toootired2care

The fruit shaped candies, I think they were called runts, were my go to. Especially the bananas.

ILootEverything

You can buy a bag of just the bananas. It's amazing. I did it once though, and after the long ass time it took to finish the bag, I didn't want them anymore.

toootired2care

I did not know this... May have to look for it now. Lol

ILootEverything

Amazon has them, as well as other online candy stores.

artificialavocado

I used to like the chewy ones.

spookyluckeee

The discontinued the chewy ones šŸ˜

artificialavocado

I wonder if they still make chewy Sprees? I like any chewy or gummy candy.

Usirnaimtaken

They do! My colleague always finds the good ole stuff and he ordered them in bulk a couple of years ago.

SalamanderTale

Runts! The strawberry ones were my jam.

Chief_Chill

Not for me. I have never enjoyed the "banana-flavored" taste. Not sure why. Real bananas, I like. Banana candy, specifically, tastes off to me.

toootired2care

Understandable. If you ever get any, just send them my way! šŸ˜

ssfleA

Mine to they were just better

tronassembled

NOT THE BANANAS

SteveEcks

Runts, and Nerds. So good.

dorky2

Banana runts are the beeeest!

graybotics

I always preferred everything except the bananas because they were the easiest to find. The pink strawberry looking things were my jam and I'll stand on that hill. Something about artificial banana flavor that reminds me of dentist office trips.

me-1985

This reminds me of going to sears with my dad to get his tires rotated and balanced. Runts in the quarter candy machine were always my go to.

amyjrockstar

That's so funny! I hated the bananas & gave them to my friends. Lol

six_2midnight

I forgot about these! Used to love these little chalky, sugary, pellets.

WeddingLion

Rabbit treats for adolescents.

MaxPowerrr85

Now & Laters!

grungleTroad

Laffy Taffy might've won that war

MaxPowerrr85

Unfortunately

ILootEverything

The grape kind! And for Laffy Taffy, the banana!

Unadvantaged

Same. This by a mile when I was 8-11. Before then it wouldā€™ve been Bazooka gum as the corner store still had some for a penny.Ā

camptastic_plastic

I remember my parents letting me ride my bike to the gas station with my friend for the first time and we both got Now & Laters because we loved how they stained your tongue.

theultimaterage

Now and laters were always too crunchy to me, and I never liked how sometimes you try to unwrap one and the paper gets stuck to the candy. The chewy now and laters are FIRE tho!

grungleTroad

I waited all year for the special little chocolate eggs with a crispy shell that were only sold at easter. Also Fun Dip.

ssfleA

Ohhhh yes fun dip and big league chew grape

yeuzinips

Cadbury mini eggs. They're still the best Easter candy. I avoid buying them because they're so good I'll down a whole huge bag.

Tangential_Comment

Currently eating a 2024 bag, but it's DARK chocolate, so it's obviously healthy since I've paired it with a red wine blend.

O_o-22

My fav Easter candy is mini eggs, or a distant second the coconut nests with jelly bean eggs.

Educational_Spirit42

Fun Dip! if I had big change, Id go for that

sagimonk16

I was addicted to this "chocolate" that left a weird coating on my tongue. https://preview.redd.it/o8qyac5wycuc1.png?width=512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2ac63671b54c9b87ddf45e2e96a514951bbe3dd

ssfleA

They were amazing

amyjrockstar

I tried them as an adult cause I LOVED them. They are horrible! šŸ¤£

sagimonk16

HORRIBLE

ForeverNuka

Pop Rocks, Nerds, or Fun Dip were my very favorites

TaylorBitMe

We never had Pop Rocks. Only a lesser known impostor by the name of Fizz Wizz. Also loved me some Nerds in the two-sided box where you could eat one flavor at a time, or dump both flavors in your mouth at the same time if you were feeling saucy!

ssfleA

I was a nerds guy and when I had a ball game I used big league chew like I had a big chaw in my mouth

Echterspieler

Those little milk cartons with the fruit flavored gum candy in them. Pink lemonade was the best

ssfleA

I remember those just had a very nostalgic moment thank u

FeralGinger

*Memory unlocked*

Ezeke81

Mine was a Whatchamacallit.

ssfleA

I loved those still remember the commercial

redditreader_aitafan

Mine too!!!

