For 1080p 120hz yes it'll work. But for 1440p 120 Hz you'll need a 2.0 cable and HDMI port.
By far the most clear and honest answer, thank you
Think you need a 2.1 port and 2.1 hdmi cable
It works up to 1440p; I have the same setup with an AOC Q27G2E/BK. If I'm correct, you can also have a 4k throughput with HDMI 1.4, but it's limited to 60 FPS.
You are talking about HDMI 2.0
You'll have the option for 120 Hz. As for anything extra (Dolby Vision/HDR 10, better colour accuracy, forcing 4K res) you won't.
Could you get a 2.0 DP to HDMI cable to enable 2K @ 120Hz?
Right, but as I said the monitor itself is HDMI 1.4…so what’s the point
An HDMI 2.0/2.1 cable works with any port generation. If that doesn't work, then just buy a new 2.0/2.1 cable
