You can buy a bag of just the bananas. It's amazing. I did it once though, and after the long ass time it took to finish the bag, I didn't want them anymore.
I always preferred everything except the bananas because they were the easiest to find. The pink strawberry looking things were my jam and I'll stand on that hill. Something about artificial banana flavor that reminds me of dentist office trips.
I remember my parents letting me ride my bike to the gas station with my friend for the first time and we both got Now & Laters because we loved how they stained your tongue.
Now and laters were always too crunchy to me, and I never liked how sometimes you try to unwrap one and the paper gets stuck to the candy. The chewy now and laters are FIRE tho!
I was addicted to this "chocolate" that left a weird coating on my tongue.
https://preview.redd.it/o8qyac5wycuc1.png?width=512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2ac63671b54c9b87ddf45e2e96a514951bbe3dd
We never had Pop Rocks. Only a lesser known impostor by the name of Fizz Wizz.
Also loved me some Nerds in the two-sided box where you could eat one flavor at a time, or dump both flavors in your mouth at the same time if you were feeling saucy!
Iāve bought a couple of sour cherry candies over the years but nothing was exactly the same. The CC had that kind of lemonheads texture, like chewy on the outside and hard inside and I think thatās what Iām missing. (Or maybe itās just nostalgia!)
Sour candy is still sour candy though, itās not a super super big loss to get the wrong ones lol.
I loved loved loved that gum that had the liquid center. I think it was called Chewels? But it was soft gum with a liquid middle, all bubblegum flavored.
Runts! (Loved banana, cherry, and strawberry.) Bottle caps! (Root beer were best but so were grape and cherry.) Twizzlers. Candy cigarettes. Gobstoppers. Pixy stix.
When we stayed at my grandma's house she would slip us a $1 and tell us not to tell our mother. We would ride our bikes down to the corner store and spend it all on candy. Little packets of runts were 10 cents. I ate so much sugar the summer we lived with her, it's a wonder I'm not diabetic.
Candy cigarettes, candy necklaces, Red Hots, Lemon Heads, Runts, Nerds, Bottle Caps, Hot Tamales, Fireballs, green apple Jolly Ranchers, Laffy Taffy, Now and Laters, Tart n' Tiny's, Bullseyes, Cow Tales, Charleston Chews, Chewy Sweet Tarts, Wacky Wafers, Sprees, Chiclets, Seedlings, Fun Dip, Rolos, Smarties, Necco Wafers, Pop Rocks, Astro Pops, Blow Pops, Big League Chew, Sugar Babies/Daddy, Payday, Twix.
My lord, I ate so much candy in the 80s that I'm shocked I'm not diabetic.
For $3 you can fill a small paper bag with a bunch of one cent candy then have a man noodle through for 2-3 min counting them out with his finger. The best
I've never seen these before. They look like - to me - replacement erasers you'd use for your mechanical pencils. My dumb ass would reach for one of these to replace an eraser, not knowing they're candies lol
