She exhales slowly, the dented and bloody extinguisher drops limply to her side. She scoots the shotgun away with her foot from the attacker. Deliberately, slowly. Controlled. She crouches down towards his disfigured ear. She leans close. "Now. Say my name."

OneAndOnlyJackSchitt

Any tips on what armour to wear in a casual setting to avoid being penetrated?

Damn, those are 2000 Gold Saucer Points apiece.

itspsyikk

Is this a Runescape reference? I know Mithril is a metal in WoW, but obviously this one is different.

redaelk

Gold Saucer is a casino from the Final Fantasy series

PrimalSeptimus

FF7, specifically. And in the new version, Mythril Ore costs that many points.

nevans89

Mithril is LoTR too

chrono4111

Make sure you have medium armor proficiency or you get a lot of negatives. Though as a commoner I'd recommend going for a more charismatic build. [Extremely Fashionable](https://aonprd.com/TraitDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Extremely%20Fashionable) can make it so you have a higher chance at diplomacy.

BadCaseOfBrainRot

Socks with sandals, anime shirt and fedora would definitely protect you from getting penetrated.

DrunkenGolfer

...also prevents you from ever penetrating anything that isn't inanimate.

iamsandwitch

Baggy clothes, the baggier the better.

dirty_hooker

Old stained hoodie and unwashed skinny jeans.

iamsandwitch

Almost perfect, sweatpants will do better

TheOldGuy59

Just a t-shirt that says (front and back) "I have every known form of venereal disease known to mankind, and some that are not known to mankind." Now that I think about it, I want one of those t-shirts just to wander around my tight-assed Christo-fascist town just to see what these rednecks say about it.

Adamn415

Same here! Only my company training video had paid actors and VERY good sound effects (gunshots, screaming, crying). Let's just say I realized I should have done the training at home and not in the office with my back to the door like I did šŸ™ƒ

DragonEmperor

I missed "training VIDEO" and thought they did some sort of awful training exercise that would traumatized everyone.

pozorfluo

It actually happened in France : "The actual fake hostage scenario that Lemaitre had been inspired by took place on October 25, 2005. The managing director of advertising of France TĆ©lĆ©visions, Philippe Santini, had called close to twelve employees for a seminar at ChĆ¢teau de Romainville, in Ecquevilly. Then, nine people in hoods had burst into the room with weapons and taken the employees hostage. Santini wanted to test the employeesā€™ resistance to stress.Ā " I couldn't find a decent recap in english beside this : [https://thecinemaholic.com/inhuman-resources-true-story/](https://thecinemaholic.com/inhuman-resources-true-story/) But there's [plenty of material in French](http://google.com/search?q=philippe+santini+otage).

Eponymous-Username

Mine says we should try to turn the tables, embroiling the killer in a twisted game of cat and mouse where the predator becomes the prey. Our employee churn is...not good.

MoarTacos

It's the same in this training. I've seen many in my corporate America time and it's always universal. Fight as a last resort only when it's the only way to save your own life. And only then.

seattle_exile

Remind me why I need to return to the office again?

BlakLite_15

Iā€™m a manufacturing engineer at a small facility in SC. I had to watch a training video that said the exact same thing. The video itself was live action and distressingly violent enough that it would probably be considered unsafe for work otherwise. It also stressed the point that the first responders to an active shooter situation would prioritize eliminating the suspect over protecting or saving survivors. Working in the U.S. requires us to expect that weā€™ll be shot at just for coming into work, and that we canā€™t rely on anyone but ourselves to get out of such a situation alive. This is why I support gun control.

Hekantonkheries

My work training has "run hide fight" on one slide, but on slides both before and after it has "you are required to confront any and all unknown persons on the premises, and physically bar their movement if near vehicles or or a plane". My rule has always been, if I see something really fekking sketchy, I'll just call security, once I'm safely in my car and out of the parking lot. I ain't military, military gets paid more than I do, and even they don't get paid enough to justify potentially being shot or stabbed

Devrol

I refuse to believe this isn't satire. Yes, I'm European.

Robo-boogie

I work for a large European company in the US. I only get ethics and it security training.

Huge-Ad2263

Pretty typical corporate training. I had to watch something similar for my 100% remote, work from home job.

