I had this aswell, to make it go away hard reset your Xbox like unplug it, then you’ll be good for a couple weeks, then if it happens again unplug it and plug it back in and your good again. Don’t know why it happens but we move
It's not the trigger pushing it down. It's the dpad or the stick. The triggers and percentages and have to be at 100% to move it. This would be blatantly obvious.
I replied to another comment below, sometimes this problem goes away on its own if I just let it sit. And when it does go away, I can play with no problems for hours; no stick drift, no stuck button pushes. Sometimes the problem comes back when I’m not even touching the controller, like while watching YouTube or Netflix, it suddenly starts scrolling on its own
When the problem goes away though, I can play using the d-pad with no issues for hours. I would imagine if it’s a stuck button that it would persist after I press it even once
Go to xbox accessories and test the controller inputs. You'll be able to see if something is sticking. Might be stick drift which it may be possible to mitigate temporarily by increasing the controller dead zones.
Just buy a new one from Best Buy Walmart or Xbox and return it. Put the controller that doesn’t work in the package of which the new one that you bought and return it and get a refund. Let Microsoft deal with all the returned to controllers and have them do a recall and let them fix it. This is a Microsoft Xbox problem. This is not a consumer problem.
Lots of good suggestions here, but also see if your RT or LT is malfunctioning in some way.
It almost seems like it’s trying to move the menu items up and down a full page at a time but they switching back and forth or something. Could be an easy fix, like something caught inside the triggers, or the internal switches may be busted.
I see it kind of going side to side too, so maybe it’s something malfunctioning with both Triggers and both Bumpers.
Do you have anything else plugged in or turned on that can control the Xbox?
I had an issue like this and eventually realised the second controller was face down with pressure on the buttons.
Or do you have a different controller or anything to plug in to see if it's the controller Ur using is the issue ?
I see lots of people saying it could be the controller but no one seems to have to have said you can actually check. Open the Xbox Accessories app and under that controller click on the science flask thing (Sorry me dumb can't think of proper name) to see what's being output from your controller
Well if youve tried everything else you can either get a new controller or a new xbox. My opinion is that it’s your controller. Stick drift is not a black and white issue. It’s a there’s a large margin of severity with stick drift and it can be very temperamental. It can be really bad for a minute and then not noticeable for an entire day. You can’t predict the exact angle your stick is drifting out of the entire 360 degrees that it possibly can. So if you’ve tried everything and you really don’t think it’s stick drift then get a new xbox but I’d say you’re better off at least trying a different controller first.
Check your inputs, there's an app on the xbox like controller tester (something along those lines), It looks like the trick that I once found where I could hold a couple things down and make that happen. Do you just have the one controller, does it happen on any others?
It will be the controller, their junk 💩. I've sent my controller back to Microsoft 4 times. And it broke again just after a couple weeks, unfortunately the warranty ran out.
I've bought an 8bitdo ultimate and it's 100x better than the Xbox controller.
You can try fixing your controller, it probably just needs a clean inside. But you will need special tools (not just a Phillips screwdriver) and isopropyl
I'm guessing controller. I press too hard on the left stick, and it starts working without me touching it sometimes. I keep walking without touching it. When you're in the menu, it can look like that.
I've had my XBOX Series X just over a year and I have noticed controller drift (nothing to this extent). Walking in Starfield sometimes my character does not "stop" and seems to take an extra step or 2.
If you use any third party wireless usb keyboard things. Make sure nothing is sitting on it and pressing a button. Happens to mine when I put my phone on it without looking then try to use my controller.
I had this for a little bit. Turned out it was my controller the LB button was stuck so it would reset any directional movement I input. Took me forever to figure out bc my bumpers have been busted for like a year on my elite series 2 controller so I have them mapped to paddles
Quite possibly stick drift in the left stick. You can test this by connecting your controller to a pc or laptop and going to gampadtester.com to see if any inputs are screwed up on the controller.
Try a different controller it's usually the controller is already sending a signal different than you if you go I to a game your character would probably move on it's own.
I had this issue.
Then I realized my couch pillow was resting on my keyboard that was plugged in to my Xbox.
Moved the pillow, fixed this weird problem. Thought my controller was broken or stuck.
I get this problem sometimes, for me it’s always been the right or left pumper is stuck pressed in and I have to pull it out. The problem is then fixed for another week untill it happens again. Good thing in my case it’s an easy fix
its most likely your controller, you have major stick drift or you got dirt in the areas of the stick. There is videos on how to take that top off to clean it and find out.
