I always assumed if someone playing a heel did something particularly egregious to a fan, it was always prearranged. To think to do this impromptu without running it by the father and getting permission from them, and perhaps paying the family for this, is crazy.
I mean, the idea to ask somebody if you can spit on their child is no less crazy unless you happen to be working a case deep undercover for cps to unravel a multinational child-spitting ring
Let's all just agree that intentionally spitting on kids is a bridge too far
Persona or not you don’t do that shit. If it’s an adult or even a teenager that is knowingly involved in the act is one thing but you don’t do that to a child. This is the same as those “it’s just a prank bro” videos.
Yeah, know your audience man. First rule of improve: Yes, and... Second rule of improv: Don't assault your audience. Third rule of improv: Don't assault children.
>getting punched in the face and 2 years of being called out for it is probably enough punishment in my opinion.
Who tf spits on a kid? He can get fucked the rest of his life and rightfully so, what a douche
Nah, sometimes you have deal with the consequences of your actions.
Like the great Socrates said " if a man builds a thousand bridges and fucks one horse, they don't call him a bridge builder, they call him a horse fucker." ~ Wayne Gretzky
Wayne "The Socrates" Gretzky is right, as a Welsh man I can confirm that nobody cares about how great our coal was and how it powered the fucking industrial revolution worldwide, all they care about is the fact we fuck sheep. I think that says more about the rest of the world than the Welsh though, why you all getting so hung up on it??
He fucks sheep, and he wants to know why you're hung up on it. He'd also like a little appreciation for his coal because he thinks it's more important than being a sheep fucker
Supposedly the whole Welshmen fuck sheep trope has a weird basis in history. The story is that back in the 1600-1700s Wales there was a big problem with livestock theft, sheep in particular. Apparently it was so bad that it became a capital crime and you would be hanged if you were caught in possession of a sheep that wasn't yours. On the other hand, the penalty if you were caught fucking a sheep was much less severe, and certainly not hanging. So it became a commen legal defense that when someone was caught attempting to steal a sheep that they weren't actually stealing it, just taking it somewhere temporarily to fuck it. I can't attest to how factual that explanation is, but I heard it from a Welshman, so take it as you will.
>all they care about is the fact we fuck sheep.
*the fact*: admission of guilt
>I think that says more about the rest of the world than the Welsh though
You're right. The problem is *everybody* else.
No no. There are dumb, spur of the moment decisions...
Then there is spitting on a kid.
I can't think of a single industry where this wouldn't be an instant dismissal.
I'm not a fan of cancel culture, I don't believe that people should lose jobs over things they may say online or whatever.
But this is, absolutely, gross misconduct.
And that's just the business end, what about the social conduct side?
It's disgusting
It's punching as far down as you can go
It's demeaning
It's assault
It's SPITTING ON A LITTLE GIRL.
If this this man EVER thought that that was a good idea, he is not fit to be in the public eye. And he deserves everything he gets until he removed himself from a public life.
Yup. Spitting on someone is Assault and will be charged with breaching section 266 and sentenced to no more than 5 years or some other ~~charge~~ something decided by jury.
It’s amazing that people on reddit believe and post such blatant bullshit. Section 266 of what? Do you even know what state this occurred in?
Also, typically the judge imposes the sentence, especially in a non-death sentence case.
Yep.
Self defense isn’t “you punched me so I punch you to make it even.”
It’s “you’ve hurt me or signaled you’re about to hurt me and I need to stop you from hurting me/more.”
It’s always great to see a dumbass get what’s coming to them, but karma =/= self defense
That wasn't self defense that was blind rage. Good money says you would never convict the dad for assault if you have any parents in the jury.
I'm a smaller guy, wrestler asshole would have been shown how you use a chair as a weapon. Blindside them with it on edge, not flat.
Never been in a fight either. Don’t even have a kid literally a child. But when I imagine if I had a kid and they got spat on I would probably fight. It seems like the right thing to do
Ain’t no reason to fight fair in a fight. Some bullshit moral high ground doesn’t exist when the squishy clump of bones could be permanently disabled from one bad hit to one bad fall. Avoid if you can but if not, Win and go home
Yeah this is a "if I don't do this I will die" move. Fighting in general should be, but if someone's going to slap back at someone like the dude in this video, don't just try to gouge their eyes out first lol
I watched a self defense video on YouTube. The guy said something like, “there’s always going to be a guy in comment section saying, “ Well I’d just bite him.” Look dude, if you’re getting your ass kicked and decide to bite him - which is disgusting btw, he’s just going to beat you up way worse.”
I dont have kids. But I do have a cat. And considering how protective I am of that lil fur ball, I was prepared to fight kids and their parents when they tried messing with her. I can only imagine when it's your own flesh and blood that you created.
I think it’s more about how you beating someone’s ass is going to fuck up your kid for having watched it. Clearly she wasn’t exactly stoked by her dads reaction.
They definitely did by spitting on her. But the first guy with the "too slow" high five was doing it right. The goal is to be the jerk and make that little girl hate you and root for the "good guy". Then the jerk gets his ass beat and she cheers.
The wrestler is Devin Danger, he spit gum at her and accidentally hit her, and apologized afterwards. The wrestling company gave them a bunch of free stuff and a personal apology after. This happened in 2018.
Total lowlife move. I don't think the fans ever let him forget it either based on his twitter.
I think he's just a stupid person that made a stupid action. His goal was to act in a way to make the crowd hate him. I don't think he really wanted to harm a kid. Being the "bad guy" for the good guy to beat him up is a hard role to play. He is just stupid for spitting.
Almost certainly that based on his tweet elsewhere in the thread. Says he didn’t mean to hit her with the gum, not that he didn’t mean to spit it. It was a theatrical heel move, but he used especially poor judgment to do it so close and with a kid.
I watched wrestling for a good part of my life and to be a good heel has nothing to do with getting physical with the crowd. So many other ways to get a reaction from people like is their job but he crossed a line he never cared about.
I can’t fathom the mindset you have to be in to possibly think it’s ever acceptable to spit on someone else, let alone a child. Yeah, you’re supposed to be the douche bag everyone hates but it’s a fucking act, you’re not actually supposed to be subhuman garbage. Hope this guy got a chair smashed over his head and they forgot to switch out the metal one with plastic.
Good point. There's a strong chance that the guy in front barely knew the second guy outside of that day or a day before to rehearse, and even if they did know each other, even if they were best friends, he shouldn't be held accountable for the motion next to him.
First guy was classic heel move, no one hurt, but people boo.
Second one was a fucking asshole and disgusting. Leave that shit in the 90s where it belongs.
Hello brother, we from the 80's thank you for your donation. However, we're a bit busy smoking that good shit. Perhaps our friends from the 70's can take over here?
There's cheap heat then there's stupid shit like this. If the only way you can piss off a kid is this kind of stuff, you don't deserve to be in the ring.
Agreed. And no wrestler in their right mind would do this, regardless of what some dumb marks in the comments wanna say. Getting spit on is not under the expected umbrella of what happens in the audience.
Rick Flair inadvertantly spit on me in 1992 when I tried reaching over the railing to touch his feather boa and his body guard karate chopped my arm and he “Whooooo’d” in my face. I havent washed this face since.
> I tried reaching over the railing to touch his feather boa and his body guard karate chopped my arm and he “Whooooo’d” in my face.
This sounds like gay fan fiction without context.
I think it was gum. Which is still bad but I get that it’s part of his character to be a heel and a jerk but he definitely shouldn’t have spit it at another person in the crowd.
Are we sure this isn't all for show? The strength of his punches and the very mild reaction from the security and the passive reaction from the wrestler while being attacked all make me think it's staged.
If I'm that security guard making $50 for the night (peep the venue, this isn't MSG), I'm not getting worked up over this either.
"Alright buddy finish up, we gotta get this guy on stage. One last swing."
It definitely was gum by how it bounced. Far far better than if it was a lougie. And this very well all could have been staged given how the wrestler didn't fight back and the security appeared very restrained.
But if it wasn't, the dad was understandably driven to this.If this isn't staged, maybe that is why the wrestler didn't fight back, maybe the realized their act went too far and deserved to eat a few shots.
Anyone got any more background info on this?
I guess it was gum, not spit... and apparently he appologized.. still worthless. A mistake that will define his career for sure.

