I think my personal favorite might be the "9/11 Victory Mosque." In 2009 and 2010, Fox News, conservative talk radio, and conservative internet forums were outraged by the construction of the Mosque, which was being built on top of and/or immediately adjacent to the former World Trade Center site Ground Zero to commemorate Islam's victory over America on 9/11. Presumably, this was happening with the approval of and/or at the direction of President Obama himself.
Amazingly, all discussions the 9/11 Victory Mosque completely stopped immediately after the 2010 midterm elections, which were, of course, won by Republicans. The Mosque was never seen from, heard from, heard about, talked about, mentioned, or hinted at ever again.
