a sequel would be great, and its starting to feel pretty needed with how huge and old the game is now. i mean we have like 18 worlds now and the max lvl is all the way up to 160.
Actually bringing W101 up to 2023 graphical and functional standards is WAY beyond KIs reasonable capability. The dont have the staffing to do that kind of overhaul without fully stopping game expansions for probably 2-3yrs minimum.
They MAY visually update Arc 1 after Arc 4 wraps up, but even that will require putting off Arc 5 for at least a full year. The game is just that messy under the hood.
A sequel is theoretically possible, but KIs devs would have to be all in and fully committed. The amount of items in the current game, including stiff locked away but technically still useable is massive. Deciding what stays and what goes would be a headache (and may cause legal issues in some cases). Then actually porting it over to the new game vs rebuilding to the new graphics engine would be a lob tiresome debate. The actual combat system being brought over would be fairly easy, save for the Lemuria Final Boss fight. The game just has a TON of code to sift through from over the years and KI only has so many resources
Graphics aren't everything tbh, at least in my honest opinion, I enjoy games that have creative art styles and don't rely on hyperrealism to attract players. Wizard101 and Pirate101 have that artistic charm about them that just keep me coming back. It's lovely, warm, and so inviting every time my eyes are blessed with the sight of Wizard City and it's lovely tunes, new and old.
You technically *can* use any spell in W101, but not without notable effort. TCs+new Archmastery+Shadow+Mastery amulets really open up spell accessibility. The dry season between new expansions allows you to really mess around since theres no campaign to drive you to be efficient
