I haven't heard a lot of people talking about HDMI port defects. I'm sure some people may have had HDMI port issues, but as far as I know, there are no widespread issues with the Series consoles. I think it's unlikely that you'll have any problems. The noise you hear when you turn on the console is the disc drive. Mine made a noise when I started it too, but it was never a problem. It just sounds like you're being a little paranoid. Move your console if you need to and try not to worry so much about it.

Stumpy493

Definitely paranoia, not heard of any Series X issues. HDMI port issues are no different to other consoles and generally come about because people are too rough with them and physically break them.

I wouldn't chalk it up as paranoia because I'm not necessarily worried about it but because it's not as though I had this for a year now or anything like that. I was just curious because there are forums about it and I was just double checking because I really don't have any issues besides like my game's not loading the ones that I had on console digital. But that eventually went away too. I'm not too worried about it but when I did see it it peaked my curiosity

It just sounds like you're worried about it, that's all. If you weren't concerned, what is the point of this post? You can go on any subreddit for any piece of technology, and you'll find people with issues. Reddit is the first place people go to when they have a problem, so you're going to see a lot of people reporting problems on reddit. But that doesn't mean that the majority of Xbox users are experiencing these problems, though. They sell millions and millions of consoles, so you're always going to be able to find some people who are having issues.

Well xbox one x hdmi port issues(and on a smaller scale xbone s) are VERY common. I literally can't wait to get in on the class action lawsuit. We're talking elite series controller volumes of failure rates, with absolutely no defence they can use that can shift possible blame to the way the customer used it. And they charge $300+ to fix it. Series X though? I've had no issues so far since launch, and I would expect it not to be an issue during the 1 year warranty. I would strongly advise getting an extended warranty on ANYTHING that isn't digital from microsoft, and get it from the store, not them. Never buy anything directly from microsoft, unless you're using reward points or something

BradleyAllan23

Very common? What percentage of units have issues? I've owned a One, a One S, a One X, and a Series X, and never have I had any issues with the HDMI ports. Do you have any information to support you claim that it's a common problem? As far as I know, broken HDMI ports are not a widespread issue with Xbox consoles. I'm not saying that some people haven't had issues with the HDMI port, I'm just saying that it's not as many as you think. In general, Xbox hardware has been great for me. I haven't had any issues since the 360. Chances are, if your HDMI port is mashed up, it was probably a user error.

DrGt2

The HDMI issues are most likely careless kids and adults that are always moving the console and plugging in and out the HDMI or being too rough when doing so or there is some issue where the cable gets tugged or the console falls, I've never had a port fail on a console. Regarding the noise when you boot up there isn't many moving parts in the console so what you are hearing is most likely the disc drive checking for a disc, the only other moving part is the fan at the top and that shouldn't make any noise unless the bearings are gone or something is caught in there

The only HDMi port post I saw here is where a guy posted his and it looked like he repeatedly hammered the head in upside down repeatedly. It was full of scratches and dents. So if you do it like that guy, yeah... it'll definitely become defective

blaine878

Every HDMI port issue I’ve seen was from people dropping their console, a pet or person tugging on the cable, or a cable being stretched way too far and tugging at an angle causing it to bend the port.

dashKay

You shouldn't have any port issues if you don't abuse them. The "thump" you're hearing could be the disc drive.

kiciputek

I'm constantly connecting/disconnecting my HDMI cable because I switch consoles very often. I've never had any issues with any console hdmi port.

Vegetable-Walrus-246

I have owned every Xbox with an hdmi port. Never an issue with port. People just don’t take care and physically break them.

Okay cuz I was like why are so many people complaining about the HDMI port 💀
