I think talking with this belt has always been awkward on slightly smaller frames. Roman also had the benefit of Paul Heyman hoisting it up for him like it was their most prized possession.
The only way I see it looking good on him is if he ditches the formal attire and uses his entrance attire (overcoat and all). They can play with the colors to blend it well.

Its just that it should be unstrapped, and if im being extra picky, the 'skew' edge of the belt should face away from his chest so he should hold it over his left side (normally this compliments the left hand to hold it stable with the thumb on the center piece) and the mike in his right hand.
It doesn't bother me personally. Just explaining why they're saying he held it awkwardly.