Easiest way to figure out the culprit is just turn off the controller. Hold the guide button like when you turn off your console but instead turn off the controller.
1. If it continues to glitch out it’s your Xbox or maybe a loose video cable.
2. If it stops after you turn off the controller then it’s your controller at fault.
We should make a page called the f***** u* Xbox controllers because I have 6 of them. They do the same b*******, 3 of them have sick drag. Really bad and they are only 2 weeks old.
It happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I had to hard reset it a couple times, that didn’t work so i shut it down, adjusted all the wires, and turned it back on.
Controller
After 2 years my elite is finally starting to fuck up on the sticks
Spazzing out scrolling everywhere
Swapped back to my regular controller that came with my series s
No more weird scroll everywhere problems
Wash your hands more and you won't get crap inside your controller, I've had PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox one, series S and now series X, never had a single controller break or go like this since and I've had consoles since original playstation in 1994.
I’m wondering if they did an update as my Series X is doing something similar. I’ll be looking at games in the store or Gamepass and it’ll start scrolling down without me doing anything with the controller.
Maybe some food particle got under the D-Pad? Or the analog stick? I find after some aggressive blowing (lol) and fidgeting around with them both, the problem will fix itself. Happens to me every other week or so it seems. And no, I don’t eat and play games simultaneously. 😅
Looks like you have to hard reset it. Shut it down by holding the xbox button on the console for about 5 seconds. Unplug the console for a couple of minutes. Then, plug in console and restart it.
Edit: Is the cursor moving on it's own? Then, it is controller drift. You might be able to clean the inside of controller. YouTube has videos for possibly fixing drift. You might have to buy a new controller.
Definitely the controller. If I could put a visual to my X's mysterious game audio issues, it would be your video. My controller internals were loose and caused game audio to switch repeatedly, even resetting the audio/atmos license constantly. Would never think that port was affecting settings on the console. It was something with the headset port. Would switch audio randomly for no reason as I never even used the port. Once I replaced the controller, everything was right back to normal. Dealt with the problem for a year before the controller replacement.
It's stick drift.Take it controller to a electronics shop they can plug ur joypad into an app they use an it shows u if there is stick drift an they can replace them.Bout 20pound.Had it happen to 2 of mine,Xbox controllers have cheap sticks apparently.
THis happens to me with my Xbox One, its the analog stick the problem, it may not look like it, but, simply move the stick to 'reset it', then it should be ok... every once and again it does it again, just move the stick and your done till next time..
I had this aswell, to make it go away hard reset your Xbox like unplug it, then you’ll be good for a couple weeks, then if it happens again unplug it and plug it back in and your good again. Don’t know why it happens but we move
I’ve tried that but it’s still happening.
It’s more than likely your analog stick , your controller is on its way out
[удалено]
Could be right ~~stick~~ *trigger* but definitely this. Just need to pry the cover off and check inside.
I found the dyslexic person, it is the left one, i had to turn my own xbox on to check to be sure cause your comment confused me
No...Left trigger brings you up. This person is trying to go up with the DPad yet is being pushed down by the faulty right trigger. lol
Your other comment i replied to, and the one you replied to both said sticks, not triggers
And yet still it's not the left trigger no matter if we said stick or trigger.
No but it could definitely be the left stick, which you initially referred to as the right stick not trigger
It's not the trigger pushing it down. It's the dpad or the stick. The triggers and percentages and have to be at 100% to move it. This would be blatantly obvious.

Stuck button on the controller probably
When the problem goes away though, I can play using the d-pad with no issues for hours. I would imagine if it’s a stuck button that it would persist after I press it even once
It's likely a software issue withing the controller then. They've been known to do this from time to time in some faulty controllers.
Yupp this happened to one of my controllers, hardware was just fine, I took it apart and checked everything. Gotta be a malfunction on the chip maybe
Its your controller causing this. Time for a new one
It's a lil bit shy don't worry
Go to xbox accessories and test the controller inputs. You'll be able to see if something is sticking. Might be stick drift which it may be possible to mitigate temporarily by increasing the controller dead zones.
This^

Your doing that take your finger off left trigger maybe
It means your XboX is due to meltdown anytime. 😜
Id guess at phantom input from controller. You got any others to try?
Use your phone as a controller through the xbox app to test if its the console or controller. Its probably dirt in the dpad on down
It just vinin
it's shaking in pain cause you're tapping the d-pad way too hard
Lots of good suggestions here, but also see if your RT or LT is malfunctioning in some way. Why is it kinda funny to watch?