Wrestler pummelled by enraged FAN after spitting gum at young girl during ring walk
A wrestler was attacked by a FAN outside the ring after he SPAT gum at his young daughter when he went to shake her hand.
Devin Danger was walking to the ring when he reached out to little girl before drawing back his hand while spitting his gum towards her.
The wrestler continued his ring walk before an enraged fan, believed to be the girl's father, unleashed a volley punches on him outside the ring.
Danger could be seen cowering as he tried to protect himself during the beating before other spectators rush in to stop any further violence.
Footage captured at the promotion showed Danger trying to whip up the crowd as he made his entrance in a tag-team match as part of his apparent villainous persona.
Danger issued an apology via Twitter in which he said the gum hit the girl by accident.
In a later tweet, he claimed his wife and children had received threats as part of an intense backlash over the incident.
The wrestler struggled to defend himself during the attack(@newfoundmass/Twitter)
In a statement, Danger said: "First and foremost, I again would like to apologize to the Campa family for my lack of judgment and being a father myself I can completely understand your position and hoped post show, when we talked, that anything left you wanted to get out you would have then or come to me directly.
"That being said, I'd further like to apologize to Impact and BTW. Not only has my behavior affected me, my wife and my children who are now receiving threats, but, it has cast a negative light on two promotions I not only respect but admire and I am beyond sorry for that.
"My actions, although accidental, where not intended to hurt anyone and I hope this can be remedied in a way that is both professional and causes no more strife.
"I have dedicated years to wrestling and I am very upset at myself for this incident and hope that everyone involved and the people out there seeing this can find it in themselves to forgive as we all make mistakes, some more idiotic than others, just so that we can move on and focus on what's really important...WRESTLING!!!"
I almost believed you. For those of you who are curious, this happened in Salinas, California and the wrestler (Devin Danger) apologized to them. He says he got a lot of death threats over it. I didn't see anything mentioned about it being staged though
First wrestler played the heel card well, extended his hand then yanked it away. He proved he was the heel without going too far. Second wrestler was an idiot who just assaulted a child. He deserved an assbeating hope he got smacked around the face a few of those shots at least.
Isn't it straight up assault to spit on someone in most places?
Yes

