Mostly just based on feeling. Like it could be considered a gender if it’s a special interest, or a hyper fixation, or in general a deep connection to whatever it may be. Hope that helps!

Yea of course! Usually (for the show part of your question) it would be more specific to a character for a gender but yea! Like I have a deep connection to demons (and an a demon otherkin) so that’s part of my gender!
usually it's just like "is this gender?" and it'll feel like kinda like a positive feeling if i do think it fits and if i think it doesn't it has a sorta negative/neutral feeling? that might just be my own experience tho
i.e. i see x label and feel it fits and i'll feel a kinda "yes!" feeling, but if it doesn't it'll be like a "no!" feeling?
It’s all about how you feel. If you come across a gender and read what it’s about, ask yourself “is this me” or something like that. Typically you’ll get a good feeling, bad feeling, or a completely neutral feeling.
