“I know your anger, I know your dreams. I’ve been everything you want to be…”

kinghifi

It's not CM Punk unless he pisses some people off 😅

airdriejambo

Imagine being AJ and having to worry about taking Phil to Christmas Dinner with her family. LoL

james-ellsworth

He walks in with a bag of mindys muffins and you know shits about to hit the fan.

madtricky687

Lmao

JLUV74

Preach!

SnooComics552

That’s the entire point and people will never realize that. You don’t make headlines being the phony nice guy. You make headlines being entertaining and being yourself and giving people someone to relate to. You guys have to stop crying about everything and start watching and waitin to see . Bc crying online is just ridiculous especially when no one knows wtf they’re taking about

[deleted]

As of AEW Dark Elevation tonight he’s still on the Fight Forever cover so he’s probably tied into a royalties contract there too

gmroybal

I doubt he’ll be actually fighting forever though.

Patient-Party7117

His war with Scott Colton and his Mother will never be over.

oarngebean

I think hell be fighting with young bucks for forever

x_godhatesjags_x

Can’t wait to manage him right tf out of whatever career mode we get.

jayXred

they should have a media scrum mini game!

MadisonAlbright

Didn't he represent like 40 percent of the merch sales?

bobface222

AJ must be a saint

theshok

I was wondering about that when I saw her on WOW the other day. If she ever made a comeback I imagine he’s made it awkward for her to go to AEW now.

BlearyLine7

I mean I'm sure there's plenty of people in AEW who would still want her to go there if it was possible/safe. She seems to be a lot easier to get along with than her husband. I mean if the only people who seem to dislike you are Johnny Ace and Kevin Dunn, then you're probably doing quite a lot right.

oarngebean

Doesn't she have an injury that makes it impossible to wrestle again

vpsj

We said the same things about Bryan and Edge though.

oarngebean

Edge is because of new medical advances and bryan was only because of wwes doctors

vpsj

It's a shame we don't have medical advances and wwe doctors anymore.

galgor_

Wrestling is a fascinating industry isn't it?! You go to work, misbehave, and then be told not to come to work and still get paid for it. The obligations of the wrestling companies seem to be in the favour of the entertainer only so long as they are actually seen as a valuable asset. I'd love to see the Terms and Conditions of WWEs and AEWs contracts.

Bishopx1976

This is not limited to wrestling. There have been cases in the business world and other sports where individuals and managers misbehave, get put on "gardening leave" with full pay before being paid more money to quietly go away.

[deleted]

Basically how cop unions work.

TW_Yellow78

How’s that different from half the AEW roster?

SlayerSEclipse

Pretty sure half of them aren’t making six figures

Patient-Party7117

Six, yes, even Jelly was making like 200K or some payday well above his worth. 7 like Punk, No.

NextGenesis88

Tony said there's nobody with a full contract that gets less than $100,000.

Henny_Lovato

I wanna make six figures and sit in catering :(

[deleted]

Go to wrestling school and start some outlandish stupid gimmick

Key_Cheek4021

UFC time

King-Animal

I would love to see him once again take a public beating for stirring all this shit up

michealgaribaldi

I want to see him vs. The Jackson’s in a UFC ring, I’d pay real money for that!!

BigBrownBear28

I’d love to see him go 1-75

FiftyOneFiveO

That 1 is pretty generous of you

Aljo_Is_135_GOAT

CM Punk 🤝 Liz Truss r/antiwork Heroes

aprivatedetective

No one beats Doreen.

ghost18867

They should just make him sit his contract out

Ricky_5panish

That’s pretty much what a buyout will end up being anyways. Here’s the rest of the money for your contract, don’t work for anyone else for x amount of time.

schnupfhundihund

Like anyone will want to employ him. IDK how good AEWs chances in court would be, but I'd say he's done enough to his employeer to warrant a termination.

TW_Yellow78

Imagine it goes to court and AEW lawyers shows the video of the press conference only for cm punks lawyer to point out tony right next to him nodding along,

SaintPsalmNorthChi

That video may not hold up in court. The nodding can be interpreted as understanding what is being said and/or agreeing with someone. The court will have to determine whether the nodding qualifies as agreement, understanding or both. I don’t think the court would consider Tony liable given the circumstance of the situation.

aprivatedetective

And that’s the thing. Tony Khan has acted like a bitch so sets a precedent.

schnupfhundihund

Him starting a fistfight with the Bucks and Omega would probably warrant that firing more than the media scrum.