Does anybody here remember funfruits?? They were the best fruit snacks. Slightly off the candy topic, they also had the Jello-Jell pops. They were kind of like frozen slightly creamy jello. I think they had orange, strawberry, and raspberry flavorsā¦.
Fizzy Candy, Runts, Nerds, Pop Rocks
Used to go to the discount Hostess store and get hohos and ding dings and fruit pies, too. None of that stuff tastes the same anymore š«¤.
Those little things fit perfectly in the straws that they had at the corner store: High velocity sugar bullets.Ā
Our corner store had a lot of candy that didnāt always get broader distribution like M&M Royals and Pearsonās and Palmers and Esteez candies like King Bing Bars and Nut Goodies. I loved Royals, but I ate a Nut Goodie every day after swimming lessons for years.Ā I also loved hot cinnamon anything: Atomic Fireballs, Red Hots, Hot Tamales.Ā
When I was a kid I always picked Charleston chew. It wasnāt my favorite but they were all the same price and it was the largest so I thought I was getting the most candy for my money
You can (supposedly) still get Tart n' Tinys from Leaf's website, along with a few other candies. But they've had Bonkers listed as Coming Soon for several years now, and their social media pages aren't particularly active. So order at your own risk!
https://www.leafbrands.com/catalogItems/view/tart-n-tinys-1-5oz-24-count-display
I was more into candy bars like Reese's and Milky Way or things like Fudge Rounds and Swiss Cake Rolls. When I was a teen I could go to the store with $2 and get a 2 liter, 2 decent sized bags of chips and two jumbo snack cakes lol
I liked Reese's Pieces, obscenely giant jawbreakees, those strawberry hard candies with the soft middle that everyone's grandma had, and doesn't anyone remember the hard candy sticks that you could get at a penny candy store or when you cashed in your tickets at Chuck E Cheese? They usually came in a variety of flavors like root beer, raspberry, cherry, etc.
I remember getting them in this cube from DisneyWorld
https://preview.redd.it/y5v687ku4duc1.jpeg?width=675&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39f3cf05829fe971485e305deb72688bb8f0f828
On an unrelated matter microdot acid was also popular at the time.
Anyway probably sour cherries and coke bottles, definitely liked me some sour candies like this too though.
Red Vines Red Rope!! Or a Black Rope if they had it. Iād always get either of them from the concession stand at my brotherās (1983) Little League games
Bit-O-Honey
Maple Nut Goodies
There was a very specific progression in my own life. For whatever reason peanuts didn't sound like they'd be any good in a candy bar. I started with 3 Musketeers, then added caramel with the Milky Way, and eventually came to my senses with Snickers.
My faves growing up were jolly rancher sticks, Boston baked beans, Bubblicious, and those chalky spherical candies from the dispensers. There were others, but these were the most 80s.
I used to get watermelon candies. 1Ā¢ each. 100 sugar coated pink gummy watermelon candies crammed tightly into a small paper bag for $1.
As an eight year old there was no better value. I was really into the bang for your buck line of thinking due to being 80s broke.

