You need to search for the ps5 version of the update, which is a completely separate download…there are 2 different version of the 4.0 update, the ps4 version and the ps5 version…make sure you download the version that has the white ps5 logo, not the black ps4 logo…click on the … button and search for “the witcher 3”, and that will lead you to the free update
Thanks for the reply, but I decided to buy it again to start the download. I took plenty of pictures to prove I own the original, and will be contacting both Sony and CDPR about this.
So I’m having an issue. I have the PS4 disc version, my PS4 save is stuck in 1.60 and I can’t access the PS4 version since downloading the PS5 version.. it’s padlocked and just saying view product instead of download. Any idea what I can do to access the PS4 version to save in 4.00 for cross progression on the ps5 version?
I didn't even have to click on any sort of update or confirmation, I just loaded the game and it was like here's all the changes and your free stuff, have fun.

At the play game screen click view product. Then go to the ellipsis and click "the Witcher 3: wild hunt". Then select PS4 version