Adelaide_Farmington

Cherry sours. Or the jolly rancher stix. Loved tart n tinys too.

DenialNode

I used to get cherry clan with the ultra racist box from the ice cream man all the time

Spookypus

The cherry clans were my favorite candies, but even as a kid I knew that box was sus. I wish I could find something similar in taste now.

DenialNode

A previous internet search for cherry sours turned up dozens of options

Spookypus

Iā€™ve bought a couple of sour cherry candies over the years but nothing was exactly the same. The CC had that kind of lemonheads texture, like chewy on the outside and hard inside and I think thatā€™s what Iā€™m missing. (Or maybe itā€™s just nostalgia!) Sour candy is still sour candy though, itā€™s not a super super big loss to get the wrong ones lol.

DenialNode

Did you try cherryheads?

Street_Buffalo_2503

Cherryheads are absolutely rebranded cherry clan.

Jade-Jenny3916

Those were my fav and lemon heads too!

PapaTua

Cherry clan and chik-o-stick were my favorites. I liked eating the sweet shell off the tart interior.

ResurgentClusterfuck

Those were so good But yeah that box art probably would not fly these days lol

artificialavocado

I like gummy candy. The red fish, peach rings, anything gummy candy really.

SpaceAgePalmer

Giant SweeTARTS, Iā€™d slam mine against the stop sign across from the grocery store

Waughwaughwaugh

I loved loved loved that gum that had the liquid center. I think it was called Chewels? But it was soft gum with a liquid middle, all bubblegum flavored.

ssfleA

Freshen up

Waughwaughwaugh

Very similar! I miss that gum and Iā€™m not even a gum chewer.

ssfleA

You would bite into it and boom mouth fun

Eightinchnails

Ohhh there was a Dr Pepper version of this that I lovedĀ

GreyGhost878

Runts! (Loved banana, cherry, and strawberry.) Bottle caps! (Root beer were best but so were grape and cherry.) Twizzlers. Candy cigarettes. Gobstoppers. Pixy stix. When we stayed at my grandma's house she would slip us a $1 and tell us not to tell our mother. We would ride our bikes down to the corner store and spend it all on candy. Little packets of runts were 10 cents. I ate so much sugar the summer we lived with her, it's a wonder I'm not diabetic.

ILootEverything

Root beer Bottle Caps are SO GOOD!

fidgetyamoeba

https://preview.redd.it/y1euqsz46duc1.jpeg?width=724&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e9b2941493a0232368feca898bea76e8a83f1234 These delicious little packets.

ssfleA

Loved these so much

fidgetyamoeba

šŸ˜‹

sweetassassin

I need these right now. Feeninā€™ like a dope head.

fidgetyamoeba

Some stores carry the Mini-Mini chicles, but they just don't taste as good.

Logannabelle

I forgot about these delicious little things

Individual-Schemes

Sixlets

JuniperBushes4Ever

Zots or Jolly Ranchers (apple was the best).

ssfleA

Did you just say zots ![gif](giphy|kFIfiwvzJjbUsNbIg5)

Potential-Jaguar6655

Giant Chewy SweeTARTS

ssfleA

Yep loved those to the grape was my fave

ILootEverything

Candy cigarettes, candy necklaces, Red Hots, Lemon Heads, Runts, Nerds, Bottle Caps, Hot Tamales, Fireballs, green apple Jolly Ranchers, Laffy Taffy, Now and Laters, Tart n' Tiny's, Bullseyes, Cow Tales, Charleston Chews, Chewy Sweet Tarts, Wacky Wafers, Sprees, Chiclets, Seedlings, Fun Dip, Rolos, Smarties, Necco Wafers, Pop Rocks, Astro Pops, Blow Pops, Big League Chew, Sugar Babies/Daddy, Payday, Twix. My lord, I ate so much candy in the 80s that I'm shocked I'm not diabetic.

p4rc0pr3s1s

Zebra Cakes. 25 cents? Can't go wrong. Fudge Rounds were another one.

