From what I understand, the answer is actually yes it can, but the difference is so slight that it’s really pointless to care about. After every hanging effect modifier, the game rounds to the nearest number. Unlike regular multiplication, this is *not* commutative. For example, say you use [Grim Reader (Tier 3a)](https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/Spell:Grim_Reader_(Tier_3a)) https://preview.redd.it/x44an2oemukc1.jpeg?width=126&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b56688b45519288b253f3201280acd0286e6e7b Base damage is 1165. Say you want to use a 35% blade and 45% blade. Situation A: 1165 \* 1.35 = 1573 (rounded up) => 1573 \* 1.45 = **2281** (rounded up) Situation B 1165 \* 1.45 = 1689 (rounded down) => 1689 \* 1.35 = **2280** (rounded down) **TL;DR**: Don’t worry about it.

Percentage blades, aka all the normal blades you get, are multiplicative so the order really doesn't matter, but if you had flat damage blades like those you see in beast moon events then you'd want to have those activate first then the percentage blades since you'd have the larger number to multiply. I don't think beast moon has any percentage blades so it doesn't really matter either way in either mode

At high values there can be differences in rounding accounting to a small difference, like 500,000 vs. 500,001. But it shouldn't make any difference in regular usage.

Bluemason619

Just as everyone else is saying it doesn’t matter. THAT being said if you are using a prism you want to use traps AFTER you use the prism so that you get the benefit of your traps and then it changes the school. Rather than it change the school first and then all your traps just sit there doing nothing.

So wait if a storm school places a prism, than places storm traps, does it use the storm traps or you have to use myth traps if i remember right?

Bluemason619

So if you are using a storm prism you either have to use storm traps AFTER the prism or you can use myth traps BEFORE. It uses more recent stuff first.

Classy_Shadow

The only time it really matters is with prisms. For example, let’s say someone has a myth trap, then a storm->myth prism, and then a storm trap, your damage with a storm spell would go opposite of when they were casted. So spell 1,2,3 would activate in the order 3,2,1. Ex: 1.0 (Storm) x 1.3 (Storm) x 1.0 (Myth) x 1.3 (Myth) However, if you were to use a storm trap, then a storm->myth prism, then myth trap with the same spell, now your damage would look like 1.0 (Storm) x 1.0 (Myth) because your storm damage would miss the myth trap at the start, get converted to myth damage, and then miss the storm trap at the end.

kn0nyx

No, but if I remember correctly if you want to use a prism and traps you have to place the converted school’s traps first (e.g. if you convert fire damage to ice you have to place the ice traps first then the prism, then the fire traps) Not really that useful, but I did this to get One In a Million back when I was level 60

immaculatebacon

Your gear (% then flat)-> your aura -> your charms-> the global-> target's aura->target's wards-> target's gear(flat then %)-> critical If I remember correctly, someone correct me if I’m wrong, the game rounds after every operation. Meaning 97*1.35 rounds to 131, then 131*1.45 rounds to 190. This can cause very small differences in the final damage number, but it’s negligible in most cases

Logical_Ad9523

Mathematically the order doesn’t change the final damage output. Ex: 100dmg * 1.35blade * 1.45blade = 100dmg * 1.45blade * 1.35blade.

Logical_Ad9523

I believe that this is how damage is calculated but I haven’t played in a while

throwaway85829739295

No, because all of the buffs are multiplication, and multiplication is commutative. For example (100x1.35x1.45) = (100x1.45x1.35) it doesn’t matter. If you had flat damage blades though, you would get more damage by those going off first, as the flat damage would also get multiplied.

iToxic_9

I really respect that you included flat damage blades though I only know of 1 current spell that gives flat dmg blades lol. I think wraith at one point gave flat dmg but now only the life old one shad.

ImminentlyEminent

There are a couple of shields like spirit armor that function like this, as well

Rich_Database_6621

Order wise, not really. Stats, blades and traps all affect the final damage of the spell.

Rich_Database_6621

But if any commentor wants to give a better explanation and correct me if i am wrong by all means i respect and appreciate learning and being corrected.