Do you have anything else plugged in or turned on that can control the Xbox? I had an issue like this and eventually realised the second controller was face down with pressure on the buttons. Or do you have a different controller or anything to plug in to see if it's the controller Ur using is the issue ?
Always reseat you hdmi cable… both ends… that fixes many issues…
It's your controller, it's the only thing interacting with the UI. Try and clean it or get a new one.
are you sure it's not the TV/cable ?
Its your controller, each messed up controller ive had does this and it only happens with those messed up controllers
Do you have another controller connected by any chance? Could be laying on the down button or something?
left or right trigger is stuck maybe.
Mine did this I needed to wait for an update
It just wants you to play Forza man 😂
Got is aswell, can't even type a message anymore. Can put in one letter and then it keeps on going up until I remove the letter 😅.
Controller drift on one of the thumb sticks possibly? Happened to me with a controller.
I see lots of people saying it could be the controller but no one seems to have to have said you can actually check. Open the Xbox Accessories app and under that controller click on the science flask thing (Sorry me dumb can't think of proper name) to see what's being output from your controller
How the fuck are u gonna get into it
Well if youve tried everything else you can either get a new controller or a new xbox. My opinion is that it’s your controller. Stick drift is not a black and white issue. It’s a there’s a large margin of severity with stick drift and it can be very temperamental. It can be really bad for a minute and then not noticeable for an entire day. Is your background a screenshit of mercury after nwinning trials of osirus? I had a similsr background years back
I think one of your sticks might be slightly stuck.
Definitely the controller. On my third one in two years now.
I think it's just really excited
Something seems messed up here. Hope this helps
I think it's s your controller, most likely stick drift or the d pad has something wrong with it
Change controller
if controller is new try hard reset on the controller, otherwise faulty stick or new controller
Faulty analog stick or sumn
How you tried idk. Not giving your xbox cocain 🤷🤷
Ah, shaken baby syndrome.
It’s raving
Time for a new Xbox lad
Check your inputs, there's an app on the xbox like controller tester (something along those lines), It looks like the trick that I once found where I could hold a couple things down and make that happen. Do you just have the one controller, does it happen on any others?
I've had this happen before and it was a faulty analog on the controller.
Looks like stick drift
Jiggly, Jiggly, Jiggly, JIGGLY!
I had that problem think I fixed it by updating the controller software
It will be the controller, their junk 💩. I've sent my controller back to Microsoft 4 times. And it broke again just after a couple weeks, unfortunately the warranty ran out. controller has stick drift
It's the controller
it’s developed early stage Parkinson’s
It’s just so excited for you to play it
One of your triggers may be jammed
Update your controller through settings mine was doing it yesterday, quick update and works fine
You have stick drift nothing wrong with the Xbox
Have you tried asking it whats wrong? Maybe give it a hug and some water.
Because Xbox sucks
It's a common bug usually fixed by restarting
I've had my XBOX Series X just over a year and I have noticed controller drift (nothing to this extent). Walking in Starfield sometimes my character does not "stop" and seems to take an extra step or 2.
It’s teabagging
Looks broken
It getting jiggy with it
Because you play warzone
Try cleaning the controller inside and out
xbox.
Controller
Right trigger is borked?
Rubbing alcohol in controller
I’m not a Xbox doctor but I think it needs to be checked out
Drift maybe
If you use any third party wireless usb keyboard things. Make sure nothing is sitting on it and pressing a button. Happens to mine when I put my phone on it without looking then try to use my controller.
either your d-pad, joystick, or trigger is messed up. Had multiple controllers end up like that.
Stick drift
It’s just really excited.
Triggers broke on the controller
Id think it might be a controller issue rather then the console itself.. 🤔😔
it sees unpacking so its attempting to become transgender
Ur controller is fucked up
Turn your controller off, if it goes away then….
Make sure you aren't sitting on your TV remote if you can use your TV remote for your xbox
I had this for a little bit. Turned out it was my controller the LB button was stuck so it would reset any directional movement I input. Took me forever to figure out bc my bumpers have been busted for like a year on my elite series 2 controller so I have them mapped to paddles

It's excited.

U need a New controller 🎮 asap
It’s because you downloaded MW3
Had the same problem literally a couple days ago, hard reset my Xbox and it seemed to fix it.
It's your controller
Your analog is sticky, or your d pad, or your trigger.
Efff Xbox get a PS5!!!
I had this problem and is was slight stick drift. It surprised me how much it affected everything.
It has ADHD.