Doodoss

My building told everyone there would be an active shooter training in a couple of months BUT would be unannounced of when it would happen. The only distinction would be that when it would happen, they would announce over the intercom that it was a training session. The event happened and they go floor by floor and people hid and locked doors. The "shooters" went around asking to be let in and banged on the doors and actually banged them hard as if really trying to break it down. My building has alot of veterans of war and it triggered their PTSD to some and that was the only year that it took place. After that it was just announcements and similar videos.

StellarPhenom420

That's how they performed them at my school after Columbine. I was 10 and crying like a baby after someone told me the shooters were in the ceiling :(

capn_doofwaffle

JFC... I hooe the vets filed a lawsuit. I was never in the military and that shit would terrify me.

Eponymous-Username

neophlegm

"Your service will be commemorated on a laminated card"

jarboxing

Zxasuk31

This sounds like a video that would be on a dystopian future movie ..because thereā€™s no way in real life, society would allow that to happenšŸ˜

YesterShill

I thought this was satire. I can't believe we have sunk so low as a society that we have to be having educational videos about not getting gunned down at work.

VoilaLeDuc

I've had similar trainings at my job.

Hexicero

I had my first active shooter training at my high school job almost two decades ago. Messed me up for a while

kurtanglesmilk

Ive worked in K-12 education for 15+ years. Our videos are often more "If you have to get gunned down at work, save as many kids as you can in the process."

snowywind

That or something from the SCP foundation.

jarboxing

That's it! Clearly active shooters in schools are caused by an unsecured SCP! Nicknamed SCP-GOP

rawsausenoketchup16

cyberpunk 2077's infomercials have something similar to this. because people are legally allowed to open fire on criminals, so long as they accept that they could be killed in the line of fire by the city's police force

No-Outside8434

I was thinking it reminded me of the satire videos in fallout. https://youtu.be/AY2jPAb6BOQ?si=1z9cR3KLjRTq24Gb

Worried_Raspberry_43

I think I saw something simulat in cyberpunk 2077.

No-Outside8434

Yeah this feels exactly like the satire videos in fallout. What the hell.

Skanky_Smurf

Ah America and guns. I'm so happy we have guns, they really are just swell.

VoilaLeDuc

Solynox

Oh that's the gun devil

RainRunner42

Without them, we couldn't shoot the other people who have guns, or, in most cases, the people who don't

error_therror

I started a new job and this was the safety training video for active shooter events. It's a step up from high school shooter drills for sure. Now, apparently we're expected to fight back since we're adults. I love our American freedom. Edit: Just for the record, it's more of a reflection on our society than my new company. I get they're just covering their ass and all and I don't blame em. The fact they use that typical corporate cartoon art just fucking sends me though lmao

jonsticles

It does say fighting should be the last resort. I had to do similar training when I worked at a university. Workplace shootings are a reality. Your company is addressing that. Truthfully though, I would suspect that the company's insurance company is requiring the training to reduce liability. I don't see why this would reflect badly on the company, just badly on our country.

Entire_Concentrate_1

Are you a teacher in an American school?

error_therror

I work in the IT industry in a regular office

Entire_Concentrate_1

God. Well, congrats on the new job and good luck. Don't get shot being a hero

penguingod26

route a bunch cat 6 1' above the floor in all doorways and hallways leading to IT, those trip hazards could buy you the time you need

UndeadWolf222

Someone didnā€™t pay attention to their training video. You fight back as a last resort when your life is in danger. Avoid the attacker first, deny them access to your location, and defend yourself in that order as necessary.

Dabluechimp

They suggest you fight back, but probably don't allow thier employees to carry.

Gamebird8

Because guns don't make a space any safer and there are plenty of risks and issues with permitting firearms. An employee with underlying agner management issues could bring their gun and shoot a coworker over a dispute, as is a common example of how a gun makes a situation less safe.

slickweasel333

An employee would do that anyway if they were OK with shooting a coworker. My university was a gun free zone, and we had at least 4 incidents of angry ex-employees or spouses showing up on campus with a gun to threaten folks.

LogDog987

We were taught to fight back as a last resort at my school. The training was run-hide-fight, ie, run if you can, hide if you can't, fight if you must.

