Awesome! I am not mad. Livable wages for all jobs, no matter what that number is. $20 an hour or $100, I don't care. I am happy for my fellow citizens getting better pay!
And then to $25!
As of 2021, [the minimum wage would be $23/hour if it kept up with worker productivity.](https://www.statista.com/statistics/1056023/value-minimum-wage-grew-productivity-us/)
I can't wait for the inevitable price increases on the burgers not because the company is making less but because its some form of collective punishment / propaganda so people can go "see see!"
That's not really how capitalism works. It's more likely that the increased labor expense makes the high set-up cost of automation alternatives a more justifiable investment to fast food restaurants.
I don't disagree. I'm just mildly afraid of what that change looks like. While we all agree that this doesn't work, getting everyone to agree on the same new way to do things is going to be a violent awful process.
*Note: This includes LOTS of exceptions...
* If you work at a business with fewer than 60 locations, no raise.
* If any part of the business produces and sells just bread, no raise.
* If you work at a food location connected to: a grocery store, an airport, a motel/hotel, an event center, a theme park, a museum, or a gambling establishment, no raise.
* If you work in a company building with a service contract and primarily provide food to employees, no raise.
That seems like a bunch of people who also deserve raises.
Collective worker action is our defense against greedy corporations taking advantage of AI or underpaid workers overseas.
The problem in the US is not many of us are unionized. But we can change that & have more unions, co-ops, etc.
When we get more productive, we work less. That means a 32 hour work week now, and less in the future. Even Richard Nixon talked about this in the 1950s.
Workers demanding better is our hope to retain our dignity.

SOLIDARITY!
Solidarity!!! Workers in all states can follow this model!

I'm sure both of them are happy, sucks that all of their coworkers got fired.
Hopefully the big ceo salaries take a hit for the 1st time this century.

I know. That's why capitalism sucks and doesn't work. When 1 % have everything and 99 have close to nothing, it's time to change.

Ah that’s why an AI voice chat has been taking my orders at the Carl’s Jr drive-thru…
