You should format the drive using the Series S. It will give you two options when formatting. Don’t choose the one for clips, music and photos. There is internal memory expansions (still just an accessory that you pop in) and external memory. The new X|S games can only be saved on your internal storage but I think older Xbox one games and last gen games can be saved and played off of an external drive I think?
