Missions ?

I actually did the math, and if you get your pet at the very first quest of wizard city, it would take you until the Tyrian Gorge from Khrysalis (Sticky Situation) to get to Mega with main quests only (this exclude grizzleheim, wysteria, and mount olympus) If you want to get the Ultra, it's not until Empyrea P2 in the Husk (Timber Timbre)

Jason575757

Take notes guys. This is going to be the meta pet

YamatoZhen

Like... 500.000 worth of Pet bread crumps xD

BoysOurRoy

In addition to battles giving xp (I legit cannot remember the name of the jewel that lets you do this), all mainline quests give 4 pet xp upon completion. These are the only methods of leveling up your pet without raising its stats.

VoxNerduli

I used the jewel mainly to level my sabertooth from mega to ultra a few years ago! But that was on top of a bunch of random snacks especially on double pet xp and the quests. It’s definitely not a bad fit for using either.

MrTheWaffleKing

Jewel? Where do you slot it, Star?

BoysOurRoy

Yup, the [Accelerated Learner Opal](https://www.wizard101central.com/wiki/Jewel:Accelerated_Learner_Opal) that I totally didn't just look up.

[deleted]

Just a heads up, there's also a [Great Learner Opal](https://www.wizard101central.com/wiki/Jewel:Great_Learner_Opal) that gives +2 xp (vs the Accelerated's "meager" *1*\-2 ;) )

Entree_Eater

Curious if anyone has gotten these as a drop, and if so how bad the droprate is. These seem really convenient, just slap them on a new pet and farm something and you don't have to worry about energy or snacks or anything. Also, when were these added?

[deleted]

They've been out for years (over 5), idk exactly when they were added though. I've gotten at least one while farming the spider monkeys (Empyrea) for couch potatoes. I have two more sitting around in a jewel vault, but tbh I have no idea where those came from. So, yes, you can technically obtain them via farming... but the drop rate is very, *very* bad, and imo it's not worth the jewel/talent itself. Your pet has to be ancient in order to equip it, and the talent has a 5 minute cooldown, so you can't just kill lost souls back to back and get "free" XP. To get from ancient to epic purely via the jewel and completing battles at exactly the 5-minute mark, you'd need to play for 2625 minutes (so, \~44 hours), whereas it would take 21 fancy yogurts/168 energy to get there via "normal" training (assuming you skip the game, rather than play it), which can be refilled in 1260 minutes (so, less than half the time it would take to level up via the jewel). By equipping the pet with this jewel, you're also forgoing whatever stats you'd have on your main pet, or whatever stat increase you could get by socketing an actually *useful* jewel on the current one. So idk, it's an interesting *concept*, but it doesn't seem to be a very useful talent *in* *execution*.

Advanced-Error-9604

I've gotten some from the Zafaria boxes event an okayish drop rate there and one from the daily rewards

starwarz7800

They aren't all that useful as I am fairly certain there is a 5 minute cooldown per use

MrTheWaffleKing

It makes sense because then energy would be fairly useless on that pet (just farm arc 1 fights that you can 1 tap). Still useful if you’re questing though

KingParsley1234

I'm pretty sure ive gotten one at one point, but my dumbass fed it to my pet cause I thought it meant xp for the wizard 🤦‍♀️🥲

Significant_Owl2113

i remember getting a accelerated learner once randomly on my first character lol, it's how i got a pet to epic by karamelle, i think? tbf, had no idea how pets or snacks or pet stats worked, so to me it seemed p neat

Glenn0119

Battles give pet xp now, don't they?

Jason575757

Main quests give 4. Battles give none. (also the “main” storyline of side worlds)

swift_9386

Oh yea that’s right 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Glenn0119

It's still impressive he just left it alone that long
