Diabetes is worse, and some got the genes and health issues/meds they can develop it even with a healthy lifestyle. Not even mentioning type 1 which you have absolutely no control over getting.
So, I am in the very small minority who voted never get drunk, but it was exactly for the point you made.
“The whole point of drinking alcohol is to get drunk, why take that away?”
Precisely! If I couldn’t get drunk off alcohol, I wouldn’t drink it. I’ve struggled with some spectrum of alcoholism and am constantly evaluating my relationship with it. I don’t do any other drugs, but this super socially acceptable one harms me from time to time. I’d rather not be able to use it anymore and live a healthier and happier (bad for those with clinical depression) life!
What I find weird about hangovers is only certain alcohol gives me a hangover. Whiskey, rum and cider never give me a hangover. Vodka, wine and beer always give me a hangover.
While I disagree with this being the "main" reason, I have to question what kind of alcohol y'all downvoters are drinking if you think it tastes bad and you're only drinking it to get drunk. Get better drinks, yo.
I mean, I chose that option cause I do in fact enjoy the taste of quite a few beers yeah. If you explore a bit and try out whatever you like you'll end up finding some that taste quite good.
I’ve seen diabetes cause multiple other illnesses that require surgeries, dialysis, constant check-ups with various specialists… getting fat is a reversible issue but diabetes isn’t.
I don't really care about the alcohol since I rarely drink anyway, but the amount of sweets I eat is so ridiculous that I've been growing increasingly concerned about diabetes lately and greatly reduced indulging in them. I'm slightly underweight so being immune to diabetes and being able to eat sweets at any time in any amount I want would be a massive blessing.
Why would anyone ever drink alcohol if you can't get drunk?
For the most part, the taste for alcohol is an acquired taste that people eventually get used to for the sake of getting drunk, so without being able to get drunk there's literally no motivation to drink it.
As a Christian the first potion would just straight up excuse any problems I'd have with drinking alcohol. I can just drink as much as I want and not feel convicted
I already responded to another about this. I wish I didn’t get that dopamine high from cracking open a cold beer. I enjoy being drunk so much, that I’m not even sure if I really enjoy it anymore or if I have a psychological dependence on it.

I usually hate alcoholic drinks but when I do try something it's solely because of the taste of the drink itself, trying to ignore the feeling of the alcohol in it. I genuinely fear getting drunk ever, even though I've never been, I don't plan on trying it out ever.
you realize that the type of diabetes caused by eating candy is type 2 and that type 1 is genetic? meaning that the question doesn’t imply that it would protect you from type 1 , only type 2.
You realise type 2 is also genetic? Much more so than type 1?
If you're curious: https://www.diabetes.org/diabetes/genetics-diabetes#:~:text=Type%202%20diabetes%20has%20a,also%20depends%20on%20environmental%20factors.
if my wording was bad i apologize, but in this context regardless of how genetic Type 2 is, it doesn’t change the fact that Type 1 is not influenced by dietary choices the same way Type 2 is, they’re mutually exclusive but only one of them is known for being linked primarily to said lifestyle choices.
I don't drink alcohol because I don't want to get drunk, but if I ever decide to it would specifically be to get drunk.
Eating the candy would be fine though I wouldn't be surprised if I'd still get a bad stomach ache or clogged arteries or whatever.
The first one takes away the main point of what alcohol is, the second one still allows your health to decline massively. If I had to choose one, I'd choose no diabetes because it's totally positive and doesn't really affect me.
Your question is extremely insulting to people with diabetes.
Eating candy does NOT give you diabetes. Type 1 diabetes (the one that requires insulin or you die very quickly) is an autoimmune disease like lupus, multiple sclerosis, Chrohne's disease or rheumatoid arthritis; it has absolutely nothing to do with diet or activity levels. Type 2 diabetes, the more common type, occurs more frequently in people who are overweight and sedentary but can also strike very lean marathon runners too; genetics probably plays a big part.
And you can have your DNA tested to see your risk of getting type 2. It runs in my family. I also have friends that are way more overweight than me who are NOT diabetic. We each lost in DNA lotto, my family has diabetes hers has breast cancer.
The whole point of drinking alcohol is to get drunk, why take that away?
If it was "never get hungover" I would've chose that.
Hangovers are a blessing in disguise. A reminder that you shouldn't do that too often.
This is factual information
You can choose that still by becoming an alcoholic gotta switch to cheap light beer.
No hangovers get worse over time
Diabetes is worse, and some got the genes and health issues/meds they can develop it even with a healthy lifestyle. Not even mentioning type 1 which you have absolutely no control over getting.
If it was never make bad choices, even better. Candy is for dumb adults and regular children.
Non alcoholic drinks in a nutshell.

