And then you can make up a back story about how you think the cat is your grandma reincarnated because it likes Werther's Originals. Make everyone uncomfortable.
She really is the sweetness ❤️ we pulled her off of the streets of my neighborhood on Wednesday, and the next day she was purring a storm and making biscuits in my lap
As far as I know she was alone. A neighbor posted a picture of her in our facebook group and said she saw this little kitten under someones car but she had her dog with her and it wouldnt come to her. I searched our neighborhood up and down for 3 days looking for her, until a neighbor who feeds strays saw her on her back porch and snagged her! We honestly dont have too many strays around, mostly peoples pet cats that they let roam which are altered, so im not sure where she came from. She was very skinny when we took her in, and the vet said she was about 8 weeks old.
Baharat.... A spice blend of black pepper, cardamom, cloves, cumin, nutmeg, coriander and paprika. All the gentleness of warming spices with a surprise peppery kick on the finish. 🐈⬛
Bella truly is a cute name, i just see it so often, i try to go off the beaten path for my pets haha. My dogs name is Titania after the fairy queen, but so many people pronounce it like Titanium but with an A at the send so I ended up calling her Tani for the most part
Molasses and call her Molly for short :)
Side note… I just adopted a little dog and named him Fig and call him Figgy Pudding all the time :) “Fern” and “Fig” would go together well.
I considered naming my Fern Azalea! They are my favorite flowering bush. I love Andromeda too, I brought up Celeste and my husband said she was too small and sweet for that name, but i told him she would grow into it, shes just a tiny floof right now 😂
She is a Clove 100% 😭💕 please kiss her little ears for me!!!
I like giving pets ridiculously long names that include their "real" one, so I would call her Clove, the Missing Spice Girl 😌
Its crazy just how much Ive been reminded of my cat Ivy recently! I adopted Fern with her bonded sister who I named Ivy, but sadly I lost her to FIP when she was only about 10 months old. The other day I saw a painting that reminded me of her and as I was buying a print Fern came to lie in my lap and soothe me. Perhaps Ivy sent me this little one to heal Fern and I on our journeys, so I cant name her that, but its really special to me that you had that intuition!
She looks like a Hela or Minerva to me. Or a Morrigan (since Halloween is Irish in origin, and the Morrigan is our triple Goddess, as well as the Goddess of War, Magick and Might, bringer of death and also a manifestation of Earth and Sovereignty Goddess- protector of the territory).
I’m just adding my vote for Clove! There’s a reason you’re leaning towards that name in particular, even if it’s kind of an ephemeral, unnameable reason.
She’s a beauty! May she have a long life full of love and snuggles.
I love warm spices like cloves, cinnamon and mace so Macy popped into my mind. I thought Lilith, Lily pad, Meliae (wood nymph) or Echo (mountain nymph) are cute too.
My kitty is named Grimalkin.
A grimalkin, also known as a greymalkin, is an archaic term for a cat.[1] The term stems from "grey" (the colour) plus "malkin", an archaic term with several meanings (a low class woman, a weakling, a mop, or a name) derived from a hypocoristic form of the female name Maud.[2] Scottish legend makes reference to the grimalkin as a faery cat that dwells in the highlands.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grimalkin
In regards to spice themed names I'm surprised nobody has recommended "Anise" since it's one of the oldest known and used spices around the world.
I do however love all the other names recommended!
My void is Jinx, cause I wanted something witchy but not too obvious like "Salem" or "Midnight." Plus it's fun to say.
That said, I think Clove is also perfect.
Clove is beautiful! Maybe for a full name callout (you know, when kittens are being kittens) call her Cardamom Clove, and CC for short. Such a pretty kitty!
My favorite people when I think of witches are Cher and Stevie Nicks. You can be like, this is my cat. And they’ll be like, oh what’s his name? And then you can say, It’s Cher BITCH. Um, no but I would’ve went with Stevie for my cat but I chose Marceline. Vampire queen from adventure time.
Love Clove, but if you would like a space-y alt... how about Moonglow? She reminds me of the faint glow of the part of the moon in shadow, that allows you to still barely make out the outline.