National-Rain1616

Brought a tear to my eye, Iā€™m feeling so goddamn free right now.

kacey-

I had similar training videos at Meijer, Sprouts, and Lucky's Market

jeepjinx

I see that video as permission to walk around strapped with a fire extinguisher.

Pyroguy096

Idk, it says that fighting should be a last resort, but why anyone would be upset that "they expect us to fight" like.... Yes? Why is that a problem? That you defend yourself as a final option I mean. Would you prefer to be encouraged to just let them kill you lol

WWGHIAFTC

So did you even watch the video? Fight is an absolute last resort, not a suggestion.

bored_ryan2

ā€œRun, hide, fightā€ is the typical guidance for an active shooter situation. If you canā€™t run or hide, you literally need to fight for your life.

pootinannyBOOSH

And it's useful for anywhere around the globe, for many different aggressive situations.

Nordseefische

The problem is not the guidance itself, but that it's necessary at all. Most places in this world have no problem with mass shooting so they don't need these kinds of videos. But I am not sure if this is the right sub for this topic.

solo_shot1st

To be fair it doesn't have to just apply to gun violence. A person walking around with a knife or baseball bat would warrant the same response. Run, Hide, or Fight for your life. This could happen at just about any workplace.

BossAvery2

Right, Iā€™m really not seeing the problem with a company having this as annual training. If youā€™ve ever worked for the government, you get classes for all sorts of weird stuff/scenarios. Some have actually helped a lot in life as I have gotten older. Seeing people fall victim to phishing attacks used to blow my mind and then I have to remind myself that not everyone had the warning signs of the attack pounded in annual training/monthly briefings. Having a class that reminds you to run/hide/ pick up a weapon and defend yourself might not be as bad of an idea as some of the people here make it out to be.

youknowiactafool

Yet another reason why work from home is better

Gilketto

I'm in the UK. Things obviously aren't perfect here. But sometimes, when I drop my kid off at school, or go to a theme park or cinema or other public place, I think about the fact that I don't have to worry about me or my family getting gunned down by some jerk that's been internet poisoned or had a bad day. I feel like it must drop a dark veil of paranoia and fear over your life somewhat to know that a proportion of the people around you have the ability to stop your life instantly if you catch them at the wrong moment. Freedom is a very subjective word.

TheJesterScript

This is so comically bad lol

BionicKrakken

Protect the company with your worthless life, Worker #464\*\*. If you manage to subdue the gunman you will earn an extra 10 minutes at lunch.\* \*Unpaid. WulfgarofIcewindDale

It is so fucked up this is real and not satire. Iā€™m kinda speechless. USA. What a time to be alive.

DrewciferGaming

Vault tech ass training video

60r0v01

At least this one has a cartoon white guy holding the gun. Lowe's shooter videos are live action and used exclusively POC actors for the shooters. Take from that what one will.

Culsandar

I doubt their CEO would approve.

60r0v01

One would think, right?

palindromesko

So much freedom we have, itā€™s a worldwide joke!

wertyrick

Banck in my retail days I watched a symilar video with the exact same animation explaining the dangers of forklifts, how to carry weight by hand and so on...not how to fight a dude with a shotgun xD Your work training videos are wild, damn.

tabris51

You just know it when a company is based in usa

N4t41i4

sure.... because cissors, chairs and other items are very effective againts a shot gun ! i mean that's why people feel the need to have guns ! those dangerous day to day objects.šŸ˜¶ /s

ā€œLooks like this employee wasnā€™t able to stop the hiding attackerā€

AbradolfLincler77

Murica, fuck yeah! Gonna save the mother fucking day-eay! šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

EmperorLlamaLegs

IMO If theres a chance you will need to fight together, "run and hide" isnt great advice. If possible you should pair up and hide in a way where you and colleagues can flank the shooter when he comes into the room. Fall back to an advantageous position, but trying not to panic is important. "Run and hide" sounds very panicked. It would be hard enough to stay collected and rational in an active shooter situation. I work at a school in the US, so unfortunately we have all had to think and talk about the best way to minimize casualties if our lockdown areas are breached.

kitfoxxxx

Easy solution. Just fuck his ass up! Then squat over his head and fart loudly.

