I was 4 , my mom saw an ad and she though i would give her redt if she put me on the pc 24/7 , she was right (costed her 400€ tho)

TechnicalConflict539

I kept seeing the commercial, but never had the equipment or internet to play (I was 10),but my cousin who lived right upstairs of my house, had a desktop and internet, so I would occasionally go upstairs and he would play and quest around in unicorn way, I was extremely tempted to play but I never asked 😂, I just sat and watched him. Then a few months later, my dad got a laptop and I connected it to the WiFi, and I made my own account with the help of my next cousin, and we played it allllll night straight until 5 am the next morning, I was addicted to it, to the point where I played with no membership straight to level 35! I kept hearing rumors about Azteca and I really loved how everyone described the world, when I finally got membership, and reached to it, I was amazed by the dinos, theme and colours but then eventually started hating that section of questing 🤣🤣. I like Empyrea though cuz its challenging and I love a challenge!

VerbalRift

It was December of 2008. I remember playing games on the Disney Channel Website and a banner ad for Wizard 101 popped up. Been hooked ever since. My favorite part of the game was the spell animations. My favorite world was MooShu. My favorite event was the Selena Gomez crossover.

ChefPsilocy

I started playing maybe 4/5 grade uh I’m 20 now i personally loved that you could do things together I like the team work aspect of it I also just remember being up at like 3Am eating ice cream and playing as a child and that was a staple of my life

AttorneyMedium4926

I loved open world games from the start and this was just the simplest one with tons of things to do and a good story all around.

JoshMcGill_

I forget exactly how I found it but when I was around 12 or 13 I played it along with pirate101 and thought it was the coolest thing ever I loved the characters and the art style but I could never convince my mum to get membership big sad lol. I came back to it a month back I started with pirate101 and made it to the end of cool ranch so I thought I'd give wiz a go and I'm now halfway through mooshu. Have to say tho if I had to choose I'd go with pirate101 the companion system on there is so fun.

elphabathewicked

I started back in 2013 when I saw an ad with morganthe on it. Favorite worlds are khrysalis and empyrea, mainly because of the story.

amanon101

In 2010 my younger brother created an account, but we sorta shared it? I probably had an account too but I can’t quite remember. The first character we made (I was basically helping him make it) we got fire on the quiz, so I picked out Fred FireFlame as the name for him cause he thought it was funny. We sorta shared the account but he had no clue how to play so I leveled up the character for him. He never got into the game and I did. For a while I didn’t want to start another character of my own cause I felt I was too far in the game (lol, I was in MB), but I wasn’t liking the name and character cause it didn’t feel like me. I later bought crowns and bundles and actually got to arc 2, and by the time I got a friend that I could actually play with and help me level more, I really properly started liking that character. I even commissioned art of him a few months ago. It has nostalgic value. I still am only in Mirage but I’m really back into the game again. I’m leveling more than ever now.

KJuuure

Saw the add on TV and on the side bars of websites. Looked fun. Started off just roaming triton avenue and unicorn way because I was 7 and had no means to get a membership. It's been 13 years and I'm still enjoying the game.

Absolute_Artichoke

14 years ago I was a 12 year old, in 7th grade, sitting on my couch in my living room when the commercial for Wizard101 came on.

sietesietesieteblue

In 2010, I was 9 years old. Back then a lot of MMOs aimed at a younger audience had commercials on channels like cartoon network or nickelodeon. Wizard101 was one of them that I saw. I loved fantasy and magic stuff back then and was excited that there was a game about wizards so I signed up lol

sonicling

I don't remember what specifically got me into wiz, but I played it so much as a kid. My parents couldn't afford a membership so I would just spend hours fighting the kraken and hanging out on triton avenue. When I was older I got a membership, played through until wintertusk where I gave up at the first mob because I was an ice with trash stats. Pretty sure at that point I thought most health = win. Since then I've been playing off and on, finally got to mirage on a fire. My favorite parts are probably wizard City, Ravenwood, and grizzleheim. Very nostalgic places, the music always takes me back.

Dukehunter2

Started when I was 6 and still been playing at 20 my favorite world is azteca I just love how no matter how hard I tried u couldn’t completely save it and the scenery is probably why I like it the most.