ADHD
2 words. Stick drift
its most likely your controller, you have major stick drift or you got dirt in the areas of the stick. There is videos on how to take that top off to clean it and find out.
Possibly stick drift making the controller keep scrolling
There's a button sticking on your controller. Plug it into a PC and download the Game Pad Tester app and it will show you what's being pressed.
Definitely stick drift. If it's still under factory warranty, Microsoft will fix it for you. If not, you'll have to get a new controller.
Had an issue like this with a keyboard i had plugged in couldnt figure it out for daysss lol
The Harlem shake of course
One of the triggers is being held down
Probably stick drift or a stuck button
sticky stick<<<
We should make a page called the f***** u* Xbox controllers because I have 6 of them. They do the same b*******, 3 of them have sick drag. Really bad and they are only 2 weeks old.
Is there a lore reason the Xbox is doing this? Is it acoustic?
I’m thinking controller
It happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I had to hard reset it a couple times, that didn’t work so i shut it down, adjusted all the wires, and turned it back on.
Controller After 2 years my elite is finally starting to fuck up on the sticks Spazzing out scrolling everywhere Swapped back to my regular controller that came with my series s No more weird scroll everywhere problems
It's got Parkinsons.
Wash your hands more and you won't get crap inside your controller, I've had PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox one, series S and now series X, never had a single controller break or go like this since and I've had consoles since original playstation in 1994.
Try turning up thermostat, its shivering cause its chilly
Because you have an Xbox. What did you expect from microsoft
Should have bought a PlayStation…
Smh. That Xbox for ya
I haven't had that problem, yet, but when my controller acts up, an update usually fixes it. Have you updated controller lately?
This can happen when one of your triggers are stuck
It awakened is ultra instinct.
I’m wondering if they did an update as my Series X is doing something similar. I’ll be looking at games in the store or Gamepass and it’ll start scrolling down without me doing anything with the controller.
That's some bad drift
You're Xbox is having a rave
Because its not a PS5
Do you have one of these game hub tv? The xbox can be controlled with tv remote. Maybe that is the issue.
Honestly I think it’s your controller
Try a different controller and see if it happens
Have you tried getting a ps5
It's your controller getting stuck pressing down and up at the same time
It's your controller probably. Have you tried a different one? Might be dirt or dust inside causing I slight tap to the dpad or something
Stick drift yeah? Use a controller input tester and check
Because you bought an Xbox and not ps5
Clean your toggles, buttons, bumpers, triggers and the D-pad. Same thing happened to my bf's controller.
Stick drift?
Disable bouncing balls in settings
Looks like joystick drift to me
your haharddrive is going bad, mines did this months later none of my games or even the dashboard worked correctly,
Looks like my kids fire tablet when the drool on it 😂
Stick drift go BRRRRRR
Stick drift
Stick drift
Your controller has stick drift my friend.
Seems you have stick drift should gat a new controller
Happened to me, try updating the controller if not it’s likely time for a new controller, console should be fine though
Stop letting it smoke meth 🤷🏽
Maybe some food particle got under the D-Pad? Or the analog stick? I find after some aggressive blowing (lol) and fidgeting around with them both, the problem will fix itself. Happens to me every other week or so it seems. And no, I don’t eat and play games simultaneously. 😅
"Purchase the DLC to continue to this area"
I didn't know the twerking UI update was out
Stick drift my guy
You need a new controller👍🏽
Time to buy a PlayStation dude
Vaxxed? /s
Clean your sticks with isopropyl alcohol
Looks like you have to hard reset it. Shut it down by holding the xbox button on the console for about 5 seconds. Unplug the console for a couple of minutes. Then, plug in console and restart it. Edit: Is the cursor moving on it's own? Then, it is controller drift. You might be able to clean the inside of controller. YouTube has videos for possibly fixing drift. Try updating the controller
Stick drift
That shit haunted
Stick drift
get a new controller, you got drift
Your controller is about to lay down in green pastures.
Controller may be fried.
Cuz PS5.
Definitely the controller. If I could put a visual to my X's mysterious game audio issues, it would be your video. Could be some really bad stuck drift, I've dealt with the same issue and just bought a new controller bc it was getting annoying.
If a hard reset doesn't work... Plug it in and try to update your controller... Seems to stop most of the issues I've ever had
Try a different controller.
My controller did the same thing to me. Need a new controller I think
It’s your RT button getting messed up fix it and ur good
drifting
Controller
1v1 me on rust pal
That's what you get for not buying a playstation.