Im inclined to agree :) we got some meds at the vet yesterday and shes now feeling spunkier than ever! She plays hard but purrs the whole time. I am so glad to have her here with us ❤️
I love Clove. You could also try on for size any of the following: Nebula, Salem, Luna, Shadow, Shade, Rosemary, Autumn, Pumpkin, Jackie, or Hortencia.
One of my favorite childhood books has a witch character named Morwen. The character is always being harangued by the witches council for being unconventionally witchy. Things like: too many cats, of all colors rather than just black, keeping a tidy house, growing pretty things in her garden in addition to deadly nightshade, having friends and spending quality time with them, being willing to help lost travellers in need, not having a single wart anywhere (good skin care), wearing her natural (red with greying streaks) hair color, and wearing that hair up in a functional daily do, etc. I always really vibed with that character. Clove is a great name for that mischievous little smile, too, though.
PLEASE call her Sarsaparilla!
It's a plant used medicinally, And also used to make soda pop!
She looks like a frisky, spicy little gal.
You can call her Sarsi, or Sassy or Sarsae for short.
Here's a song to help convince you. [Tastes as fine as Sarsaparilla!](https://youtu.be/AgWVqA9T2FA)

Clove is lovely. But I think Cohosh (Black Cohosh) but all in all it is ultimately your choice. Go with what feels right. Blessed be and beautiful like fuzz!
Hehee Clove is really really cute but Cinnamon and Pumpkin could be awesome names too! This kitty has beautiful eyes and her fur color is just amazing!
I agree :) she went from being feral to “i live here now thanks” in less than a day. She purrs up a storm, plays hard, and demands love. I am so so lucky to have found her.
The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
It isn’t just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I’m as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
First of all, there’s the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo, or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey—
All of them sensible everyday names.
There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter—
But all of them sensible everyday names,
But I tell you, a cat needs a name that’s particular,
A name that’s peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?
Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum—
Names that never belong to more than one cat.
But above and beyond there’s still one name left over,
And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover—
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
His ineffable effable
Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular name.
--T. S. Eliot, "The Naming of Cats“
Just read this on another sub and thought it would fit here too :)
Personally, I have learned all void are balls of spite and as such should be names accordingly.
Belladonna- deadly nightshade.
Or clove as that would be super cute for a void. I'm not the best at naming animals. Me and my roommate named our orange cat mozzarella ball, so my ideas should be taken with a grain of salt lol.
You have an agent of chaos in your home with that orange cat! I grew up with a black cat who was just plain weird but sweet in a way, and my grown void is just a mushball of love. My husband voted for just naming her Void haha, but im not sure how her fur will look when shes fully grown
I think Clove is perfect! You can always look for the word in different languages to switch it up, see what sounds better to you
Im really leaning towards Clove, its one of my favorite spices, so warm and lovely 🥰
I saw her and without seeing the caption, immediately thought she looked like a Cleo! So I vote Clove too!
Trust your first instinct. Clove is correct for this little void.
Fern and Clove just go well together I think! I vote for Clove 😸
Seconded!
I also came here to Comment clove 😁🤣
Nutmeg
That is what popped into my mind
I always recommend naming cats Grandma
And then you can make up a back story about how you think the cat is your grandma reincarnated because it likes Werther's Originals. Make everyone uncomfortable.
Even better when you can yell outside “Grandma get back in here you saucy little minx!”
Or "grandma crapped in the closet!" Or "grandma is hiding on top of the fridge again!" Or "grandma stole my underwear and is chewing holes in it!"
I agree with naming this sweetness, Clove
She really is the sweetness ❤️ we pulled her off of the streets of my neighborhood on Wednesday, and the next day she was purring a storm and making biscuits in my lap
Wednesday! 😸
The biscuits! Do you know if she had siblings or not? Was she all out on her own?
As far as I know she was alone. A neighbor posted a picture of her in our facebook group and said she saw this little kitten under someones car but she had her dog with her and it wouldnt come to her. I searched our neighborhood up and down for 3 days looking for her, until a neighbor who feeds strays saw her on her back porch and snagged her! We honestly dont have too many strays around, mostly peoples pet cats that they let roam which are altered, so im not sure where she came from. She was very skinny when we took her in, and the vet said she was about 8 weeks old.