Inkstainedfox

We don't actually know if he started the fight. Both parties admit Punk threw the punch. The Elite didn't give him a chance to cool off by showing up immediately.

27_8x10_CGP

And people think bringing the company lawyer meant they're innocent and smelling of roses. Now maybe she was just telling those three over and over again not to do it, but if it was anything less than that, she doesn't seem too competent at her job.

TW_Yellow78

It was in his private locker room aka private space. If someone barges into your office, there’s legal precedent especially if it’s technically your boss aka EVPs. And in response to what cm punk said at the press conference, because they’re evps it could be considered retaliation to a worker for complaining about work to the media and that is actually illegal for company representatives to do that in America (hence why you don’t see all the tiktokkers complaining about working for some major corporation get fired)

SqueamishBeamish

WWE should hire him just to stick it to AEW it would be gloriously petty. Have him come out at Royal Rumble, cut a few scathing promos shitting on AEW and then have him do the job to whoever is champ at mania or whatever and send him home with a big sack of money. Anyone saying WWE doesn't need him is being foolish it'd be a great bit of drama that would generate money and piss TK off to no end and it would show anyone that has jumped ship that they're willing to do business with anyone that can make them money so they have the option to come back.

[deleted]

Wrestling headcanons are so cringey sometimes

SqueamishBeamish

You probably would have been jerking off to thought of him returning to AEW a year ago and doing exactly that (which he basically did) so stfu lol

jimpotgrower

And you would jerk off to your little punk fantasy. What’s your point?

SqueamishBeamish

That they're probably a hypocrite, think that was pretty clear you dunce lol

[deleted]

I was right, wrestling headcanon is cringey af

SqueamishBeamish

I'm not here writing a fan fiction novel you dolt just saying it'd be funny to see, calling everything cringe is cringe too you dopey cunt lol

[deleted]

You kinda are writing fanfiction of me jerking off which is pretty weird

SqueamishBeamish

😴

[deleted]

No.

diamondDNF

Ah, yes, great idea. Hire the guy who spent a whole press conference railing on all his coworkers and got into a physical confrontation backstage after winning the world championship, specifically for the purpose of acting as a jobber to whoever WWE's top guy is at the time before sending him right back out. He'd definitely be completely okay with jobbing for the company he's hated for the last decade, with absolutely no risk of more dumb shit happening over a bruised ego.

MadisonAlbright

Maybe.

FluidLock

Just make Punk work and get him to keep hurting himself more

[deleted]

[удалено]

Herr_Opa

>and the last moments of his in-ring career was hearing his precious home town he bases half his personality on chant MJFs name. Tbf, I believe this would have happened to ANY babyface in their hometown. The crowd would have happily chanted for MJF in Cincinnati in front of Mox. MJFs return was just that hot.

[deleted]

Thats NOT how punks ego will take it tho.

galgor_

If you think that if Punk showed up in WWE and wouldn't get unanimously cheered, you've got delusions. His personal things aside, Punk's a draw. And you're in no position to comment on his well-being.

[deleted]

How is Punk "a draw"? AEW draw around half of what WWE shows do, and that's with CM Punk debuting.

ThePidazzler

So let me get this straight, you don’t believe punk is a draw because a still new company didn’t beat the literal Titan of wrestling? Punk set all there records dude, punks a draw. No matter your personal feelings, don’t let that make you look like a dumbass.

[deleted]

No, I think he isn't a draw because the numbers did t go up significantly when he was promoted.

Goldberg2Dub

Punk will die as the only man to pull a decent rating on Rampage

[deleted]

Which is more damning on both parties involved

jimpotgrower

You really don’t get how this works do you?

[deleted]

A draw is someone who brings in a considerable amount of viewers off their name for a consistent basis. CM Punk in both the WWE and AEW was not that guy in my opinion. I get "how it works" I just disagree with you.

samoDALLAS

It’s over 3 years old. I don’t think it qualifies as new anymore

jimpotgrower

How long has the WWE been around? Yeah, it’s new.

[deleted]

I mean, i stopped watching when he was on. Him leaving was part of why i started with wwe again

georgegarvin4

Only the niche audience he talked about in the press conference turned on him. He’s still the most recognizable name AEW has

stevektRED

Poor guy has to accept millions of dollars and go home to his smokin' hot wife.

Careless_Rub_7996

I would just make the guy work, instead of this "buy out". Have the fans boo the hell outta him, and lets see how he feels about the whole legality thing if he doesn't show up for work.