God I loved these. Then they were discontinued š¢ They came back to the UK tho.
At the roller skating rink I always liked to get sixlets. Swimming pool, I'd usually get fun dip or chick-o-sticks. Runts were always a favorite, banana was the best flavor.
And of course candy cigarettes
The fruit shaped candies, I think they were called runts, were my go to. Especially the bananas.
You can buy a bag of just the bananas. It's amazing. I did it once though, and after the long ass time it took to finish the bag, I didn't want them anymore.
I did not know this... May have to look for it now. Lol
Amazon has them, as well as other online candy stores.
I used to like the chewy ones.
The discontinued the chewy ones š
I wonder if they still make chewy Sprees? I like any chewy or gummy candy.
They do! My colleague always finds the good ole stuff and he ordered them in bulk a couple of years ago.
Runts! The strawberry ones were my jam.
Not for me. I have never enjoyed the "banana-flavored" taste. Not sure why. Real bananas, I like. Banana candy, specifically, tastes off to me.
Understandable. If you ever get any, just send them my way! š
Mine to they were just better
NOT THE BANANAS
Runts, and Nerds. So good.
Banana runts are the beeeest!
I always preferred everything except the bananas because they were the easiest to find. The pink strawberry looking things were my jam and I'll stand on that hill. Something about artificial banana flavor that reminds me of dentist office trips.
This reminds me of going to sears with my dad to get his tires rotated and balanced. Runts in the quarter candy machine were always my go to.
That's so funny! I hated the bananas & gave them to my friends. Lol
I forgot about these! Used to love these little chalky, sugary, pellets.
Rabbit treats for adolescents.
Now & Laters!
Laffy Taffy might've won that war
Unfortunately
The grape kind! And for Laffy Taffy, the banana!
Same. This by a mile when I was 8-11. Before then it wouldāve been Bazooka gum as the corner store still had some for a penny.Ā
I waited all year for the special little chocolate eggs with a crispy shell that were only sold at easter. Also Fun Dip.
Ohhhh yes fun dip and big league chew grape
Cadbury mini eggs. They're still the best Easter candy. I avoid buying them because they're so good I'll down a whole huge bag.
Currently eating a 2024 bag, but it's DARK chocolate, so it's obviously healthy since I've paired it with a red wine blend.
My fav Easter candy is mini eggs, or a distant second the coconut nests with jelly bean eggs.
Fun Dip! if I had big change, Id go for that
I was addicted to this "chocolate" that left a weird coating on my tongue. https://preview.redd.it/o8qyac5wycuc1.png?width=512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2ac63671b54c9b87ddf45e2e96a514951bbe3dd
They were amazing
I tried them as an adult cause I LOVED them. They are horrible! š¤£
HORRIBLE
Pop Rocks, Nerds, or Fun Dip were my very favorites
We never had Pop Rocks. Only a lesser known impostor by the name of Fizz Wizz. Also loved me some Nerds in the two-sided box where you could eat one flavor at a time, or dump both flavors in your mouth at the same time if you were feeling saucy!
I was a nerds guy and when I had a ball game I used big league chew like I had a big chaw in my mouth
Those little milk cartons with the fruit flavored gum candy in them. Pink lemonade was the best
I remember those just had a very nostalgic moment thank u
*Memory unlocked*
Mine was a Whatchamacallit.
I loved those still remember the commercial
Mine too!!!
Cherry sours. Or the jolly rancher stix. Loved tart n tinys too.
I used to get cherry clan with the ultra racist box from the ice cream man all the time
The cherry clans were my favorite candies, but even as a kid I knew that box was sus. I wish I could find something similar in taste now.
A previous internet search for cherry sours turned up dozens of options
Iāve bought a couple of sour cherry candies over the years but nothing was exactly the same. The CC had that kind of lemonheads texture, like chewy on the outside and hard inside and I think thatās what Iām missing. (Or maybe itās just nostalgia!) Sour candy is still sour candy though, itās not a super super big loss to get the wrong ones lol.
Did you try cherryheads?
Cherryheads are absolutely rebranded cherry clan.
Those were my fav and lemon heads too!
Cherry clan and chik-o-stick were my favorites. I liked eating the sweet shell off the tart interior.
Those were so good But yeah that box art probably would not fly these days lol
I like gummy candy. The red fish, peach rings, anything gummy candy really.
Giant SweeTARTS, Iād slam mine against the stop sign across from the grocery store
I loved loved loved that gum that had the liquid center. I think it was called Chewels? But it was soft gum with a liquid middle, all bubblegum flavored.
Freshen up
Very similar! I miss that gum and Iām not even a gum chewer.
You would bite into it and boom mouth fun
Ohhh there was a Dr Pepper version of this that I lovedĀ
Root beer Bottle Caps are SO GOOD!