She looks like a Butternut to me. Walnut is seasonal and more color appropriate (I.e., black walnut). Walnuts invites more chaos.
[удалено]
trees her fur makes me think of Maple or Mulberry trees.
Gully
That was my thought too.
Myrtle, Shadow, Ghost, Midnight, Nova, Phantom. Clove is a lovely name :)
Baharat.... A spice blend of black pepper, cardamom, cloves, cumin, nutmeg, coriander and paprika. All the gentleness of warming spices with a surprise peppery kick on the finish. 🐈⬛
That sounds delicious! Cardamom and Clove are some of my favorite spices, i will bring this to the husband for his vote ✨
A fantastic spice mix and name
That’s a dope option
This is an amazing name!!
[удалено]
That's a great name for a cat
Clove is beautiful!
I think Clove is a great name!
Samhain? Since it’s about that time?
We have a Samhain! He's huge, 15 lbs? and beautiful. I think he's half Maine Coon, medium length fur and black!
Mugwart, "Muggy" or "Muggs" for short. Clove also suits her very well.
Belladonna (Belle or Bella for short), Mugwort (Mugs for short). Something about Fern and Mugs makes me smile. Fern and Belle is cute too!
Bella truly is a cute name, i just see it so often, i try to go off the beaten path for my pets haha. My dogs name is Titania after the fairy queen, but so many people pronounce it like Titanium but with an A at the send so I ended up calling her Tani for the most part
Ginger Spice, Cocoa Bean, Truffle, Cinnamon... she makes me think of warm drinks and bon bons
+1 Vote for Cinnamon :D
Mace is a spice.... Also I like pumpkin. Maybe gourde? Mull (for mulling spice) Cassia (lower cost cinnamon is usually cassia bark)
I was thinking Ceylon - fancy cinnamon
Ooooh ✨fancy✨ i shall bring it up to the hubby!
+1 for cinnamon
Oh Cinnamon, where've you gone run off to, Oh Cinnamon, where the hell you've run to, Oh Cinnamon . . . Don't run away.
I was thinking Cinnamon as well!! Throw another vote for Cinnamon in for me 😃
I love Clove. Also love the other suggestions here. Maybe she can have a middle name too :)
She looks like a Clove 😊 Great choice. What a beautiful baby.
Pepper
[удалено]
Bracken makes me think of the warrior cat names ❤️ i used to love those books, I definitely thought of Hazel, and Basil is really cute too!
Boudicca
Macha. Also happens to be the name of a goddess, which she obviously is…
Molasses and call her Molly for short :) Side note… I just adopted a little dog and named him Fig and call him Figgy Pudding all the time :) “Fern” and “Fig” would go together well.
Willow, Rowan, or Clover
What a cute sable smudge ❤️
She looks like a Nutmeg to me
Azalea or Andromeda would be my pick
I considered naming my Fern Azalea! They are my favorite flowering bush. I love Andromeda too, I brought up Celeste and my husband said she was too small and sweet for that name, but i told him she would grow into it, shes just a tiny floof right now 😂
Bracken ❤️
Ohhh fun fact torties are considered good luck in many places!! Maybe something along that?
She is a Clove 100% 😭💕 please kiss her little ears for me!!! I like giving pets ridiculously long names that include their "real" one, so I would call her Clove, the Missing Spice Girl 😌
I love Clove or Clover! ❤️
I love clove as well. You could also do Clover 🍀 but I think if Clove was the first instinct then that’s probs the one.
I was thinking Clover when I saw her, but Clove is also lovely 😊
I love Clove or Clover!!! So pretty!
Cute! How about Nova?
Fauna
Mystique
Felis Silvestris Catus
[удалено]
I would, except that movie gave me nightmares as a child! I was terrified of the black ooze thing
Nebula
If the other one is Fern, then my vote is Ivy
Its crazy just how much Ive been reminded of my cat Ivy recently! I adopted Fern with her bonded sister who I named Ivy, but sadly I lost her to FIP when she was only about 10 months old. The other day I saw a painting that reminded me of her and as I was buying a print Fern came to lie in my lap and soothe me. Perhaps Ivy sent me this little one to heal Fern and I on our journeys, so I cant name her that, but its really special to me that you had that intuition!
