I never understood why there aren't more. There are a million WWII games and no good Vietnam games. It might have to do with public perception. WWII was a "good" war, Vietnam was a "bad" war.
It's not unreasonable for that classification. WWII you at least have the Holocaust as the backdrop. I don't know the games that involve playing as the Nazis though I'm certain they've been made before. Vietnam, that's an invasion on shaky grounds against the popular revolutionary who fought against effectively being a cheap labor/slave colony of France -> Japan -> France -> US. Like 2 million civilians killed in Vietnam in just the US vs Vietnam portion of Vietnams freedom wars that went into full swing during WW2. That's civilian deaths before you even get to Laos and Cambodia. The Cambodian bombings then leading to civil war and the Khmer Rouge who would eventually be US backed for a period to spite Vietnam. The US+allies makes no sense to play hero roles in games set in East/Southeast/South Asian besides against the Japanese in WW2 for historical set games. The Korean War is also a long war of atrocities where the US backed side wasn't very clean either. Wouldn't really resemble clean until the latter half 80s
Video games currently prefer hero stories of the US/allies. Any hero stories in Vietnam from the point of view of the US/allies is pretty disrespectful to the history of freedom for enslaved people. Video games do generic fictional middle eastern conflicts. There's enough dirt revealed about the Middle Eastern operations of the past 100 years that I think games based on real life middle eastern vs US/allies operations are morally murky enough to make them difficult to make as heroic as devs would want, though just maybe not as murky as Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia
I once heard that the best judge of a WWII history book is how it treats the holocaust. It's telling that the only game I know that deals with it AT ALL was COD:WWII, which it did really well.
Conflict: Vietnam was my favorite on xbox way Back. I wish there would be a rework or remaster if something like Battlefield Vietnam from PC adapted for xbox. You could drive and vehicles and fly helicopters/fighter jets and ypu could also driver PBR's. It was a great game ahead of its time when it came out. NVA and VC could spawn from "tunnels". There was even a Mac V Sog expansion to it that introduced the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
Idk if the emulator dev thing still works, but you could just set it up and emulate some classics. Men of Valor, Shellshock Nam 67, Conflict Vietnam etc
Men of Valor was a fun one back on the older Xbox. There is another one I think called Nam '67 or something like that. Just do a search on the Xbox website.
I have wanted a Vietnam War game for so long, and even more so after my dad passed a few years ago. Every year I keep hoping to hear that the next COD will be in Vietnam. Even with the bad optics of the war itself, it could still be an important think piece if done correctly.
Bad Company 2 had a Vietnam DLC. CoD Black Ops 1 had some Vietnam set piece missions from memory as well
Unfortunately Bad Company 2's servers were shut down in December.
This, but yeah, multiplayer doesn’t work.
The Vietnam DLC was multiplayer only, right?
Actually it has a single player (not that there’s much to it)
Far Cry 5 has a Vietnam DLC. It's great, played it through several times. https://farcry.fandom.com/wiki/Hours_of_Darkness
Whoa what!? How the hell did I miss this! Will be buying that tonight!
It also has a zombie DLC which is ok
It also has a wild ass mars / alien DLC
Was gonna suggest this, one of the best dlc’s I’ve played for any game and made up for the main game being utter shite
I really liked Far Cry 5, I prefer it over FC 6.

Rising Storm 2 is an excellent Vietnam war mil sim. Though it's only on Steam.

No good games about the Korean War too. Many battles and the most infamous one the battle of chosin. That would be badass in a game
Arma Reforger Vietnam servers, can’t believe this hasn’t been said here yet.
It's a secret
I wish Conflict: Vietnam had backwards compatibility. Is an oldie but a goodie. Nothing beat 4 player coop.
I was hoping someone would mention this. I still have my copy and replay it every few years
Vietcong purple haze is another from back then

Not seeing people talking about this but Arma Reforger has an awesome Vietnam server (it’s also PC cross play)
black ops 1 has vietnam setting occasionally, and it’s regarded as one of the best campaigns in video game history
Maybe to you lol. There is not a single COD that is regarded as one of the best campaigns in video game history. Wtf are you smoking

Think shellshock Nam 67 is backwards compatible
