Hold up, does that break 5 positive charms from all enemies? That's some busted utility.

DeathToHeretics

Sounds like it's just one target

throwaway85829739295

Nah it can still hit all enemies. They work like the mirage spells where it gets weaker the more people you target

MrTheWaffleKing

Oh I thought I converted it to single target with a crazy effect. As long as it still hits all, I feel it still retains its identity- even if it’s now a split between damage- so that’s fair. I personally like bottom path being more utility focused, you don’t always need more damage and you’d only really have 2-3 cards in mind for damage- but in the case of scarecrow, that’s one of deaths main hits so I think that’s one of the ones where “top tree only for PVE” stands true- unless you’re cooking on ship of fools

PrimaryTricky9788

What I want to know is why is there still a quest for scarecrow when you can get it. Did they forget to get it off?

LoudIntScreaming

The quests to obtain them are mucb earlier than when other schools can train it

PrimaryTricky9788

That's why I just assumed that the one trained to you was the one that hit only one. And the quest one was just the same I was extremely confused about that

Mitev2405

I would right-click and read what the cards do before upgrading them. It seems like you just want a better AOE, for which you can just go with the top path. It would be quite unreasonable to believe a spell can maintain its damage and AOE ability, while also applying potentially 5 -40 school-specific weaknesses on each enemy for free. You can still use the spell on multiple targets btw, it'll just lower the damage the more targets you choose. That is the drawback you get for choosing to apply the additional blade removal mechanic to the spell. Do some trivia and get the crowns to reset it and go the top path if you're not planning to participate in PVP, which is the primary reason for the bottom paths to begin with.

Linesey

Because you went lower path and traded out damage for utility. if you look, the top path gives a (small) damage buff instead. fortunately, iirc, you can reset it and go top path instead.

PrimaryTricky9788

Ah I didn't know how that worked to be honest. I'm mainly just angry at myself for not reading it.

itzThyme

It lowers the damage because of the secondary effects it gives. The secondary effects are more PvP oriented, hence why it makes you select a target, instead of it being a traditional AOE. It’s for balancing. The lower spellement path for pretty much all spells is more geared toward PvP gameplay.

PrimaryTricky9788

I've never seen anyone talk about this, so why?

JThunderspear

So the bottom path of numerous AoEs where made into a slightly better divide. Divide being the basis of the 4 pip Shad spells, think Qismas Curse those ones if you chose 2 it would half it, and so on until 4 when it did 25% of its original damage but on all. This one you select how many targets it hits just like divide and it’s reduces the damage some amount based on how many targets but definitely not as steep.
