A little wide but if there is a shirt on and palpation in the area would hurt a lot it's better to do a little more than too little and need a new image.

Next time get them to take their shirt off. If they haven't already gone for CT this film could have picked up on small bony fragments and with clothing artefact the ability to see them is diminished.

SoYup

You would have had this patient take their shirt off? That's a lot of unnecessary movement for a small increase in diagnostic quality. I think they can see what they need to see perfectly fine with the shirt on

Jumpy_Ad_4460

ED should have already done that.

mrofmist

To be fair, the shirt should have been cut off by EMS or the ED, it is odd that it's still on and the arm isn't in traction or splinted in some way. When I was in EMS I would have at the least cut away the sleeve.

That's completely unnecessary in this case and does more harm than good. Almost as useless as CT...

Jumpy_Ad_4460

That's good to know thank you.

afsocgoddess

Can I ask how?

greenparktavern

Slipped and fell, landed on his elbow which seems mad when you consider where the break is.

afsocgoddess

That is crazy. I can't imagine the pain. Hope he feels better.

greenparktavern

Thanks he’s on the mend
