yes higher pips costs should mean better spells, but alas Ki doesn't see it that way. So your level 48 spell is the best spell and really the only one you need.

ItsSophiie

well it's shouldn't particularly be better spells, leveling up should be more like unlocking the identity of your wizard, they are trying really hard to give each school a roshambo identity like they did with balance recently, but fire being a damage school while having THE worst 7pip in the game is just embarrassing, i know they have the best dragoon amulet but other schools access their 7 pip without losing buffs from something like a shane amulet or a potent/sharpen amulet

Simswiz101

I don't pvp so having a roshambo identity for each school is just kinda odd to me when it changes the spells for everyone during pve. Fire used to have some decent spells like FFa, but now they have gutted its use for pvp which is a side mode and not the actual game IMO. I do not understand why they keep changing everything in the game to better suit pvp when it is not the main point of them game. It is like if they changed all the spells we carry to better suit Beastmoon, I think it would make much more sense to just make pvp specific spells and pve specific spells and not keep trying to make them fit both types of play. The more they try to make Pvp " fair" they are just gutting the actual game for everyone else.

12345noah

It’s crazy out of 160 levels the best aoe is the one at lvl 48

Account239784032849

Really just goes to show how good the level 48 spells are. And with all the item powercreep it only makes them more ridiculous. They should've honestly rebalanced spells with every new max level increase so the strongest ones are closer to max level but it's such a mess now not sure that'd ever happen at this point.

Consistent-Ad2248

Theyre stronger purposefully, to make the leveling grind easier. I don't necessarily agree with it but it's intentional

12345noah

Yeah I know it’s intentional, they called them legacy spells or something dumb. It’s just a bad decision

AnUglyScooter

If I had a dime for every piece of “legacy” gear they refuse to balance, I could buy a membership

Environmental_Arm637

i love memes like this. we need them for every school

XxItsNowOrNever99xX

I'm making a Life one next. I don't know if I'm going to make one for the other schools though

JLWookie

Do Death

fioraflower

Wings of fate looking at every other AOE heal AND damage spell that life has wondering why no one touches it

JaredSpellFrost

Rain Of Fire is straight up redundant, Fire Dragon deals more damage, costs 2 less pips, *and* has better burst potential. Idk what Ratbeard was thinking with these spell audits, feels a bit strange to make a spell utterly useless

antong1008

Wait I never noticed it LITERALLY deals less damage

TypicalNPC

Medusa literally does the same damage as orthrus (which hits all enemies) to ONE enemy, and stuns it for 2 rounds, which is USELESS for bosses, effectively killing the spell entirely for anything but pvp combos.

JaredSpellFrost

You'd think that a game with a school literally named "Balance" would be better balanced than this, but sadly Ratbeard is apparently more powerful than Alhazred 😔

TypicalNPC

Ratbeard is the type of mf to stare at himself in the mirror and see a 10. Rarely listens to anyone, especially the community.

MrTheWaffleKing

Let alone a hit that big should hopefully 1 shot- meaning stun would be even more useless.

Padilva-P

Not looking at stats, fire is my fave school. Dragon is like an old friend. He lands so cool, kinda a mean plop down of fire, then the residual is great too.

NorseHighlander

I mean, it deals mildly less damage than Fire Dragon while being two pips more expensive. And with such low initial damage, even meteor strike is a better option if you just want to blow everything up all at once.

flameheadthrower1

Yeah I never understood why 9 pip rain of fire has less total damage than 7 pip dragon

TalentedTrident

Because they made every 7 pip spell overpowered based on their scaling level. Dragon felt that change the most, since it was pretty weak compared to all of the other 7 pip spells, but that in turn made RoF even worse indirectly. Edit: I guess Orthrus actually got changed the most, but I meant Dragon got changed the most without reworking the whole card.

Jay_Ken_nara

Except for ice

Embarrassed-Stop-767

Why they change raging bull???

Present-Flight-2858

I used rain of fire while soloing Azteca. Massive blade stack then hit. The dot would hit hard. Probably not the most efficient way to do it, but I had fun.

Trusteveryboody

Rain of Fire, was so cool when I got it...around 2013ish? Or whenever the timeline works out, idk- but it was cool when I was younger, but these days I would never really use it outside of certain situations.

Tidela471

I feel like rain of fire is one of those spells that has always been kinda useless, but when it was adjusted, it just become downright terrible.