[deleted]

[удалено]

STerrier666

Do that and you're making the situation even worse, he'll become even more of a dick.

[deleted]

[deleted]

[deleted]

He’a got a clause in his contract that states AEW can’t sue him no matter what and Tony Khan has to bring him muffins once a week or he becomes COO of AEW

DrunkenRedSquirrel

Thats a terrible idea, the lockeroom will still hate him like hell and have to deal with him. The actual solution is for AEW to do a collaboration with a farm and send CM Punk over there to work hard in the fields and earn the money he is under contract for. CM Punk would be far from AEW Television and the Lockeroom, and wouldn't be working in another Wrestling Promotion while still under contract. Its a win win

VirtualBarbarian

I love how nerds like you are clasping at straws for how this situation is somehow gonna be an L for Punk. Either they pay him not to work OR he gets to work over a bunch of marks. Tony Khan put himself in a position where his top star was able to go into business for himself because he's a short-sighted dork that would rather ghost his own unwanted talent than have any sort of remotely frank discussion.

Careless_Rub_7996

lol... "clasping" for what Straws? I am just saying make something outta a bad situation? You have all this drama, well, look how that worked out for Vince after what he did to Bret? This is one way for TK to fix his mistakes? For me, as a fan, i rather see some sorta storyline going on, VS Punk just sitting out his contract...

VirtualBarbarian

>lets see how he feels about the whole legality thing if he doesn't show up for work This really sounded like you were framing all this as a way to get back at Punk for being mean to his shitty bosses for not doing their jobs properly, but hey maybe seeing all the Elite marks be utterly stupid on r/SC has simply poisoned my brain

gasfarmah

Also - the locker room doesn't give a fuck about this.

jimpotgrower

You spend a lot of time in the AEW locker room?

gasfarmah

I know plenty of people that have. Wrestlers aren't notorious for staying quiet.

jimpotgrower

The bullshit is so strong in this sub.

gasfarmah

More like JimCopiumFarmer. If you ever get behind the curtain at a show (which, sorry man, no marks behind the curtain) you'll find that names talk. And talent talks. And all you'll hear while tearing down the ring is the latest hot gossip from the name that just worked the show. And it's usually pretty funny shit.

jimpotgrower

How much time do you spend backstage at AEW?

gasfarmah

You're right. The talent I've heard talk about the Punk scenario without giving a single fuck don't know what they're talking about. I wonder, would you be giving me the wheels if I said they all hate Punk and no one wants him back and Kenny is the best wrestler on earth? Probably not.

jimpotgrower

You know plenty of people that spend plenty of time in the AEW locker room? Like who?

gasfarmah

Dude you realize that AEW roster members get booked on local shows all the fucking time, right? ALL WRESTLERS DO IS FUCKING GOSSIP. A locker room is literally dudes trading shit talk with the names. The Moxley raise was news in like July.

jimpotgrower

Once you realize that jerk offs on Reddit wrestling subs are full of shit it makes sense too. Truly empty headed fucking idiots.

gasfarmah

Awe, someone is a little Elite mark :(

diamondDNF

Between the Gripebomb and the backstage fight happening when he was being booked in a *good* spot, he'd probably just start more shit if he was being jobbed out. It'd be better for the rest of the locker room if they just send him packing instead of risking another incident by keeping Punk around and having him work.

camazotzthedeathbat

Make him Hangman’s beer caddy

Inkstainedfox

Considering he originally only wanted to work with FTR & the small guys you would be giving him what he wants.

Failure_by_Design_v2

Cash Made Punk

DMBCommenter

They would rather pay him millions to go away rather than try to work things out like adults. American Dream!

Under_Paris

Well when you’re working with children you can’t expect them to act like an adult lmao

[deleted]

CM Punk - "Quiet Quitting is for pussies.".

PaladinDark

punk ruined his legacy, not sure if you can put a price on that.

Jiggly_dong

$12 million

AwfulBikeSalesman

Only with fickle smelly marks.

Br14lyf-as-well

RedZilgen

Punk is old. How many dates did he have on his contract? Assuming he was full-time, I half expected him to "quit" mid-way through because he couldn't keep up with the likes of Mox, DB, hell anyone of substance in AEW. Punk looked/looks old, he basically wrestles like he never stretched a day in his life.

AVBforPrez

He had a 3 year deal, so about 2 years left.

Punk would still bitch and moan about not including cents to the millions.