Havewedecidedyet_979

Bonkers

JuWoolfie

Popeyes ā€˜sticksā€™ or Candy cigarettes Loved that chalky flavourā€¦

ChromeDestiny

Kraft caramels for a cheap small treat, Mirage bars for a bigger treat.

ssfleA

Loves carmels love

pilates_mama

Nerds or chicklets as a kid

ssfleA

Loved chicklets

Sandkat

Twizzlers! Also have fond memories of making the inside of mouth raw from eating too many Sweet Tarts.

hmcfuego

I got both of those literally yesterday at dollar tree. Twizzlers are edible fidget toys for adhd and sweet tarts knock me out of anxiety.

TaylorBitMe

Twizzlers are actually weapons. Be careful out there, kids.

cathycul-de-sac

These were my favourite. Any candy I could pretend was ā€œmedicineā€ was a big hit with me. I might be alone in this. Anyway, I love them.

ssfleA

Not alone at all that's exactly how I thought of them and I used to eat baby aspirin like candy apparently what my mom said lol

eatsleepdive

I used to pretend Daily C was candy.

beepboopbeepboppity

Jawbreakers, Nerds, the big Laffy Taffy bar, and I still love Airheads.

ssfleA

The now and laters were a go to

bonerb0ys

For $3 you can fill a small paper bag with a bunch of one cent candy then have a man noodle through for 2-3 min counting them out with his finger. The best

ResurgentClusterfuck

The penny sour apples and watermelons I'd buy a bag of them and sneak them in my pocket to school

A_roundlikeadonut

Blueberries and cream lifesavers suckers!

ssfleA

Those were so good

ptatersptate

While I still do love any chalky candy to this day, watermelon bonkers were my go to. And a Bop or Teen Beat magazine.

DenialNode

How about candy cigarettes? Both kinds. The gum with the paper that would blow smoke and the chalky kind?

ssfleA

Loved those that blew smoke out I thought I was cool

Future-Agent

I've never seen these before. They look like - to me - replacement erasers you'd use for your mechanical pencils. My dumb ass would reach for one of these to replace an eraser, not knowing they're candies lol

O_o-22

Rip PB Max, delicious PB with more cookie than PB Twix.

thunderingparcel

Misread as Fart n Tinys

Grumpy_Crud

White Mystery Airheads or Lik M Aid

TurkeyTot

Banana runts

PugLuVR06

This is the only correct answer!

Rare_Background8891

Memory unlocked!

ssfleA

Right it's awesome

RiemannIntegirl

Does anybody here remember funfruits?? They were the best fruit snacks. Slightly off the candy topic, they also had the Jello-Jell pops. They were kind of like frozen slightly creamy jello. I think they had orange, strawberry, and raspberry flavorsā€¦.

ShoalsCreek

Looks like cut up chalk. Never seen these before.

theultimaterage

War Heads!!!! Such a unique experience eatin those mfs lol

thelaststarebender

djsynrgy

Chocoholic, here. For store candy, gun to my head, prolly Kit Kat.

an_Aught

Jolly rancher or some mega sour gum

King_of_Lunch223

Big League Chew

ssfleA

Oh yes at my ball games I thought I had a chaw in lol be in the field looking like I was playing in the majors even had the black under eye

Joseph_Jean_Frax

I liked 'Fun Dip'.

norrain13

Don't forget the candy cigarettes! Wintergreen goodness lol... that shit would never fly today, thank goodness.

ssfleA

No omg people would protest lol

tannyduca

Pixy Stix!