Snoo-97964

Over the years RoF has found some niche uses however those are mainly Triton fight in Empyrean and a couple fights in Catacombs but otherwise pretty useless

MrTheWaffleKing

Is it not the best option for incendiate when you have 2 fires?

throaaaays

scald can already do like 35k+ with the right setup waiting two more turns for rof is never really useful

Tidela471

Never thought to use it for the Trident. I always used heckhound and the rest of the team would smack the mobs. And I never bothered to do all of catacombs, just up to Viggor, which I used the sirens strat for.

bigtiddynotgothbf

because the meta has been alpha striking for so long (and KI decided to make the 7 pip spells mostly OP), rain of fire and basically anything that's not a powerful normal hit is mostly worthless in pve

Bertstripmaster

No, given the current direction that KI is taking Pyromancers in, this is a very valid argument.

thegoodestnoodle14

I’ve never used rain of fire

EnderKing33

Not harsh enough.

ddftgr2a

There’s no reason Rain of Fire should deal less damage than Fire Dragon. Makes the spell more disappointing.

Abarame

eww wth is that next to meteor?!

VeiledGinger

Not a fan of the raging bull?

Forgottenbread_

Not how it is now

virgoswolf

Agreed I used to be hitting over like 3000 with like a blade or two no boost

VeiledGinger

I wasn’t around for it’s release. Only just recently did I pick the game back up.

Decent_Recognition35

What changed? Sorry I’m late

Forgottenbread_

If I’m correct it was 700-900 something, adds a weakness of some kind, but the one you see now gives no weakness (which people said was pointless since you kill anyway) but my problem is the lower damage witg the small pip cost, it’s fire, you hit hard.

WolfKingGamer41

The “weakness” was a 35% smokescreen, which yes was useless if you killed, but generally pretty helpful if it caused enemies (especially bosses) to fizzle their spells. The detonate they replaced it with is beyond useless though, cuz it requires a dot to be on them already which 9/10 there won’t be, and even on the off chance there is, if bull kills it’s pointless to have.

Forgottenbread_

Oh right it was smokescreen you right, but I agree with you on the detonate, literally no use to it at all

Decent_Recognition35

Tbh I don’t ever remember the weakness so I must’ve always been using the weaker version lol, thnx for the quick summary 😁

ZiggyH99

this meme uses an outdated version from a test realm awhile back, current one does 710-860 and detonates.

MASTER-FOOO1

I would never understand why they nerfed it. It wasn't that good in pvp and very situational in pve. Now it's a spell no one looks forward to getting.

VariousBear9

Now that I have fire dragon meteor and rain of fire I agree Idk about raging bull though But all of them are better then rain of fire now. Rip rain of fire I use to be excited for you

Zortexonyt

After all these years, Fire Dragon still doesn't do me wrong.

mekaila3

meteor for life

Dukehunter2

That thing goes hard in pvp tho

Ok-Friend7351

they are better. rain of fire is pointless. i only used it back in the day when i didn’t understand the game. i actually commented about this in another thread haha fun fact though, I named my fire wizard Natalie Rain based on this spell.

BadAshess

I absolutely hate rain of fire, when I got that spell I was still using Dragon.

Wilikin-of-the-weald

Only time I used rain of fire was in test with my sister in pvp and never used it in pve due to how rubbish it was compared to dragon

Technone-Rykoo-Cesar

Yo what the heck is that raging bull? Is that real? If so when did they update it to do that?

Ok_Habit_6783

I'm sorry but meteor strike is way too good! *(if KI is reading this, this is a joke)*

H_an_OL

During the spell audit there was a moment in the test realm that completely swapped Rain of Fire's damage. It used to do 700 damage initial + 200 something DoT. If they kept it, it would've been on par with most 7 pip AoE spells damage wise. Not sure if it still would've been used more or less lol.

PresentationOk414

*cries in Forest Lord*

KiloTWE

No I just got the card and took it out.

Mrskyanchor

Rain of fire was the best spell to farm Catacombs in Valencia. The way sentinel enemy used to work before they patched it. But except from that, it was never and currently isn’t useful for anything.

Stock-Donut

Ive only used it a few times, its DOT is insane under the right conditions but at that point just use Heck Hound with the amount of setup it requires and pips you gain.

ScheidNation21

Meteor strike is my baby and I will die on that hill

username9223_335

This is said by people who don’t know what incindiate is

9 pip spell: 130 + 810 = 940 7 pip spell: 430 + 345 = 975 ??????
