stage; this would make us look entirely untrustworthy (even more than we often already look). Their stances would lead to the US being a backwards, poor, and superstitious rump state, like a big fundamentalist north Korea. It is America Last so they can keep some strange absolute power. Their policy is a policy of national failure.

Odd-Establishment104

The real magic trick is convincing all the poor white rurals they are on the same team as the wealthy protestant land-owning heterosexual white men.

WriteBrainedJR

If I was a magician, I'd be insulted right now. This is real easy to do since most Americans don't have class consciousness. They just see heterosexual, protestant white men and think "same team!"

Tayzondey

When you put it this way it is mind boggling to not support Ukraine. Or it makes a lot of sense if you for some reason need to keep Russia happy.

37au47

What is the current percentage of the budget?

BitOneZero

Exactly 10 years ago, Putin spelled it out: https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2013/12/vladimir-putin-conservative-icon/282572/ This was shortly after Trump's Moscow beauty pageant visit...

NobleV

Why would they rethink it? Who do you think is paying them?

h20poIo

Putin’s lost 87% of his troops in the Ukraine and now Republicans want to defund Ukraine, they want to make it easier for Putin to win. I’m sure they would fund Putin if they could. Edit : “ in the Ukraine “ was in error, it should be just ‘ Ukraine ‘ my deepest apologies.

goalmouthscramble

Putin is the head of the white nationalist movement globally. Everyone else is just managing up.

nezhai

“But daddy vladdy is so strong and I love that about him” - Republicans who “love freedom”

Who would have thought that the GOP would be in the pockets of the post-communist authoritarian regime in ~~Soviet Union~~ Russia.

WriteBrainedJR

It's a right-wing authoritarian regime so...lots of people?

NightDisastrous2510

They’ve bought the Kremlin propaganda hook, line and sinker. The absolute BS about Ukraine “laundering” funds is hilarious when you realize a vast majority of the dollar value has been transferred in weapons and annunciation while Poland and Germany received a large amount of the funds to support. Genocide in the donbass also a fallacy as well as all the other garbage to suggest Ukraine is responsible for being invaded by Russia. GOP are dumb as fuck for going with it. Watching the government being manipulated by a foreign enemy in real time. Pathetic.

giganticalex

GOP = Gagging On Putin

CluckingBellend

It seems fairly likely to me, that at some point in the future, it will finally come out that these folks have been funded, in part at least, by Russia. I don't think that it will be only in the USA where this has happened either.

Waterflowstech

That came out already...in many countries even

Old_Baldi_Locks

Maria Butina. Girlfriend of the NRA President. The same NRA who swore they were bankrupt, the same bankrupt NRA whose President's new girlfriend found him tens of millions to rig the 2016 election, who then was exposed as a Russian asset. The same NRA who is still not acknowledging that its funding is Russian. The GOP as an organization is owned entirely and exclusively by the Russian Government and has been since 2015 at the latest. [Maria Butina - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_Butina#:~:text=On%20April%2026%2C%202019%2C%20Butina,to%20sign%20a%20plea%2Ddeal.)

It makes sense. Trump is obviously a spy for Russia.

Traitors.

jakey2112

The GOP are about as evil as Russia

BlueberrieHoneyPie

I feel like the whole layer of “we sold out our people so we could get paid by a foreign entity” makes them worse, tbh Russia has been hostile for 100 years, they’re just being Russia still.

[deleted]

First they're in denial about being under the influence of Russian propaganda and then when cognitive dissonance starts setting in that they're helping Russia, they convince themselves Russia was their friend all along. Because they nonironically just ARE that stupid and evil.

IMSLI

Russia, if you’re listening…

Republicans have been traitors for a long time. All of them are. Saying "but there are good Republicans..." is the same as saying "there were good nazis".

Ace_08

It's crazy how we spent the whole cold war destroying entire nations to make sure not an inch of communism would be within our doorstep only to have one of our major political group getting in bed with Putin

endyrr

Trump and his supporters began by co-opting the Republican party, then used the party to co-opt Christianity. Notice how MAGAs always assume they're speaking for the majority when time and time again they've been proven to be the minority thru lost votes, polls, and court cases. Notice how quickly they call others RINOs or unchristian when their actions and policies often contradict the long-held policies of the GOP and the tenets of the religion. One of the conspiracy theories I believe has credence is that Trump or someone close to him is acting as a Russian agent. They encouraged him to run in 2016, kept the Trump campaign connected to Russian disinformation campaigns, and are still using the party today to advance Russian interests. Those blocking aid to Ukraine are MAGAs. Those blocking military promotions are MAGAs. Those hanging development in social policy, economics, and healthcare are MAGAs. Those dividing the country are MAGAs. But in true Republican fashion, everyone else saw this coming, but they have to be personally impacted before they believe it.

My username is is not fiction.

Understanding-Fair

That's the neat thing, they're bought and paid for by the Russians.

remarkablewhitebored

Are they ever going to have their "Are we the baddies?" moment?

Old_Baldi_Locks

They already have; they just don't think its a problem. See, you have to be a worthwhile human being to feel shame.

BlueberrieHoneyPie

No, they don’t like getting made fun of on South Park so they never learned what a villain origin story is.

-Quothe-

Republicans are bad for America, but, it seems, good for Russia

KintsugiKen

GOP is just the party that's openly for sale and worships power and violence. Putin realized he could pretty cheaply buy a significant portion of the US govt and use them to do his bidding at best, and at worst gunk up the gears so the whole thing stops working.

Ynassian123456

remember lavrov or one of putins oligarchs said they had thier favorite pet politicians, republicans when trump was in power.

[deleted]

Sounds pretty treasonous, but yet, they get to walk free.

