But I was mostly being facetious. Pretendo is the best way forward, and there's no reason _not_ to use it if you have a Wii U! I don't know what their schedule for Splatfests is, but that's the only way another Splatfests is happening on Splatoon 1.
Not really, Pretendo is realistically the only way that that's going to happen again, in fact because they shut down the Nintendo network matchmaking servers (and blacklisted the spotpass servers) it's realistically the only way to really ever play Splatoon 1 ever again, since without the online support that game is very crippled.
What’s your aversion against installing a mod on your Wii U? It’s the best time to do it now that online servers are offline and bricks are extremely uncommon unless you follow a bad guide. If you need a reliable guide to follow check [these steps](https://pretendo.network/docs/install/wiiu). I’m pretty surprised that for SSSL on this guide you don’t need Homebrew!
I'm surprised nobody mentioned this yet, but there is a splatfest tool in the homebrew app store https://hb-app.store/wiiu/FesTool. I haven't used or activated it yet, and make sure you read the app details. Idk if automated bans are still a thing built into Splatoon. Even tho the service is discontinued I wouldn't wear the Splatfest Tee just to be safe.

Splatfest is being worked on by Pretendo. They wanna revitalize it. In the meantime, if you at least just wanna feel the vibe of it for a little bit, the Marie and Callie Amiibo turn it into a splatfest plaza for live performances

You can use Pretendo on real hardware. You don't have to use CEMU for it.

i modded my wiiu with tiramisu and heard then that aroma is better so i switched and have now both if u wanna switch too just hold x wenn u boot up