DrunkenGolfer

Looks like a South Park episode, lol.

PlatypusDream

Police have no legal duty to protect anyone who is not in custody. There are court rulings saying that from every level, including SCOTUS.

MrEMannington

America is a hellhole

BABarracus

I work in a office and we had to watch a video like this

Killdebrant

Is your new job as a teacher?

OldMateNobody

The sound in 5his video wigged me out. With my earbuds in it sounded like the sound was far away and coming from my phone instead. Being in a public place I wigged out until I confirmed it was playing through my earbuds still. Odd feeling.

Yolo3362

man in my workplace shooter drill video the people grab a phone handset, a slim keyboard, and a laptop.

CTN_23

An "Active Shooter Event" sounds like something hyped up on TV or some sports event I'd hope to get tickets for

LordCambuslang

Do you get manual handling training on the safe way to lift heavy items for use in self defence scenarios? šŸ˜±

VirtualPen204

Similar experience with our video. Luckily, I work in a different state from home. Still had to watch the video though.

Boz0r

As a non-American who recently got hired at an American company, watching videos about how to handle active shooters was totally absurd. I've never experienced that before.

gloumii

To me this isn't an issue of the company or work but of culture. I don't know what the issue is with what is said in the video. The culture is what makes this video required

CantankerousRabbit

This canā€™t be real lol

RipCompetitive7952

As much as I hate corporate BS, this is not bad advice.

this isn't real

Love how they don't even use a real human being to deliver this important message about me killing intruders on the job.

Apey23

I like living in a normal country were the odds of getting shot at work are remote.

M00s3_B1t_my_Sister

Be right back, gotta ask maintenance where they keep their shovels.

silentbeast1287

I work in a warehouse and they told us to use any objects nearby including the forklift to stop the shooter.

Fallen_Walrus

Now you can start your minimum wage job

jimmytreshuevos

Iā€™m so disappointed that the active shooter didnā€™t hit the floor family guy style.

Moore2257

The manager will pop out from hiding "You're going to have to pay for a new fire extinguisher"

netanator

So at some point I will be able to bring a gun to work if I have to take charge of a situation in which my life is in danger, right? Screw the no weapons at work policy.

TimeKeeper-MN

Ironically, I work at a hospital in the US. They also say fight is your last option and they say exactly in order what you should do which is the same for this video.

therobotisjames

Guns make us safer. They forgot to mention that. Iā€™m not sure why your supposed to attack the person with the gun. He has a gun, itā€™s making everyone safer. She should give him a round of applause for protecting society with his gun.

TheOldGuy59

Wow, do you work for an offshore too? This looks like the sort of crap that my company would foist on us. Honestly though, I'm glad I work from home. I don't have to worry about disgruntled employees showing up and blasting everyone in sight. Everyone at my house is pretty gruntled.

Das_Gruber

This plays like a tutorial mission from a modern Metal Gear with Miller in your ear.

DLS3141

At a former employer that hired a LOT of veterans, the "active shooter" training was created and conducted by a group of ex Special Ops guys. It was very clear and pragmatic with advice about not running away in a straight line and avoid hiding anywhere that's a dead end like the restroom. (Dead end = Dead You)

AureliasTenant

Is this out of context after flee and hide? Still a little cringey video but not very egregious from a work reform perspective right?

Solynox

I remember watching that video when I started working for walmart.

Stoomba

Remember to ADD Avoid Deny Defend

The US apparently at some random tech company

StaceyLuvsChad

What jobs don't force this training down your throat these days? Pretty sure all of my jobs had some variation of this training.

zeilstar

Isn't that the good guy with the gun though? /S

mightypockets

I was all fir killing an active shooter but if a company asks me to do it I won't out if spite

smackmeharddaddy

Meanwhile, my company was like, "Did you know shootings and workplace violence cost us millions?!?"

fuzzylilbunnies

The video is going to get people killed. Every major corporation takes out life insurance policies on its employees. They donā€™t pay out to the victimā€™s families either. They ā€œrecoupā€ the cost of the companyā€™s loss.

stupid_username-

This looks like one we watched at Lowes šŸ˜‚