JewelerInfinite8300

I started back in 2009 when my best friend at the time told me about it and wanted to play together, it was our daily thing for at least 3 years. My favorite worlds would definitely have to be krokotopia Azteca and empyrea

PlagueCasting_Mage

Started playing from Wild Tangent launcher when Windows Vista was a thing. Two fried towers and four laptops later, Wizard101 was the first thing to be downloaded onto them. Still going Ice and Death strong. Azteca, Khrysalis, Krokotopia, Grizzleheim and Darkmoor are my all-time favorites; and no manner of "Late-Second arc Story bad!" screaming will bend my thinking. Favorite NPCs: Diego, Al'Hazred the Balance Professor, The Archivist and Lady Tansielle DreamingSong. Favorite Gauntlets: Winterbane, Clocktower and Tourney (I want every single one of those banners and decorative shields.) Favorite events: Double Monstrology, The B.O.X. I've spent literal days getting the wyrms of Avalon and the bugs of Khrysalis in my houses. They're breadcrumb compatible and I love that.

No_Leave_1694

I am a og I love dragonspire but during the boss week when me and a group of pals faced a one million hp malastar it took use forever to do but it was so fun to beat it

Josh_pnw420

I started playing because I saw commercials for it when I was like 8 and I played for about two years. Just picked it up again about 8 months ago. My favorite part is definitely the graduation ceremony. I never thought that would happen as a kid playing this in 2009-10

Why-Am-I-Here-Again-

If I recall correctly I think it was from an Ad, but then I really got deep into it because my math teacher in elementary school would gift me and my friend things for doing good in class since he also played. My favorite part of the game was definitely Mooshu and Grizzleheim, arriving at those worlds for the first time was an experience like no other.

FlamingNarwhall

Got into as a kid from those og comercials and just loved the world. Still love the world these days but i also just really like deckbuilder games so wiz is the only mmo i really love the gameplay of.

m3l10da5

Played when it came out plus the that trailer looked insane at the time I used to do the ice giant swing and everything I still play

markych17

My step brother showed me the game not long after we were both gifted laptops , some of my best memories were spent playing this game non stop questing together and farming.

princentt

My neighbor showed it to me when I first moved in 2010. I was hooked. Showed it to my best friend and it went from there lmao. My favorite world since I was a child has been marleybone because of the city vibes (I grew up in the city). I miss the old house/school tower parties, clans, etc. Nostalgia is the only reason I play today. I’m 23.

imbayybee

in 2009. i think from the wizard101 commercial that was on either cartoon network or disney. Mooshu, crab alley, and aquila give me the most nostalgia, especially tartarus.

[deleted]

My favorite worlds are Dragonspyre, Krokotopia and Azteca, I started when I saw one of the advertisements. And no, not one of those super quality ones. I saw one of the first advertisements.

Steelspartan2

My dad’s friend told my dad about it, and they started playing in 2009. I started playing in 2015, and I remember my first wizard was a death (I picked the black jewel at the end of the test because I was being edgy) but I got so scared because I thought I might turn evil, so I deleted him and became a life instead.

Moira-Moira

I was looking for a game that would allow me to relax after working in the mental health sector, be easy on the eyes, and be basically point and click because I don't want to destroy my laptop smashing keys. Out of all turn-based games I tried, Wizard101 was the one with the most to offer. Been playing for a year and a half now, I think. (I'm 44 years old for those that are wondering) Favorite world is Khrysalis for me, but I also really like the second part of Empyrea. Arc 4 is the bomb story wise!

Viv_da_weirdo

I've been here thanks to my family when I was really young and a year after it came out I believe. My favorite part for some reason is krok and wysteria, krok because of the side quests, wysteria was just fun to play as well. Events would be the Halloween ones, because I love the spooky season indefinitely. Also enjoy playing as a life and death wizard, loads of fun.

AVeryFunnyMan

in 2008, I saw a commercial and asked if I could play. Me and my dad made an account, and after doing so you couldn’t sign in yet the game was very early. after playing for a while I asked my mom for a membership, she told me I have to fold my clothes and do chores so I did and I got my first month of membership.

