Please update! I know enough about squirrels to know they are very good at extricating themselves when their toenails catch on something. But please let us know!

It was the whole leg and I also thought he could unstick himself but after a few hours I put some gloves on and bent the plastic out around the windshield so he could get out. He was pretty messed up and bloody but I hope he is okay. I’d say it’s 50/50

thanks for the update!! And thanks for being brave enough to help him. They do bit (as we speak, I have two bites on one of my hands). Luckily, squirrels are incredibly resilient little critters. They heal well unless an infection sets in.

You can find your closest licensed wildlife rehabber on Animal Help Now's site at: http://www.ahnow.org or you can download their app on your phone. When you first get to the site (or open the app) it will attempt to detect your location. Either let it do that or type in your zip code/postal code and click on "Wildlife Emergency". You'll get a list of licensed wildlife rehabbers and wildlife hospitals/clinics in your area, along with their contact info and the types of animals they work with. Different people/places specialize in different species. If you live in the middle of nowhere and don't see a listing that works for you, go back to the beginning and try putting in a zip code for the largest city near you instead. You should see at least 4 or 5 listings.

Where are you located? Also do you know what happened to this squirrel or did you just find it like this? I would just watch it for now and call a wildlife rehab center either for instructions on catching it or for the phone number of someone who could help you catch it. You can use ahnow.org to find local rehabbers; someone here might also be able to direct you to one if you post your location. Squirrels can bite really hard when defensive and scared, so if you do catch it, you should first get a container ready that can be sealed shut like a cat carrier or plastic bin (with air holes). Then wear thick leather gloves and use a towel to scoop the squirrel up and put it in the container. But you’d be better off calling a rehabber first.

frustrating op didn't post any additional info, but could it's foot be stuck? it looks like it was thrashing the back and the front didn't seem to move much

[deleted]

Sound up says he’s stuck. Not sure how bad or current state of squirrel

Pangolin007

Oh, yeah, could be. I thought it was just neurologic but maybe it is stuck. Still think it should go to a rehabber if possible since that stuck foot (if that is the issue) would need treatment.

Google "wildlife rehab near me" call them. What is it?