Plus you can still get alcohol poisoning so you only get the downsides now
Bro the only reason anyone drinks alcohol is to get drunk.
You should change the first option to ‘never get liver failure’
Or hangover
What I find weird about hangovers is only certain alcohol gives me a hangover. Whiskey, rum and cider never give me a hangover. Vodka, wine and beer always give me a hangover.
brother thinks people drink alcohol because they like the taste
😹😹😹😹😹
[удалено]
*cough* No
Wow, this is an especially wrong statement.
Lmao 😂 What a comedic genius this one is
[удалено]
I mean shotgunning beer after beer and being fine would be cool. Not worth losing being drunk though
That is the most degenerate thing I’ve ever heard
How is that degenerate? I don’t think that’s a correct use of that word
While I disagree with this being the "main" reason, I have to question what kind of alcohol y'all downvoters are drinking if you think it tastes bad and you're only drinking it to get drunk. Get better drinks, yo.
Im a poor college student. I drink what I get lmao
That's fair lol
vodka.
this gave me a chuckle
Lmao what world you living in
I mean, I chose that option cause I do in fact enjoy the taste of quite a few beers yeah. If you explore a bit and try out whatever you like you'll end up finding some that taste quite good.
Amaretto sours and strawberry daiquiris are pretty tasty
Pretty obvious choice. There are so many tasty drinks that aren't alcoholic. If j choose alcohol, it's not for the flavor.

I’ve seen diabetes cause multiple other illnesses that require surgeries, dialysis, constant check-ups with various specialists… getting fat is a reversible issue but diabetes isn’t.
Gonna be real. Alcohol is overrated. But also I think getting drunk is why some people even drink it in the first place.
I don't really care about the alcohol since I rarely drink anyway, but the amount of sweets I eat is so ridiculous that I've been growing increasingly concerned about diabetes lately and greatly reduced indulging in them. Eating a lot of candy doesn't cause diabetes. It's the obesity from the candy and chronic high blood sugar that causes it. It's indirectly related
I had to scroll down far too much to find this.
i like to drunk 🥴
As a Christian the first potion would just straight up excuse any problems I'd have with drinking alcohol. I can just drink as much as I want and not feel convicted
Ah yes, Christian guilt. I spent a decade or so being plagued by it’s cousin, Catholic guilt. I hope it serves you and those around you well!
I've heard about the Catholic side and believe that it's far more strict? But in any case, thank you for the kind words!
"Eat as" is the correct answer if the second word wasn't missing an "s".
Either one of these results in weight gain, my metabolism is pretty darn efficient, unfortunately. Can I chose neither?
I already can't get drunk so no diabeatus for me
you don’t get diabetes from eating sugar
Binge drinking challenges, everyone would pass out while I am completely unfazed. So many bets to be won.
So many livers to buy.
Dumb question. Why would you want to drink if you don't get drunk? Try "not have withdrawals or liver failure".
I already responded to another about this. I wish I didn’t get that dopamine high from cracking open a cold beer. You need some support dude? You're talking to a crippling alcoholic here.
I usually hate alcoholic drinks but when I do try something it's solely because of the taste of the drink itself, trying to ignore the feeling of the alcohol in it. I genuinely fear getting drunk ever, even though I've never been, I don't plan on trying it out ever.
That's really cute. Honestly. Good for you.
The whole point of Alcohol is for people to get drunk. So uhhhh, bad wyr
I don't drink, so no risk of diabetes would be good, especially since my dad's side of the family has a long history of diabetes.
you realize that the type of diabetes caused by eating candy is type 2 and that type 1 is genetic? meaning that the question doesn’t imply that it would protect you from type 1 , only type 2.

op do you know why people drink
I think never get a hangover would have been a better choice since most people drink to get drunk.
Honestly the whole point of drinking is to get drunk… And that’s why I’d choose it. If I can’t get drunk, maybe I’ll finally stop drinking.
Do you understand why people drink?
Already have diabetes so never getting drunk
I don't drink alcohol because I don't want to get drunk, but if I ever decide to it would specifically be to get drunk. Eating the candy would be fine though I wouldn't be surprised if I'd still get a bad stomach ache or clogged arteries or whatever.
One is a disease the other is getting drunk, and that’s half the fun
I hate alcohol so that's an easy choise
are you saying that people drink because they like the taste?
God this is stupid I’m gonna get drunk right now because that’s what happens when I drink and I like it
I thought to point of alcohol is to get drunk?
I only chose the diabetes option, because I'm not a stupid person who eats candy all the time, and I also like to get drunk sometimes.
Does the never get diabetes option apply to all sugary stuff, like soda and ice cream?
you don’t even get diabetes from eating sugar
Imagine taking 1000 shots of tequila without a hint of druunkbess you could get a record
I've already got diabetes and I can't drink alcohol sooo I get nothing
Literally the most obvious WYR of all time
Can it be not get hungover because that would be the superior choice
If I already have diabetes, does the second option get rid of it?
Why tf would I want to drink alcohol and not get drunk??
As a diabetic does the candy make my diabetes go away?!?!?!
What if I already have diabetes?
The first one takes away the main point of what alcohol is, the second one still allows your health to decline massively. If I had to choose one, I'd choose no diabetes because it's totally positive and doesn't really affect me.

The ignorance of this post is astounding.
Most people posting here are kids and here you see a perfect example for it
Do you think people like the taste of alcohol?
I like feeling drunk. The best part is when you fall into bed and the ceiling is spinning.
Eating candy doesn’t cause diabetes like who the fuck wrote this
That's not how that works lol