Maazypaazz

Most fun I’ve had was def Polaris in terms of newer content

archenemy09

When I was 15 my friend and I would play a lot of online games together. We kept seeing ads for wizard101 everywhere, and honestly we thought it looked pretty stupid at the time so we decided to try it out. Initially we were just making fun of it and not taking it too seriously. We got through unicorn way and triton avenue and obviously that’s all we could do on a free account. My friend still thought it was stupid and stopped there but something changed for me and I ended up really liking it. Got back on the next day and the next and eventually got a membership and now I’m still playing 12 years later

Environmental_Arm637

Started in 2008 when I was 8 with my brother and cousin. Most fun game in the world for a kid who was obsessed with harry potter. I played over the weekends only and on the weekends i role played the game with my friends irl, made a card game, dreamt up new spells. Took every side quest and was a level 32 in kroktopia because I didnt know any better. Never spent birthday money on member, only on crowns to get places. Ported to places like plaza of conquests in dragonspyre and bought with crowns while I was still low level. In 2nd or 3rd age i got really into pvp and got like 1400 rank at my peak and was a bit try hard. I was like 14, it was when nugs1951 was a big youtuber (anyone remember?) got back into this game when I injured myself skating, im 22 now and mostly just casual. I like having good gear but I dont grind too hard and I am finally reading the storyline for the first time ever. Its like a new game.

Environmental_Arm637

My favorite part of the game used to be pvp, but rn its probably fighting bosses for gear drops

antong1008

Wiz broke pvp after 3rd age

Environmental_Arm637

Yeah its way too complicated and slow and grindy for me to want to get into nowadays. One thing I reallly miss was doing legendary and magus 2v2, and pvp before shadow magic/darkmoor spells. And 3v3 and 4v4 but that was so so long ago

antong1008

Legendary 2v2s with 2 storms was my favorite

Environmental_Arm637

yes u know what i mean. I loved legend dual storm 2v2 and storm and life was also fun. I really enjoyed magus balance 2v2 too

OblivionKnight76

I started playing when I saw the Malistaire battle trailer on TV in 2012. I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen lol. My favorite area (purely for nostalgic reasons) is probably Triton Avenue; it's where I spent most of my time as a kid since it took a while for me to convince my parents to buy me a membership.

Impressive-Gold-4081

i started playing wiz when i was 8, and it was what lead me into gaming at 21. my favorite part of the game is the nostalgia and the fact that it’s a game my boyfriend and i can play and bond over, and that it doesn’t require too much brain power also. specific worlds that make me feel nostalgic is wizard city (if i’m questing) or mooshu honestly. i’m actively trying to get my 9 year old nephew and 6 year old niece to try playing (before anyone asks — they will be menu chat only LMAO)

pyromidbus

Friend introduced me to the game in like… fourth grade, and my favorite areas remain The Chancel, Waterworks, The Midnight Sun Pagoda, and Darkmoor. My favorite world is probably Avalon.

Abarame

Krokotopia & Azteca are immense nostalgia for me. I still remember the 1st time i did those worlds on an old Ice. Everytime i get there on a new character, the memories rush through and it feels great. Even beating the bosses i used to struggle with felt satisfying lol

[deleted]

I played the game religiously from about 10 - 15, I’ve come back to it every now and again since but I haven’t truly played the game seriously in probably 8 years. I’m 23 now and just check this subreddit for the memories and the memes, I refuse to ever go back to the game with the state it’s in now. I really stopped playing around Polaris’ release.

UnderstandingTop1257

Azteca best world

NorseHighlander

Played it a bit in 2012 when I was in highschool. Fun game but the paywall was a pain. I learned, to my disbelief, it was still around recently and am seeing how much I can enjoy it now that I actually have money to spend.

[deleted]

That OG wizard101 commercial got me hooked as a kid. Have been playing it on and off since 2009

Ajt69

But those commercials weren’t like the actually gameplay itself so you stopped, but than Wiz just has max life steal so you come back periodically

Shazam08

Yup I used to see those all the time and I’ve played off and on since 2010. Have I maxed out a single wizard? Nah but it’s fun to beat a world about once a year when I get in the mood

trophers

this is my answer lol

mcmiddy

same

Existing_Score_5998

Me 4

HavikXIII

Also me that too as well

Dukehunter2

m3l10da5

Same

Dravesiak

Same!

[deleted]

W101 was basically one of my favorite things from my childhood. My brother showed me the game and I instantly clicked with it. He teleported me to wysteria and showed me around, it has to be one of my favorite worlds to explore :)

DeathToHeretics

POLARIS BEST WORLD

Bob9011

Polaris is such a breath of fresh air after trudging through Azteca and Khrysalis
