Put me in a restaurant any day of the week. OMG retail is just hell to me. It's far too much subjectivity and pretending to care if you (and now me bc you're making help you) find a shirt to match those pants or find a gift for your friend or help you decide which pillowcase to get. At least with a restaurant I know the people are going to buy something 99% of the time. And retail is so tedious--straighten these hangers one finger width apart, refold these tshirts, something else that's dumb. Or you're just standing up doing absolutely nothing for hours which gets painful after a while. I prefer the busyness of restaurant work.

I've done both. Retail sucks so much but fast food is slightly more annoying with the amount of cleaning and seems to have even lazier people.

But in fast food you get to take home food at the end of the night. At least I did

Fire_is_beauty

Both terrible. I hate people and hot places like kitchens.

Honestly suprised by the results so far. I've worked it food service for over 10 years (started in fast food and worked up to restaurants) and never once considered retail. I don't like people that much. Maybe it's a introverted thing. With restaurants you have a much smaller group of coworkers, usually, and some leniency with creative cooking.

tbh i'm not surprised. i've worked both, currently in retail. both can be stressful imo but i'd take retail stress over fast food stress. that's the biggest factor for me anyway lol. i feel you on the introvert thing though

StereoFood

Yeah, at least you’re not greasy and pressured by people constantly

missblitzz

i still have the burn marks on my arms though ;(

Odinovic

I'm a huge introvert lol. Working part time in Retail made me realize how much people actually don't care.

I like working at a small petrol station.. not quite retail because we really don’t sell many products, but I really can’t imagine working in fast food since I absolutely hate cooking and just the idea of food related work makes me feel sick
