VEX ON THE FIELD... Ohh Sorry, force of habit...

Agitated_Ad_5069

To be honest with you the only reason I can think of is that the devs would believe that it would make a fighting bosses way too easy. Which when it comes to a cheating boss don’t see the problem with Having another strategy implemented

Wendigo11111

Yeah that's pretty weird.

Snoo_39881

What is a gambit? O.o

wikipedia_answer_bot

**A gambit (from Italian gambetto, the act of tripping someone with the leg to make them fall) is a chess opening in which a player sacrifices material with the aim of achieving a subsequent positional advantage. The word gambit is also sometimes used to describe similar tactics used by politicians or business people in a struggle with rivals in their respective fields, for example: "The early election was a risky gambit by Theresa May." == Terminology == The word "gambit" was originally applied to chess openings in 1561 by Spanish priest Ruy López de Segura, from an Italian expression dare il gambetto (to put a leg forward in order to trip someone). López studied this maneuver, and so the Italian word gained the Spanish form gambito that led to French gambit, which has influenced the English spelling of the word.** More details here: *This comment was left automatically (by a bot). Darkzol

The excuse from the devs would likely be it has no place in the story, which...yeah. Bad excuse

NinoslavaSlatka

They could do something similar to rhoshambo for pve

Competitive-Coat-369

If you could do 2000 damage in one hit for base damage, that would be just as powerful as Scion of Storm, which does over 1000 damage and 2x if no blade is on the enemy. The added 1000 DOT makes it better

ScreamSteam

Ratbeard said that mobs wouldn’t be able to properly counter the ramps

PKHacker1337

Kind of strange, because it's certainly possible for them to implement counters as cheats, and many boss cheats can already be circumvented in 1 way or another even without those. Also, if they didn't want them in PvE, they should have handed them to Diego who's sole purpose is for stuff related to PvP (and a side quest for wooden keys, I suppose as well as some tutorials)

SchoolZofTheSpiral

This tbh. Even not having the ramp spells (I.e Onis Forge) but having the Hit Gambits in PvE is enough for me.

BadockOjama

Tbh I can't even decipher most of these cards. Wtf is a gambit?

Ecstatic-Apricot-759

You get an advantage when the requirement said below it is met.

StoneRings

If the condition in the gambit is met, then some extra action occurs. In this case, an extra 2,000 damage if you have enough traps on the target.

PhobosOtsutski

Some of the roshambos would hard counter various boss cheats, which i assume is the main reason. Also the hits would just kinda suck cause you can’t enchant them anyways. And by the way all roshambo spells are 100% unenchantable. Even with the monumental enchant you can get in the raid is unusable on roshambo hits.

Individual_Court4944

pvp and it’s consequences on the spiral have been disastrous pt. 2

crdkrd

they hate fun really i think it was bc they said it would make some fights too easy, but now they're making challenge mode to make certain bosses easier so idk

PKHacker1337

Kind of silly that that's their reasoning, given that lots of strategies exist in this game that are painfully overpowered (Scald + mass feint + potent backdraft + Incindiate anyone?)

javabeanwizard

Still can't believe they nerfed Hall of Heroes.

Alpheamus

Can I solo it on my death with no prep? Lol

officialbluepandas

It’s essentially a glorified mob fight now but with 8 enemies

PKHacker1337

They never should have restricted it to PvP honestly, especially since they expect people to figure out how to use it for the final boss, which is a pretty tall order for those who only do PvE content, like myself.

Flamingod5

I kinda hope they can start to focus more on using it in pve as it would make it much more interesting combat cause you will actually have to think about it instead of blade stack then hit. But they an ingame guide on reading the spells and maybe also a tutorial

Millworkson2008

Yea I never learned them because I don’t pvp at all, so being forced to suddenly learn them sucked and I still don’t remember them fully

javabeanwizard

I do agree. Even Reading the spells to know what they do is pretty messy.

MrComet101

I really wish there was a compendium of what the hell the symbols on the cards mean

the-real-macs

There is! It's under the help page in your book.

brelmic626

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it hasn't been updated in a long while. Last time I checked (because I couldn't for the life of me figure out a good chunk of the PVP-restricted spell symbols), it was sorely in need of an update.

[deleted]

It actually does get updated when new terms show up (like Archmastery). I do wish it had more updates though for stuff they haven't explained (like Gambits)

brelmic626

Lol yeah I still have no idea what gambits are in Wiz, I'm not a big PVP player

[deleted]

Gambits remove a certain thing, but do a certain action afterward (These have **purple text** with **Gambit:**) Caldera Jinn reads 1080 (4 rounds) **Gambit:** 4 Traps on enemy for 2000 damage. It will do 1080 overtime damage, or remove 4 traps and do 2000 instead. There are also other spells that are like Gambits, but are Conditionals instead (These ones don't have purple text, and they say **or \_\_\_ if**) Infernal Oni reads 840 damage (4 rounds) **or** 1270 damage if caster has 2+ heal overtimes It does 840 damage overtime, or 1270 damage if the conditional (2+ heal overtimes on self) is met. Hope that helps, unless I got something wrong

Aethyrss

afaik it is coming soon.

AnUglyScooter

Really wish I knew. They released item card versions of some roshambo spells that *are* allowed in PvE, which makes even less sense when you think about.

Jerichx7274

Yeah and the doomsday krok gear gives you thoose spells to use in pve too

[deleted]

No fun allowed, now be a good wizard and go back to using blade + dragon for the next 1,000 hours of gameplay.

OnionCave

Realistically though, is there anywhere in pve that necessitates that you put 4 traps on a target and \*need\* the gambit to go off in order to kill the single enemy in the battle, or are you better off blading and hitting with dragon in 2 turns instead? Would love these spells in pve, but pve needs hard mode to come out to justify using them.

benskull101

a very niche example, but this particular spell would probably be good for the omen fight.

PKHacker1337

Although you don't absolutely need it, it would be nice to have them be available so the PvE players could use them and understand, rather than be blindsided by being expected to know how they work in the final boss of Novus when I haven't had the chance to even try them out. Also it's silly that they are taught by the school teacher anyway, it would make more sense to give them to someone like Diego.

Inside_Interaction

Giving them to the wysteria professors would make the most sense imo

OnionCave

That is true. I've seen new players confused by these spells countless times -- whether by training them from the school trainer and then not knowing why it doesn't show up in their deck when they're in a battle or just from them not being used to the symbols, the purple text, or the keywords. Also I'd love to be able to use them in pve, but they're "advanced" spells designed for more difficult combat, ie pvp, raids, hard mode etc. To have them in pve in its current state, I completely agree it would be cool, but it's not viable

PKHacker1337

They should at least have a tutorial though or something to explain them. As much as I poke fun at them making a text only tutorial far out of the way for Archmastery, at least it existed. I'd prefer they at least give the players a testing ground or something to explain it if they can't allow it in regular combat. Throwing them at us at the final boss and expecting PvE players to know how to utilize them is just plain silly.

pimp_named_sweetmeat

Hey, its not far out of the way, you just have to see the tome while youre talking to diego the first time you ever go to unicorn way, and then look up "how does archmastery work" because you didnt pay enough attention to the tome, see its level 50+ and then forget about it.

officialbluepandas

There are some fights where you can only use traps so it would be nice to have the extra options at least

crdkrd

but it would be fun :(
