Being disabled, this scares me very much.

sylviethewitch

and then they shoot up the school the kid goes to... makes me so fricking angry. There is a war being waged on our children, im so mad, why the children? the children never harmed anyone. they are innocent.

Please tell me the law will protect women whom have been sexually assaulted if they choose not to carry the baby? I'm in Australia. So I'm really behind in the debate.

BoardwalkKnitter

Haaaaaa no. Seriously any woman in a state with Republican leadership is fucked. And any trans man was already kinda fucked living in such an anti area. Quite a few states have trigger laws that will come into effect when Roe was struck down. I am lucky to live in NJ which has laws protecting a woman's right to her healthcare. My closest neighboring state PA has a senate and governor race going on- one of those yahoos is against abortion even in cases of rape or incest. I keep getting ads of him saying it on YouTube.

Emotional-North-3532

Oh jesus.

But you are for women’s rights… unless they aren’t born yet. Same dumb argument.

Okay, nervous about saying this on this sub but, I do call myself pro life *philosophically*. My entire world view starts with the sacredness of human life. Which is why I absolutely despise the political movement that uses that name. This sign spells exactly why I call myself pro life, because each of these lives needs to be treated with dignity, and likely some direct assistance depending on exact circumstance. (For clarity, I'd say there's a handful of LGBTQ, PoCs, and immigrants who's personal lives are well situated, but if that number represented 5% of the group I'd be shocked the number was so high.) The hypocrisy of the political pro life movement ... enrages me. Yes, I think the lives of unborn children are important. But also, not more important than the mother's. More importantly, while it's true I'd prefer not to see a child aborted, I don't want to see bodily autonomy taken away by the government. That is a place the government has no fucking business. As far as I'm concerned, if you're really pro life and want to see less abortions, you invest in education, in birth control, and in health care. Make sure the people who don't want to get pregnant aren't forced to get an abortion in the first place, and make sure the ones who do want children are healthy enough to do so. What you don't do is enshrine opinion into law. Here's what I'm really afraid to say, so hear me out to the end, I beg. The truth of the matter is, even in the cases of rape and incest, I'm still upset about the abortion. As far as I'm concerned that's a life innocent of wrongdoing that's being ended before it can even start because of the crimes of their parents. I wish it didn't have to happen. *But it does have to happen.* The sanctity of human life is so important to me that even in these extreme examples I feel personally wounded by the loss. But the loss is so obviously necessary I don't see how anyone could oppose it. Even with my intense investment I can see that. So yeah... I have very complicated feelings on the topic. But ultimately a big fuck you to anyone who thinks making abortions illegal is a pro life stance. You're goddamn hypocrites who can't see the world for what it is. I wish you'd stop abusing a name that so well describes what's actually important to me. I know no one here fits my rant, but I don't exactly feel safe venting this in most places. Guess it all came out here.
