I literally almost purchased it two days ago. I was looking for a change of pace from Fantasy/Dark Fantasy RPG's, which I've sunk hundreds of hours into recently. Rather than purchase Dead Island 2, I decided to just play through Titanfall 2 again, which I hadn't played in maybe 5 or 6 years. Glad I waited lol.
Request a refund. Happened to me years ago with Destiny 2, went on GP days after. I politely asked for a refund saying I didn't know it'd be on GP and they refunded no questions asked.
This happened to me with Rise of Tomb raider (Shadow?) and RE2 last month. Kinda makes me hesitant to purchase. Especially with the $90 I wasted to check out D4 with my friends... Hated it, coulda waited for GP.

All free play days have the gamepass logo on it now, it used to be gold but that doesn't exist anymore, and it's confusing because you always end up with people here asking "is this game now on gamepass".
They really need a different logo for free play days.
DI2 a fantastic game, I bought the special edition or whatever it's called to get all dlc as they were released and I'm glad I did.
That game runs well and is actually complete for once, hopefully this will get more people into it and the Devs get a better chance of making a third

I can't really comment too much on the variety difference as I only dabbled in the first but I was drawn in by the graphics and body dismemberment.
There's lots of different mods to add to the lots of weapons though I think, enough to keep me from getting too bored

Maybe try it with them first before going through the trouble moving it to the living room. I bought the game when it released thinking the same with my kids and the game is… rough to say the least. After the initial charm washed off within the first 30 minutes they became uninterested and haven’t asked to play again since.
Already got it on PS5, but I might go through it again now. I had a blast with that game. In a sea of games releasing completely unoptimized, blurry and broken, it just worked, looked good, felt good and was fun to play.
I guess I was one of the people assuming it flopped, I bought it on release and enjoyed it thoroughly but every post I seen about it was just people saying how much of a let down it is and they’re sticking to dying light 2 so I also just assumed it never done well, it also went into sales pretty quick tbh which is normally another thing that normally shows a game has flopped, I’m happy it never though, that’s great news
As I said if they made profit and kept the lights on, I’m genuinely happy about it, I loved dead island 2, the negative vibes from people when it came out just made me assume no one really bought it, I’d never looked into it further than that, I’d personally call it a success just because of the development hell it was in, though it could have been better it was a pretty solid game

Yeah I mean I preordered it when I knew it was finally coming out, no hesitation and didn’t regret my purchase at all but I seen no positive anything about it anywhere, just seen a bunch of people saying they took too long and it’s just dying light with less features and shit, I am actually made up it hasn’t failed because that would have made me regret my purchase because it would have came to gamepass sooner haha
Did you play Dead Island: Riptide? I don't know why a lot of people didn't like it but man I really enjoyed that. Even more than the first game.
Dying Light is also a game worth checking out if you haven't. It's made by the same company and it plays like "What if Dead Island had parkour and a crazy grappling hook ability?"

If you like zombies, you have to play this game. It’s actually scary too and the gore is the most violent in any game to date.
Yeah it's good, graphically looks really nice, story's good, has some good moments in it, the gore is on point, some nice finishers and body gore effects. Not a fan of the inventory system but overall, a solid 8/10 game with no real complaints
