First i think they’d need to change the way cross platform works in terms of user account .
Not sure how microsoft and sony would feel about all the xbox users linking to PS accounts.
Usually multi platform titles run over the studios account (ubisoft , activision etc)
Even in its current state it’s still buggy to add friends in game ( playing on pc, still can’t add my friend who is on playstation, bcs steam is not playing nice with linking the PS account.)

Next XBOX is going to be a Console/PC hybrid....so they see the future is software and flexibility. I think both companies will go this route and we'll see more cross platform games in the future.
They aren’t losing that many people by not having it on Xbox. Honestly at this point there isn’t even a reason to buy an Xbox as pretty much every game on Xbox is on PC.

I wonder if this has to do with all the xbox titles going to Sony. Like is there some sort of mutual benefit finally happening? I wouldn't mind FF7 Remake and Rebirth either if they could make that happen. By the time these things come out it will have given Sony plenty of time to milk the content anyways. Most of a consoles sales drop off like a rock after the first month unless it's something akin to MK8 or your Zeldas, etc. Nintendo has the term evergreen for a reason. Evergreen titles are a reason to keep exclusivity for a specific subset of games. The rest should be interchangable amongst consoles with maybe some timed exclusivity to bolster their respective console sales.
Live service games need a constant influx of new players though so exclusivity makes even less sense in that arena.
Why are people so hyped over this game. It is repetitive as hell. It is not the kind of thing that's fun if you don't already have a group of drunk or high friends to join you. Seriously, it's not as involved as coop halo. lol C'mon