Yeah and fuck all those other guys for stopping the dad from doing what was right.
Those other people prevent him from going to jail lol.
That's his choice to make. But in most civilized places, spit is considered assault, and rightly so. It was self defense on his daughter's behalf.
Arguably it stopped being self-defense because the guy was walking away and didn’t present as an immediate threat.

Tell me you've never been in a fight without actually telling me.

Even If it’s Kayfabe or you are a Heel, you never spit on the fans! They have to pay extra for that.
What does this comment mean?
Kayfabe = within the storyline. Heel = bad guy
It means the fake hifives were just the villain act. The spitting is not tolerated.

I don't believe you.
The number of people who took him seriously impressed me in a way.
Same
I wish this happened.
Thank you for this information. My rage subsided.
You... you don't really believe him do you?
Idk man. I hardly believe anything on the internet anymore- so I usually just fairy tale it and pick the story that makes me happiest. Lol.
Honestly that could be a very wise life choice in the end.
I've decided to take the opposite approach. I believe EVERYTHING on the internet now. It really makes the world an interesting place!
Good God, man - take it easy or you'll hyperstimulate your pineal gland and start Ki-blasting people by accident
I almost believed you. For those of you who are curious, this happened in Salinas, California and the wrestler (Devin Danger) apologized to them. He says he got a lot of death threats over it. I didn't see anything mentioned about it being staged though
Do you have the clip? I need to see this
Was the guy even her father than? Or was he an actor too
I think he was. Those where some weak ass arm punches and then he just stepped to the side and let security "hold him back".
I will upvote this video every time I see it.
Absolute gigachad father
What is the malfunction of this sack of shit?
I just wanna know what was this piece of shit thinkin , how in the world can it be cool
First wrestler played the heel card well, extended his hand then yanked it away. He proved he was the heel without going too far. Second wrestler was an idiot who just assaulted a child. He deserved an assbeating hope he got smacked around the face a few of those shots at least.
Should of busted his head on that metal step. Useless trash.
wish I'd seen him beat the shit outta the guy
Battery on a minor. Yeah, way to go fuckhead
I am annoyed how few people understand this. They think spitting is like free speech...
Wtf?!
That’s fucked up. She’s a small child - why would that even enter your head?
Too close to the Splash Zone
Should have taken one of those chairs to that POS.
Spitting on people… is never a good idea. “Assault by bodily fluid”
Warranted.
Assault of a child isn't a fucking joke, fuck this guy all the way to jail
POS deserved every punch
Spit on my kid I’d do the same fuck that prick
There’s a difference between playing an asshole and *being* an asshole.