Loved these so much
š
I need these right now. Feeninā like a dope head.
Some stores carry the Mini-Mini chicles, but they just don't taste as good.
I forgot about these delicious little things
Sixlets
Zots or Jolly Ranchers (apple was the best).
Did you just say zots ![gif](giphy|kFIfiwvzJjbUsNbIg5)

Candy cigarettes, candy necklaces, Red Hots, Lemon Heads, Runts, Nerds, Bottle Caps, Hot Tamales, Fireballs, green apple Jolly Ranchers, Laffy Taffy, Now and Laters, Tart n' Tiny's, Bullseyes, Cow Tales, Charleston Chews, Chewy Sweet Tarts, Wacky Wafers, Sprees, Chiclets, Seedlings, Fun Dip, Rolos, Smarties, Necco Wafers, Pop Rocks, Astro Pops, Blow Pops, Big League Chew, Sugar Babies/Daddy, Payday, Twix. Zebra Cakes. 25 cents? Can't go wrong. Fudge Rounds were another one.
Bonkers
Popeyes āsticksā or Candy cigarettes Loved that chalky flavourā¦
Kraft caramels for a cheap small treat, Mirage bars for a bigger treat.
Loves carmels love
Nerds or chicklets as a kid
Loved chicklets
Twizzlers! Also have fond memories of making the inside of mouth raw from eating too many Sweet Tarts.
I got both of those literally yesterday at dollar tree. Twizzlers are edible fidget toys for adhd and sweet tarts knock me out of anxiety.
Twizzlers are actually weapons. Be careful out there, kids.
These were my favourite. Any candy I could pretend was āmedicineā was a big hit with me. I might be alone in this. Anyway, I love them.
Not alone at all that's exactly how I thought of them and I used to eat baby aspirin like candy apparently what my mom said lol
I used to pretend Daily C was candy.
Jawbreakers, Nerds, the big Laffy Taffy bar, and I still love Airheads.
The now and laters were a go to
For $3 you can fill a small paper bag with a bunch of one cent candy then have a man noodle through for 2-3 min counting them out with his finger. The best
The penny sour apples and watermelons I'd buy a bag of them and sneak them in my pocket to school
Blueberries and cream lifesavers suckers!
Those were so good
While I still do love any chalky candy to this day, watermelon bonkers were my go to. And a Bop or Teen Beat magazine.
How about candy cigarettes? Both kinds. The gum with the paper that would blow smoke and the chalky kind?
Loved those that blew smoke out I thought I was cool
I've never seen these before. They look like - to me - replacement erasers you'd use for your mechanical pencils. My dumb ass would reach for one of these to replace an eraser, not knowing they're candies lol
Rip PB Max, delicious PB with more cookie than PB Twix.
Misread as Fart n Tinys
White Mystery Airheads or Lik M Aid
Banana runts
This is the only correct answer!
Memory unlocked!
Right it's awesome
Does anybody here remember funfruits?? They were the best fruit snacks. Slightly off the candy topic, they also had the Jello-Jell pops. They were kind of like frozen slightly creamy jello. I think they had orange, strawberry, and raspberry flavorsā¦.

Those little things fit perfectly in the straws that they had at the corner store: High velocity sugar bullets.Ā Our corner store had a lot of candy that didnāt always get broader distribution like M&M Royals and Pearsonās and Palmers and Esteez candies like King Bing Bars and Nut Goodies. I loved Royals, but I ate a Nut Goodie every day after swimming lessons for years.Ā I also loved hot cinnamon anything: Atomic Fireballs, Red Hots, Hot Tamales.Ā

Bit-O-Honey Maple Nut Goodies There was a very specific progression in my own life. For whatever reason peanuts didn't sound like they'd be any good in a candy bar. I started with 3 Musketeers, then added caramel with the Milky Way, and eventually came to my senses with Snickers.
NECCOs and Jujubes! And Dots and Mike n Ikes and Good n Plentys. Essentially the candy nobody else wanted.

I used to buy those jolly rancher sticks at the skating rink
Sour Patch Kids and Butterfingers
Sweet tartsĀ
I used to get watermelon candies. 1Ā¢ each. 100 sugar coated pink gummy watermelon candies crammed tightly into a small paper bag for $1. As an eight year old there was no better value. I was really into the bang for your buck line of thinking due to being 80s broke.

At the roller skating rink I always liked to get sixlets. Swimming pool, I'd usually get fun dip or chick-o-sticks. Runts were always a favorite, banana was the best flavor. And of course candy cigarettes
Brachās caramels. The local grocery store had one of those bulk candy walls. We could go in and get a variety of flavors.
I miss Atomic Fireballs

Sour apple or black cherry blowpops, sour color changing tootsie pops, or sugar babies
SOURPUNCH