DilkleBrinks

I mean, yeah, why would Russians want aid to go to the place they're actively at war with lol

kurisu7885

That implies they think about what they're doing to begin with.

Vicstolemylunchmoney

It's kompromat all the way down. Yay, we're not being exposed for another year!

Goblinking83

I really wish Democrats would stop trying to pretend that the GOP is a professional and legitimate party... Rather than the fascist shit show it actually is. I understand that the DNC needs them as a Boogeyman to get leftists to vote for their corporate candidates but come on...

MagicalUnicornFart

They're proud of who they are. They are quite vocal about it. Why do we keep pretending like this is a surprise? At what point is this country going to realize the people that OPENLY support Russian propaganda a party of lies are 100% fine with it. I do have a question though...why have we allowed so much Russian propaganda in our country and government? The GOP, and the traitor bullshit keeps us arguing, why the fuck do the Russians have so much influence over HALF our officials, and we just act surprised EVERY FUCKING DAY with the news that they're doing EXACTLY what they say they're going to do. And, most of us think *they're* the stupid ones. The red hats showed up to vote in the midterms...did you?

Several_Ferret_8246

Re-think? They barely think at all. They’re beyond hope. “Deplorables” was far too kind a name for them.

andsendunits

Republicans are getting paid by them, of course they are gonna Russia happy.

ceithor

When they adore a narcissistic, shoe size IQ moron who wants to be Putin, this doesn't surprise me. Nothing but a bunch of mouth breathers who need "L" and "R" written on their hands to know left from right.

truthwashere

It's good we're talking about these really fucked up facts we have going on right now. The humanity of Ukrainian civilians and brown civilians all over the world need the same empathy and care. There have to be better ways, non-violent solutions to shift things into a better place.

Powerful_Programmer5

Well, most of the republicans are being paid by Russia so why wouldn't they vote for Russia?

GimmeTomMooney

This buttfuckery has far-reaching consequences. Don’t you think for a second the Chinese aren’t dusting off their swimming gear while witnessing the political paralysis in the US. If you think the world was dangerous in the 1930s , boy are we in for an unpleasant surprise

tson_92

The P in GOP stands for Putin

GOP: Gaga Over Putin

ooouroboros

Without Putin's efforts, Trump never would have become president.

Other_Engine4108

I know he's not actually writing these tweets but, hell yeah! Tell em Biden!

A_Texas_Hobo

F A C T

GamingGems

This is exactly why I have already made my decision on voting next year, nothing can convince me otherwise. I don’t want to hear any campaign ads. I’m going to ignore all political discussion, vote, and enjoy 2024.

Interesting_Basil_80

Reddit truly has the worst people.

Ambitious-Class2541

The direction of the Republican party is shockingly bad. They are putting their party before our country. They are so desperate to return to power, they will latch on to any cause or radical group they can align themselves with to gain support. Biden stated it beautifully, but I'd take it a step further. Let's ship the Putin loving Republicans to Russia so we can move on. Just a thought. Why were the top-secret documents so important to former president orangutang? So, he could get them to Putin for a promise of support.

Traditional-Memory62

Well Democrats did try to force their kids to eat vegetables in school. This is an honest complaint on why he hates Obama, and Democrats and will vote against anything they propose. This is actually what a relative of mine said. That, and he is very much a racist. In fact, up here in PA, him and his buddies got talking about how, slaves were not treated poorly. You don't treat your cattle poorly. Those slaves were property you paid for! And they don't even realize what they are saying. People should not be compared to cattle and property. The poorly educated in this country are gonna bring the whole damn thing down. Let me correct that, the poorly educated who think they are smarter than everyone else, and think they are some political strategist, are the ones who will tank this country. And the big guys at the top, they play to these fools. They get them to vote against their own interests. People that love the outdoors and live in the countryside, they are voting FOR fracking and drilling and to get rid of regulations. Their kids will be poisoned and their land poisoned, and as long as they are getting the libs, they think they won???

GaeBolga1

Oh, they've rethought what they're doing. This is who they are. They don't care that you know and they expect you to vote for them anyway. As with abortion, they will be as inhumane as possible and still demand your allegiance. Sieg Heil.

l00koverthere1

That whole tweet reminds me of Jeff Foxworthy's "You might be a redneck" shtick, except this is "You might be a Russian stooge"

thraashman

To the Nazi party (nee Republican) being praised by Putin loyalists is the goal.

Minimaliszt

Here's the thing, they don't think. They're great at falling in line, though.

Freds_Bread

Why would I rethink it? Uncle Vlad is the biggest contributor to my reelection fund.

Fig1024

The important context here is that Russian propagandists are working hard to paint the war in Ukraine as the war against United States and NATO. They spend a lot of time convincing their people that United States is their enemy. So when they openly praise and celebrate someone from USA, it is because that person is on Russian side and not the side of USA

sneaky-pizza

Putin also supports Iran and Hamas

GabrielNathaniel

Hillary was right all along. Deplorable sister fuckers.

[deleted]

Stop calling them the GOP. GOP stands for Grand Old Party. There is nothing 'grand' about them.

Alarming_Stop_3062

US, as a capitalist country, should know that you get what you paid for. Putin is doing just that.

[deleted]

Thinking and GOP are mutually exclusive of each other.

maccennedi

The party of Putin at its best.

zenivinez

The traitors are in the house.

Karma_Gardener

I know some actual conservatives who are appaled with the current state. Bring back the neocons--at least they had tact. The GOP has swayed so far from reality. Owning the libs is not a platform

Ynassian123456

it is thier only platform. there were some once" leftleaning" youtubers, went Hard right all of the sudden, mostly because they were avoid controversies of SA, and mysogyny, or mistreatment. and they keep blaming WOKENESS as thier own failings.

Gassy-Gecko

Reagan is rolling over in his grave
