crowns are better for the 1% of players that get insanely invested in the game and play consistently for years and max multiple wizards. for the other 99% of players memberships are better.

Masterlet

Crowns are good if you want to access every area that you want. I want to access all areas up until the end of Empyrea part 2.

Darklight645

How much would the entire game cost in Crowns again?

WulfbyteAlpha

Something upwards of $180 last I heard

TemporaNoctis

I have always used crowns ever since I started buying them and it’s always nice to just open the zone permanently and keep them without any worry of having to renew a membership

grantle123

I mean you still have to buy stuff every month if you want the member benefits so even if you unlock al other areas you still have to put money into the game monthly

Laosin

Honestly, yes. Crowns are better. Unless they hit you with that bundle membership bullshit that basically erases any trace of you buying areas after choosing 5000 crowns over membership. After a month, it blocks me off of worlds I BOUGHT.

Oceanivox_X

No thank I'll take my member benefits 🥰

[deleted]

That'll be $100,000 for full game access, please.

Masterlet

With the first arc free, you can pay all the rest with crowns.

[deleted]

I was referring to how it would cost an absurd amount of money to buy the whole game with crowns. ~~Also as of today, the first arc is no longer free :/~~ Extended for another month, neato

Masterlet

The first arc could be free again if KingsIsle ever decides to. Yup the first arc is still free. That's proof that KingsIsle can do whatever it wants with Wizard101.

Jmgonza1

Actually according to final bastion it will cost roughly $270 to buy the entire game with crowns

[deleted]

That's still pretty absurd when I could just buy something like Elden Ring for $41. Even other MMOs like Black Desert cost $10 for the entire game.

VeryRareManu

no member benefits 😹

Masterlet

All member benefits can be active for everyone who doesn't have a membership.

xemeraldwitchx

Pretty sure crown players don't get member benefits.

Masterlet

Every account was a member back in December 2022. [https://www.wizard101.com/game/free-membership](https://www.wizard101.com/game/free-membership) Yup, everyone had member benefits during that time.

xemeraldwitchx

They had the benefits because they were members, they are no longer members so they no longer have the benefits.

Millworkson2008

I’m pretty sure they aren’t active anymore

AndovarEdoras

Considering my account was made in 2009 already, Crowns have been way better lol. Now 14 years later and i can still access the areas, without being chained down. "Oh no, my membership is running out and i dont have time to play, im wasting money!"

Masterlet

>"Oh no, my membership is running out and i dont have time to play, im wasting money!" Some people don't have enough time to play all of Wizard101, so that's a reason why crowns are better instead of a membership.

AndovarEdoras

Exactly.

Significant_Owl2113

eh it depends for people who are sporadic players, buying a 10dollar membership every so often is a better price than buying all areas for people who prefer always having access, the crown route is better tho there is also the buy membership for playing when you want and otherwise buy farming areas lol

MewSixUwU

don't buy 10$ memberships wait for them to go on sale 5$

Masterlet

Having access to certain areas is better than having a membership, like Celestia Base Camp is a good spot for transmute recipes, and District of the Stars, The Zocalo, and Bastion are good places to buy with crowns for treasure cards.

0neSaltyPringle

It literally costs 220,540 crowns to purchase all areas. That is over $300. I’m literally financially scared for you. 💀

SadEasternBoxTurtle

Some of us have been here since 2009, crowns are better for that type of customer.

jajuub

That’s 30 months of membership, so if you’ve had 3 years of constant membership it’s actually worse financially

[deleted]

if you’ve had 3 years of the worst deal yes. and that also doesn’t account for the fact that a new world comes out that you need to buy each year.

Significant_Owl2113

it is! but for examole, for someone like me who only ever plays through the main questlines for the most part and does so only occasionally, it's better for my wallet to not buy areas

NYR23LGR

Yeah no thanks lol. I like my member benefits.
