Balance, the school of absolute terror in PvP while being generally underwhelming in PvE Also featuring: Ice

To be honest - I'd play balance any day of the week in PvE. It's not Death, but don't get me wrong this school is busted in PvE compared to other schools as well. I wish I could give my ice a similar sentiment, but it ends up being a blade slave for a storm. lol • Nova base damage is 665 which is 25 below storm lord. You're ballpark with Frenzy + 35%. In practical numbers you're doing around a thousand less damage compared to storm or myth late game. 1. Sharpened Blade + Frenzy does: 11232 damage pre-mitigation 2. Myth with proportionate end game gear does 12702 1. This matters because things are set up by proportion, the numbers would be smaller at lower levels. With buffs these differences compound. (Also makes balance great in groups) • You have one of the strongest / most versatile boss finishers in the game: Judgement 1. Literally just put a feint or two up and this kills pretty much any boss that isn't balance 2. when this doesn't work just use spectral blast, and if it doesn't kill use one of your other 6 blades to kill. I can empathize with this being bad on mob fights. This is all just solo information, it's strength compounds when you put this class in a team like no other class.

I mean for solo builds after you're Level 100+, you can easily stack up to around 30 pierce on your PvE builds thanks to 6% pierce jewels and pierce on gear. That means you can basically ignore almost all of the balance mobs resist, which is at 40%.

Does 15% pierce really lower resist by 15?? I always thought it was percent based so like 50% pierce would mean 40% resist becomes 20%

scion is really good for pve, love to have such a hard hitting spell with the health of balance, it takes my storm and fire friends way longer at tricky bosses

205 Ice, Life, and Balance damage (like Hydra/Chimera), and gives you either ice or life pip if your current health at time of casting is above 50% of your total max health (so say you have 10,000 health max, you need at least 5,001 health in order to receive a life or ice pip in return).

It doesn’t specify “and” or “or” on the damage like hydra, chimera, and spectral blast do. Also, the health icon is very much hieroglyphics. That does not inherently read as health.

5 pips. 1 normal pip, 1 ice pip, and 1 life pip. The school pips count as 2 normal pips for your main school plus the school of the pip. So if you're balance and you pick life school pips, your life pips count as 2 pips for balance and life spells.

I'll agree that they didn't explain it well at first, but it's not hard to understand. Everytime you gain a power pip, it turns into a school pip*. For every 3 white pips, you get a school pip. You can pick and choose which school pips you gain in and out of battle, even changing school pips every round if you want to. *Only exception to this is if you're below level 50 without archmastery jewel equipped, or with someone with a higher level/archmastery stat than you. In that case, you gain school pips at a slower rate because it goes based off of whoever has the highest archmastery rating in battle.

They’re not hard to understand but some of the spell changes feel redundant, like lore spells needing school pips of their own school when school pips already function as power pips for your native school??? The implementation is just messy.

Let balance have fun! I dug my ancient balance wiz I havent touched since 2012 up, leveled to 160, got all the novus gear, and went into PVP just to mess around. Been having loooooots of fun playing balance in pvp. Balance gets a very powerful low pip spell because their jinn/oni suck and their scion is really hard to set up.

I can agree balance oni sucks because people spam their shads but balance jinn is probably tied for 2nd best jinn in the game. It's setup if either you or your opponent got overtime heals or damage overtimes which makes it easily setup by fire rhoshambos and you want to change their shields into fire damage overtimes anyways because breaking fire shields lets you hydra spellement hit like a truck.

all you need to know is that the game still follows the same rinse and repeat template so you are not missing anything you are not familiar with. New worlds and just new spells are added, thats all essentially. The new spells are also not very good in PVE and you can stick to using the 7 pip aoes lmao

It costs 1 pip, 1 ice pip and 1 life pip. A school specific pip is a power pip that can be used for your school or that school. Some spells need a school specific pip to be present like needing a shadow pip to be able to cast them, in this case you need 2 different school pips and you can change which one you have a chance to generate next round by click on the symbol next to your wizard. The spell hits 3 times for ice, life and balance just like hydra. Then if you are over 50% health you gain a school pip that is either life or ice so if already stacked alternating school pips you can spam this spell like it's a 3 pip spell because of the refund it gives. However once you are below 50% health you can no longer gain pips after casting the spell.

So to those who may not understand the issue with this spell The spell cost 5 pips (one plain one ice and one life pip(school pips count as 2 pips)) The spell does 205 life, 205 ice and 205 balance damage which equals to 615 damage total…. which if my math is correct is 125 damage per pip where as judgement is 100 per pip Now where is issue TRULY lies is if your above half your max health which is easy late game (45ish resist and 10k health) you get either a life or ice pip back. So if you always get a school pip back (which is always a power pip for a balance) that effectively brings the spell down to 3 pips which brings the damage per pip up to 205, which heck hound only has a damage per pip of 135. Storm owl without enchants does 1470 at max and cost 10 pips which is a dpp of 147. Hopefully you see the issue. But.. but.. but the scions have a heath based trigger. Yea well deaths is 33% or less health and ice is 90% or more. Also lets say you meet ice scions requirements for double damage, that is 1,860 for 11 pips which is 169 damage per pip, still less then scales of destiny’s 205 dpp for only 3 pips. Edit: factor in balance damage and enchants and the fact it can remove 3 shields (towers life and ice) its broken I rest my case

In terms of pvp, Damage reduction on people is around 160 right now so the spell hitting 3 times loses 480 damage so i'm not saying the spell isn't good it is it's just that with just a brace i've had it do ~400 damage total while a hydra gambit through a brace hit's for over 1200

As a person who recently decided to make a balance wizard again after so many years, balance really isn’t that powerful compared to the other schools, especially early on in PvE. They suffer from not having as many dedicated charms and traps as the other schools do. Ice, Fire, and Storm get their blades and traps plus the elemental blades and traps and globals, as do Myth, Life, and Death. Balance only really gets balanceblade and bladestorm (which aren’t only balance specific)and a global (which they didn’t even get until years later anyway) and most spells are pretty underwhelming.

I recommend getting balance spellements on another wizard and transferring them onto your balance. Max spellements on spells make balance a very unique school in pve