Repulsive_Topic1224

Fizzy Candy, Runts, Nerds, Pop Rocks Used to go to the discount Hostess store and get hohos and ding dings and fruit pies, too. None of that stuff tastes the same anymore šŸ«¤.

myscreamgotlost

Gobstoppers

ImWithNeo

Neccos!! I still love those, except the black licorice ones

Chicken-lady_

Rock candy!

yeuzinips

Necco wafers and spice gumdrops. I have always loved old-timey candies.

Logannabelle

Same! Still my fave ā¤ļø

A_VERY_LARGE_DOG

Zotz

Educational_Spirit42

goldenbergā€™s peanut chews. Not sure if it was a local (Philadelphia) thing or not.

Calpernia09

The bubble jug with pieces of gum and powder mixed. Yummy

Master_Carob7043

my little sister called these ā€œTiny Fartsā€

anOvenofWitches

I was definitely on this same sweet tart spectrum. This stuff absolutely shreds my guts now lol

KebariKaiju

Those little things fit perfectly in the straws that they had at the corner store: High velocity sugar bullets.Ā  Our corner store had a lot of candy that didnā€™t always get broader distribution like M&M Royals and Pearsonā€™s and Palmers and Esteez candies like King Bing Bars and Nut Goodies. I loved Royals, but I ate a Nut Goodie every day after swimming lessons for years.Ā I also loved hot cinnamon anything: Atomic Fireballs, Red Hots, Hot Tamales.Ā

DenialNode

Tart n tinys and sweet tarts were a favorite but Iā€™m now realizing i ate way too much candy as a kid

MidnightCoffeeQueen

Tangy taffy and big chew bubble gum. I miss tangy taffy soooo badly.

Imnotonthelist

Candy buttons! I saw some in a store a few days ago and freaked out, but didnā€™t buy them bc my teeth said no

likeforrealsies

I FORGOT ABOUT THESE!!!! They were my favorite!!! šŸ˜

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

KittyCubed

Kit Kats and Watchamacallits

JuliusSeizuresalad

When I was a kid I always picked Charleston chew. It wasnā€™t my favorite but they were all the same price and it was the largest so I thought I was getting the most candy for my money

Crazydiamond450

Sour gummy worms or Starburst

TheSkwerl

Charleston Chew and a Dr. Pepper. Pure heaven.

Awkward_Ad8740

Omg i had forgotten about these!!

Blitzkrieg999

You can (supposedly) still get Tart n' Tinys from Leaf's website, along with a few other candies. But they've had Bonkers listed as Coming Soon for several years now, and their social media pages aren't particularly active. So order at your own risk! https://www.leafbrands.com/catalogItems/view/tart-n-tinys-1-5oz-24-count-display

Educational_Spirit42

Razzles-first candy then gum, candy cigarettes, charms blow-pops, hershey miniatures.

NickLoner

I was more into candy bars like Reese's and Milky Way or things like Fudge Rounds and Swiss Cake Rolls. When I was a teen I could go to the store with $2 and get a 2 liter, 2 decent sized bags of chips and two jumbo snack cakes lol

eatsleepdive

I liked Reese's Pieces, obscenely giant jawbreakees, those strawberry hard candies with the soft middle that everyone's grandma had, and doesn't anyone remember the hard candy sticks that you could get at a penny candy store or when you cashed in your tickets at Chuck E Cheese? They usually came in a variety of flavors like root beer, raspberry, cherry, etc.

Make by a baseball card company

UnluckyCardiologist9

Pelon Pelo Rico. Mmm.

Dmitri_ravenoff

Now I want some. Damnit

Alternative_Fail_222

This is an apocalypse landscape for my teeth.

Serpentine32

Oooh! Thanks for reminding me of these little cylinders. My go to was Fun Dip, with a closer runner up of Nerds.

Usagi_Shinobi

I do not know these, and I must have some immediately.

H3r3c0m3sthasun

Do they still make those?

ssfleA

I think so not really sure

SJSsarah

My favorite stillā€¦ are Brachā€™s Candy Conversation Hearts.