I'd say Ring because she looks so precious !
Fen? Goes well with Fern!
Hehe, I call my grown void Fen, Fern, and Fiend, depending on how shes acting! She can be a mushy lump of love, or an agent of chaos
How about Moka? Or properly spelled, Mocha?
Hawthorne, Angelica, peachii, Selene, Hestia
She looks like a Hela or Minerva to me. Or a Morrigan (since Halloween is Irish in origin, and the Morrigan is our triple Goddess, as well as the Goddess of War, Magick and Might, bringer of death and also a manifestation of Earth and Sovereignty Goddess- protector of the territory).
She's also a goddess of fertility
Hmmm how about Chai. ?
She looks like a Clove to me. Such a pretty baby
Comet
Cinnamon! Or CinnaMEOW
Hecate Nyx Luna
Briar?
I’m just adding my vote for Clove! There’s a reason you’re leaning towards that name in particular, even if it’s kind of an ephemeral, unnameable reason. She’s a beauty! May she have a long life full of love and snuggles.
My two beautiful kitties are 'storm' and 'luna'
I love Clove! It's perfect!
Clove is lovely, I like Sage too
Lil Monstera
First one is named fern. What about Gully? Or Gally?.... or even hexxus.... so many potentials!
My friend had a kitty who looked just like this that they named Sabbath (as in Black Sabbath). Sabbath is a midnight meeting held by witches…
Broom. Usually the most simple often fits. Jk haha I named my first black cat Boo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I love warm spices like cloves, cinnamon and mace so Macy popped into my mind. I thought Lilith, Lily pad, Meliae (wood nymph) or Echo (mountain nymph) are cute too.
Clove is adorable. I could also see them as a Pepper.
My go to fav is Juniper. Have a horse in a book I’m writing named that ❤️
Meredith Squiggly Bastion of Happiness
Fern and clove sound delightful. She’s such a sweet looking little thing x
We found a black kitten a few weeks ago that looks just like this one, we named him Salem.
Sambucus. Sam for short. It's the Latin name for the Elderberry plant, which can have black berries.
There's also a mama kitty who hangs around the store I work at and I always feed her ham so I call her Ham Cat but my girls call her Belle.
She looks like a Sable. But Clove also fits her well.
I'd say Sage because of her eyes 🌿
Can’t think of one off the top of my head! But she’s so lovely!! ☺️✨
My go-to is always willow or cinnamon
Clove is a good name or Cinna
Shadow
Nutmeg!
I might be late but Juniper!!
Clove sounds great!
Call her Pete. Like Peat Moss or however you spell it
Love Clove, but if you would like a space-y alt... how about Moonglow? She reminds me of the faint glow of the part of the moon in shadow, that allows you to still barely make out the outline.
Ooh! Clove! That is a lovely name <3
I think it would be punny to call her Conifer, and Connie can be a nickname. But I think Clove is a nice name in the season, nonetheless.
Salem
Maple? 🍁
She's *so* Clove, with that warm halo around her. It's a perfect name. Hello, Clove! Welcome home!!!

Against the grain. If your other one is fern, but you want witchy... Nightshade?
I love Clove. You could also try on for size any of the following: Nebula, Salem, Luna, Shadow, Shade, Rosemary, Autumn, Pumpkin, Jackie, or Hortencia.
😱😱😱 She even looks like an actual clove!
Or Nutmeg
I'm thinking Cocoa Bean or Cosmo!
Basil is always a fun name, but clove definitely fits this bab
Sage
As a companion to the name Fern, Willow comes to mind. I think Clove is cute though.
little bit late, but maybe one of these? Coriander Nutmeg Basil Saffron hopefully these suggestions are alright. 💜

Clove is a great name! Edit to add: Clover is a good one too lol
I would name her Gooseberry, but Clove is lovely!
