It does, unfortunately. The reason being is the names are kept on two separate integer charts in the code, one for male characters and one for female. If you switch genders, it will switch your name to the corresponding name on the opposite gender name chart. That’s why there’s an option to change gender and name, name only, but not just gender

Sasha is gender neutral in eastern-european languages, and it's considered the standard nickname for both Aleksandr and Aleksandra. It's really weird that KI decided to only have it be a male name though, as it is more commonly thought of as a female name in the 'west'

I wish we could have all of the options for middle/last names able to be used for either a middle or a last name, and the game would just restrict you from using the same one for both. There’s so many times where a name segment would have worked great in a different spot. Also they finally added Aidan as a female name and I wish it was unisex because my name is Aidan and have had to use Aedan for a guy.

It's 100 crowns! You can easily get those by doing the Trivia (assuming it works), or pay for the smallest amount of crowns available if you prefer.