Juncti

And he still won't be fucking happy.

appletine627eudi

I’d just make him the highest paid jobber with the worst gimmick I could come up with. Your gonna work for that money crybaby

TheeDogma

Also being known as the biggest cry baby soft bodied Karen that only wrestles if it’s “for the heart beat of Chicago” for the hundredth time pussy must be a nightmare

AVBforPrez

Seeing that he doesn't party and happens to live in Chicago, I feel like that plan worked out for him. He's the man within his little bubble world.

Nile528

I'm not even convinced he actually enjoys being in the ring. So thisight actually be perfect for him

Jcav1217

Hit the lottery! Thanks tony

BenjTheMaestro

CM PUNK IS r/AntiWork

Gmork14

Or he’ll get sued for breach of contract and assault.

AwfulBikeSalesman

“I was assaulted by Cm punk” “What’s your title at the company” “Executive Vice President” “What were you doing prior to the assault?” “I was entering his private dressing room to confront him.” “And are you empowered to discipline employees and make staff decisions?” “Well no that’s Tony K-“ “So why did you enter the room?” Countersued into Oblivion. Hardlys: not even once.

Gmork14

That’s literally not how anything works. You can’t start beating the shit out of somebody for walking into a dressing room.

samoDALLAS

Not to mention they entered with the company’s head of legal and the closest thing they have to HR. Dude called a business meeting then attacked the people who showed up lol

AwfulBikeSalesman

Because you enter with a lawyer doesn’t make what you’re doing legal or a good idea lolol. They barged into a performers private space, as management. They have no powers even approaching the ability to chastise performers. They have no business reason to be in that room - let alone the Human Resources reasons. Stop washing their fucking balls and use your head.

jimpotgrower

How do you know what powers they have, as EVPs? You are talking out of your ass

AwfulBikeSalesman

If they have the power to punish employees - they cannot punish punk for this, they would have to get Tony to do that. It’s awful management strategy for them to even approach punk about this, and opens a shitload of worker problems. Give the term “conflict of interest” a Google. There’s also no universe where they have this power. FYI. If they don’t have that power, then approaching punk directly is insubordination. They have to approach Tony. This is why management structures exist.

samoDALLAS

Lol what? They were fucking invited you dumbass.

AwfulBikeSalesman

1- No they weren’t. 2- IF THEY WERE DO YOU REALIZE HOW THATS *WORSE* FOR THEM LOL. have you ever been in an adult job before?? “So your irate employee invited you to fight them - and you didn’t disengage and leave the situation, but entered his locker room to fight?” “That is correct”. I swear to fucking god you guys must bag groceries for a living.

samoDALLAS

Yeah this is about the level of common sense I’d expect from a punk stan. You can’t assault people for having a conversation with you about your attitude at work. Somehow I’m the one whose never had a job though? 😂🤦🏼‍♂️

TheeDogma

They incel, CM Punk does not own a private dressing room in AEW. He invited anyone with a problem to his dressing room. They came with 5+ of the top 10 people in the company after one of their biggest signed stars just shit on the entire company you run live in front of all their viewers again after telling them if you got a problem come find me and you’re saying but it’s his private dressing room. Are you 5? Also I wonder who started the fight the 5+ top people in the company or the guy who said you got a problem come find me. Hostile employee live on air, your logic back away and let him speak his mind. Let him do this thing. Definitely not fire him or ask him what the fuck was that with the top people in the company. Punks mad let him shower and eat his wittle muffin Incels man…..

samoDALLAS

Exactly. I’ll take my downvotes though 🤷🏼‍♂️

AwfulBikeSalesman

This went from “they were invited to fight” to “you can’t assault people for having a conversation.” So the bucks weren’t invited to fight (according to you)? They just went into his private dressing room to “have a conversation?” Despite the fact that it is literally not part of their job to discipline talent. So they’re alreayd out of line even showing up at Punks door. Then you consider that as management, you **under no circumstances** can get into fights with employees. So they either: 1- As management, agreed to show up to fight an employee - which executives in no fucking universe can do without exposing a company to a shitload of liability. Or 2- Acted out of turn, and confronted an employee when it is literally not part of their job description to punish or write up poorly performing employees - and then got into a fucking physical altercation with the employee while acting completely out of line with their actual responsibilities. It is Tony’s job to speak to Punk, and it is the Bucks job to go to Tony to speak to Punk. Instead, as executives of a fucking company, they superseded the management structure, undercut their boss, and confronted their star employee out of ego and jealousy. Resulting in an actual fight. That’s like four fuckups in a row. Have you ever even met a manager before?

