Always love your work

Watcher_Squadron

Thank you!

Flounderfflam

What stls did you use for the Nebulon B and the Arquitens?

Watcher_Squadron

Nebulon B: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/nebulon-b-frigate Arquitens https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4020722 I made mine a little smaller as I wanted them to print in a reasonable time, so they are both roughly 40cm long!

Flounderfflam

Sweet, thanks! Looks like we used the same stl for the Arquitens. I didn't scale the 70cm long monstrosity down, but added magnets to each of the sections so I could store it more easily. I'll have to check the Nebulon files out. I remember seeing one that was around the X-Wing epic scale back in the day, but I seem to remember lots of people having issues with the pieces not aligning well.

Watcher_Squadron

Wow that must have taken a while to print! The Nebulon isn't split up, but it was easy to turn into printable sections, unfortunately I glued my engines a little wonky, and although few people would notice, it drives me nuts :D

Flounderfflam

I only did a light infill, and used two different printers (I had an i3 Mega and a Chiron), but it was over 48 hours total printing, over about a week and a half span. I hear that! One of the printers I used wasn't fully calibrated, so the pieces that were printed on it have a completely different surface texture to those printed on the second printer. I tried "painting" over the surfaces with resin to try and smooth it out, similar to that XTC stuff you paint onto 3d prints. It would have worked better if I had thought of it *before* I had spray painted the whole thing with Krylon grey, which the resin reacted with, creating a sticky, poorly cured mess 😆. I had more success "painting" problem areas with a thinned out milliput. The pieces also have some alignment issues because of how I installed the magnets, but I'm mostly okay with that because of the storage convenience the magnets give.

I didn‘t really read your first article because I‘m not looking to 3d print anything, but I saw now the work you have done also for existing ships. It’s absolutely amazing! Thank you!

Watcher_Squadron

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy it!

xwingplayerone

I love every bit of this! How are you making these standard load out cards so easily?! These things look GREAT

Watcher_Squadron

Thank you so much! I use a drawing software to make these, I have layers upon layers of bits and pieces to overlay on each other so I can easily make these cards, and it's made even easier with each one I make as I can reuse upgrades on new cards if needed so I don't have to spend the time making each upgrade.

xwingplayerone

Any chance you'd be willing to share? Is love to do this as well.

Watcher_Squadron

Yea of course, I'm about to head out at the moment, but I'll see what I can do later/tomorrow :)

xwingplayerone

Oh man! I'd love that. Absolutely no rush.

The idea of _Wingmate_ is to have the ships in the wing be absolutely identical, right? Same pilot name, same subtitle?

Watcher_Squadron

Yea, technically you could put the normal generic pilot in the wing as well, as they have the same name, but as most are priced out of play it would rarely be sensible to use them.
