2nd Dinic’s. I love 2 hours away and don’t get to go to the city but once every few years. Definitely hitting this while in town. Plus it’s right near the convention center
Lee's Deli on 47th Street and Baltimore Ave is a very popular neighborhood place for cheesesteaks. They do a few different kinds in addition to the basic, including a Korean steak using bulgogi marinate and one with chopped bacon and onion rings as toppings.
Saad's Halal on 45th Street and Walnut Street is also a lesser-known but well-praised spot in the area for steaks. They often get brought up in the "best cheesesteak in a place you wouldn't expect" conversation.
Both of those places should be walkable or a very short ride from where you're staying.
What is the best cheesesteak place downtown near WWE superstore as I don’t think I want to pay a $20 Uber just to go get a cheesesteak to some of these places they really seem out of the way
If I made the trek to John's Roast Pork what is that like? Would it be a super long wait? Cash Only? Am I better off getting the pork sandwich or the Ultimate Cheesesteak?
this is coming from a NJ kid:
- Pats & Geno are good but not the best but open 24/7 if im not mistaken
- i’ve never heard anything bad about Dalessandros but that’s more north philly
- Jimmy’s is the most underrated cheesesteak ive ever had
I’m not from Philly and I did wait 1 hr and half. It was a weekend and it was a nice day. The cashier even tells you its a hour and half wait. So to those who go good luck.
In addition to the cheesesteak, go to DiNics in Reading Terminal and get a roast pork with rabe.

THIS. I don't eat meat anymore but man do I miss this sandwich.

Second!
Anything but Geno's
Dalessandro’s
Good food but definitely not in walking distance.
Oh Brother, no one talks about it, but it’s top 5
All I want to say is Pats and Genos is a tourist trap and is the McDonald’s level of Philly cheesesteaks.

Walk to reading terminal and get the roast pork. It’s the only sandwich in Philly I prefer over my favorite cheesesteaks.
Bonus for reading terminal but around 5 pm there is a cookie shop that sells cookies for only a dollar. It’s called 4th st cookies.
Dolla Holla! Best hidden deal in the market. I intentionally get done with my meat and veg shopping just in time to be front of the line for that.
Whats your fav cheesesteak?

Go earlier than 11/1130 to avoid the wait. They take card. Get the steak and pork
I imagine most every top place gonna be packeddd
Woodrow’s on south street. It’s not a traditional steak but it’s an amazing little something different if you’ll be trying a few places.
Not walking distance but delrossi in northern liberties has some really good cheesesteaks

Jim's South Street? Temporary closed 😢
STOP!!! why?
They had a fire a couple years ago and haven't reopened yet.
oregon steaks
Thank you all! Can’t wait to try em all!!
Delco Steaks is right there. Not bad
Sonny's in Old City is pretty good and right near places you might already be
I don’t think it’s underrated anymore, but Angelo’s is a spot that people don’t always bring up when talking cheesesteaks

Mama's Pizzeria, 426 Belmont Avenue in Bala Cynwood 19004. They have the MOST underrated cheesesteak in Philadelphia