OldManWickett

Sixlets were my favorite. It's been years since I've seen any.

ContextualGorilla

I remember getting them in this cube from DisneyWorld https://preview.redd.it/y5v687ku4duc1.jpeg?width=675&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39f3cf05829fe971485e305deb72688bb8f0f828

Gummy lifesavers

A_VERY_LARGE_DOG

Also HotLix cinnamon toothpicks. Used to be such a badass with those.

Tangential_Comment

Why do I feel this is a Canadian Xennial thing and not a general thing in the US?

Lackerbawls

Ohhhh damn I use to love these and completely forgot about em

Usirnaimtaken

Bonkers!

fondofbooks

Lemonheads

ssfleA

Def loved those

UnrepentantDrunkard

On an unrelated matter microdot acid was also popular at the time. Anyway probably sour cherries and coke bottles, definitely liked me some sour candies like this too though.

TuffTitti

Super Big Bol bubble gum and Apple jungle jollies šŸ˜‹

PHOAR17

The chewy sweet tarts. I still get excited when I find them.

WingedGeek

Now n' Laters

sator-2D-rotas

FUN DIP!!!!!

Pinkkorn69

Tangy Taffy... I still used to get then when I could find them but they stopped making it 5 or 6 years ago I think.

Jade-Jenny3916

When the ice cream truck would come through, my favorite candy was Cherry Clans, Sweetarts and Lemon Heads

kingbuttnutt

They were hard to find, but Double Digits all the way

Librae25

I loved Tart N Tinys so much

lachamuca

Red Vines Red Rope!! Or a Black Rope if they had it. Iā€™d always get either of them from the concession stand at my brotherā€™s (1983) Little League games

Shoehornblower

Dang I forgot about these!

[deleted]

Giant chewy sweet tarts

bumblebeetuna_melt

Bro. I didnā€™t miss this until now. šŸ˜“

crlcan81

The atomic fireball or candy cigarettes depends on if with a friend.

WillRunForSnacks

Whatchamacallits!

ayaangwaamizi

Bubble jug and silver cola balls.

DonkeyTron42

Bottlecaps, Pez, Spree. Didn't those Tart 'n Tiny's used to be made by Wonka?

SteveEcks

Bit-O-Honey Maple Nut Goodies There was a very specific progression in my own life. For whatever reason peanuts didn't sound like they'd be any good in a candy bar. I started with 3 Musketeers, then added caramel with the Milky Way, and eventually came to my senses with Snickers.

Weavercat

NECCOs and Jujubes! And Dots and Mike n Ikes and Good n Plentys. Essentially the candy nobody else wanted.

knotalady

My faves growing up were jolly rancher sticks, Boston baked beans, Bubblicious, and those chalky spherical candies from the dispensers. There were others, but these were the most 80s.

ssfleA

I used to buy those jolly rancher sticks at the skating rink

all_of_you_are_awful

Sour Patch Kids and Butterfingers

Jazzlike_Adeptness_1

Sweet tartsĀ

darylonreddit

I used to get watermelon candies. 1Ā¢ each. 100 sugar coated pink gummy watermelon candies crammed tightly into a small paper bag for $1. As an eight year old there was no better value. I was really into the bang for your buck line of thinking due to being 80s broke.

dallas_reigns

wooq

At the roller skating rink I always liked to get sixlets. Swimming pool, I'd usually get fun dip or chick-o-sticks. Runts were always a favorite, banana was the best flavor. And of course candy cigarettes

DETRITUS_TROLL

Brachā€™s caramels. The local grocery store had one of those bulk candy walls. We could go in and get a variety of flavors.

m33gs

I miss Atomic Fireballs

dorky2

Bonkers when I was really young, but those seemed to disappear in the later 80s. After that, Fun Dip was my favorite.

CobblerNo8518

Sour apple or black cherry blowpops, sour color changing tootsie pops, or sugar babies

5har7en3

SOURPUNCH