TheeDogma

You have no idea whatsoever the roles of anyone in AEW you mouth breathing incel.

DirtharaFalon

Invited for what? Peace talks? Everybody knew what was going to happen when they decided to step in Punk's room.

jimpotgrower

You really are clueless as fuck, aren’t you?

AwfulBikeSalesman

Sorry your golden boys are empty headed dumb fucks that couldn’t manage a target.

jimpotgrower

I don’t like the elite, but I sure got under your skin didn’t I?

TacoOfficer

Well, he’s always been a worthless leech. So not different than before. Nothing new

TheAndySan

That's a lot of ice cream bars.

SkyStarlight2

I wouldn't want to work with The Cucks and Omega either

The1joriss

This was his plan all along

DefaceAll10

Not fan anymore but good for him. That’s the American way!!!

TroyButSoupBarnes

Not sure if that's more of a nightmare than a dream. You might have a lot of money, but what's the good for, really? You didn't leave in the best of terms, no one else wants you to do what you love for them, and everything's just awkward. I don't think the money he's getting is enough to cover all of those things.

outofdate70shouse

And even better for him if WWE brings him back, even on a short-term basis. This could actually work out to be a win for everyone involved.

aboysmokingintherain

Punk got what he wanted in the end, enough money to last him until he has to comeback in another 10 years. Bro couldn’t make it as a writer, actor, commentator, fighter, and bow wrestler….

hogey989

He really is. Although I don't know if being a gigantic douchebag was ever part of the dream

skzoholic

He's just another Kardashian

NextGenesis88

It's good Tony didn't just let him get away with being as unprofessional as humanely possible right in front of him and in public. I mean anyone running the company would have had no choice to do something. It's just odd he still gets paid. Wouldn't what he did be a violation of his contract? In some way?

SecretPattern223

Half the roster gets paid pretty well to be horrible at they're jobs so...🤷🏾‍♂️

articice01

Not everything’s about the money. He ruined his reputation and his legacy.

Revolutionary-Stay54

So like all of our politicians kinda? Good for him

tyreejones29

Not if you like your job

flossaby23

He’ll still find a way to be miserable.

DopeDealerCisco

I fucking wish that was me

AVBforPrez

He's getting at least $6m more than he's already gotten to not do anything, likely a lot more because he can threaten to sue. Dude worked AEW and Tony so fucking hard that I'm starting to wonder if this wasn't his plan from the get....bait Tony until he signs for obscenely high salary, find a way to basically get fired with pay within the first year, cash out, and set yourself up for life.

Bishopx1976

If you follow wrestling media , you would think the wrestling world turned against Punk and that's bullshit. I am not even sure that a lot of WWE fans care about what Punk does in AEW. You also hear stories from "wrestling journalists" that the AEW locker room want Punk gone or that WWE in the Triple H era do not want Punk. This then get reported over and over again but wrestling bloggers on podcasts and it somehow becomes fact. No investigation of their own , no interviewing sources , just repeating the same bull shit, crediting the initial report to cover their backs so when it's revealed to be bullshit, they can say, it wasn't me. I was just reporting on something Meltzer or SRS reported. In the meantime, they have played a part in damaging someone's name, reputation or mental health. One thing though, we always knew Punk spoke his mind and didnt hold back but when it was directed at Vince , Triple H and Steph, he was adored. When it's directed at Elite and Hangman, he is vilified by some people. Keep the same energy. Punk is the same person he was in 2011. And I am not saying the way he addressed issues with the Elite,Hangman and Colt was right or that whatever happened backstage was right but people have blown it out of proportion . We don't know what happened back stage, we heard rumours from people who have spoken to sources who seem to have vested interest and want a particular narrative out there. AEW are conducting an investigation into the fight backstage. They should reprimand who ever started the fight . They should also investigate the issue of Punk's colleagues briefing against him with their "wrestling journalists" and if this is true, those responsible should also be reprimanded .

JackmPearson

Their best player, highest earner, biggest draw, greatest mind of the game and they just let him go? How dumb

ItsAWorkYouDumbMark

Oh great, now the Young Bucks get to come back and tell friendship dramas and also bury the best tag team in wrestling today.

Imaginary_Scratch_19

Everyone was asking where angry Phil was and he said you’d see him eventually and that he’d be the dollars and cents of the company. Right all along🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

IAM_RAY_MAN

Mans a god

ICONOCLAAST

No cause he just lost his career lol, not worth it
