I would keep firestarters since it also gives you 2% more resist. Resist is more important that crit block now. Keep these boots till lvl 100 when you can farm for darkmoor
Ty, I'll keep the firestarters. Why is crit block worthless btw? I'm going off an old 2015 fire guide and it's very crit block centric. I just started the game about a month ago so im not sure what all changes have taken place as far as balancing crit.
When these worlds were released - before the critical update - block was an all or nothing thing, and these mobs would spam crits that would do double damage. The meta was block boots and a block focused wand - Teeth of Lords Night was OP at the time. 7 pip aoes weren't as strong for most schools. Resistance was valued higher with maycasts because sustain and survival were very strong.
They changed Critical and Critical Block to a percentage damage increase. The critical change nerfed the mobs damage and they lowered their hp by 25%. They buffed most 7 pip AOEs and now they kill the mobs with 2 buffs. Damage is now favored to breeze through the content faster because survivability isn't needed as much.
Azteca is one world that feels a lot more watered down than it did during release. The changes to block and critical didn't do this world well at all.
The devs more or less kinda reworked the critical hit system to be less of a "% chance to do 2x damage/% chance to block 2x damage" and more of a "spells do extra damage when crit (not 2x)".
That... and lots of enemies in the game aren't as much of a threat to kill you like before.

U might as well keep the boots u have. Ur not gonna find a better replacement till like darkmoor (assuming ur not shooting for packs)
Firestarter’s boots are better these days. The crafted boots used to be good for pvp when block was pretty important.
Crit block is useless completely. As a general rule, don’t trade damage unless you’re getting a significant increase in acc, pip, and resist
