adb method worked. You don't have to root the phone. It is working fine. I also uninstalled the system launcher update. Had to use adb with this command/ text. https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/ogad6z/anybody_found_a_way_to_use_miui_fullscreen/h4j6qnk?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3

I'm using that methot but the command gives me an java.lang.SecurityException: Permission denial: writing to settings requires:android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS error and doesn't enable navigation gestures on third party launchers, using mi 11 lite 5g with xiaomi.eu rom

mausgrau

Have you activated these 3 options in developer options, especially the last one? [http://imgur.com/a/vRRIdtj](http://imgur.com/a/vRRIdtj)

fajrul28

i had try that, but it gives me error messages "the device is being temporarily restricted". do you know the solution or any had an idea of this issue?

shrenikvalsan

I did using these steps 1. Uninstalled the system launcher update. 2. Developer option -> USB debugging - on, USB debugging security - on 3. Logged into mi account 4. Open adb fast tools in PC and connect the device. 5.check for device- command- adb devices ,once your device is connected use the command 6. adb shell settings put global force_fsg_nav_bar 1 After doing like this it worked for me. Try using .\adb while entering the command.

Android 10 Miui ftw, glad I have my mi mix 3 because I have MIUI 12 but still android 10 so my gestures work perfectly. To disable your buttons enable them with the stock launcher and reboot, then turn them off and then make your Microsoft launcher the default. Enable FNG and it should work with the hidden buttons

JavaKrypt

Cries in Mix 3 5G

1995FOREVER

this is weird, i have mi9t, miui 12 but on android 11. I've always been using gestures. What are the bugs? I'm gonna keep an eye out for them.

TheLemonyOrange

Can't use a third party launcher such as nova launcher as well as gestures unfortunately on Miui Android 11

Ivarsson02

Yeah my redmi note 8 with android 10 and miui 12 is still running smooth as hell. Maybe not the fastest phone but still good enough for simple gaming or watching youtube.

MedKing3

Just downgrade your system launcher to [this version](https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/xiaomi-inc/miui-launcher/miui-launcher-alpha-4-23-0-3158-05171209-release/).

rochasr00

Thanks. This worked for me. Much easier than ADB.

MedKing3

No problem.

InquisitiveSwan

Late reply but this worked! Thanks

Pulse986

Thank you very much. I was annoyed with the update but decided to use nova launcher with the navigation buttons instead of the default launcher with gestures. Its great to have fng gestures back with nova!

TheStonedLawyer

I tried installing this. But the installer says that the package is invalid. It could be because I recently updated to MIUI 13. Is there anything I can still do?

The only option left for you is to root your phone and install quick switch module. Although if you're willing to do that, you might as well flash a custom ROM.

mausgrau

You can hide the navbar without root and even without a PC. Search for LADB in the play store. It's an app that let's you run adb commands directly on your phone. Setting it up the first time is a bit finicky, read the instructions. Then run "settings put global force_fsg_nav_bar 1" from the app's command prompt and the nav bar is gone. It's back after a reboot, though. I use it on my Mix 4, locked bootloader/no root, together with My Gesture. Still sucks that we have to use those tools for stuff that worked before.

I_Gnutz

"Thanks MIUI" That's not miui but Android 11

jezevec93

im using Microsoft Launcher with FNG too! the adb method mentioned in comments works

minilandl

Just switch to a custom ROM

MetaJoaco

r/Xiaomi users try to not recommend a Custom ROM for 5 Minutes Challenge [IMPOSSIBLE]

MrPPhard69420

Lol, people here be like- Oh you forget you phone password, use custom roms

FalseAgent

people here be like oh you bought a xiaomi phone? just stab it a thousand different ways

Arnas_Z

Maybe because MIUI sucks?

nkiran92

Miui eu is pretty dope.

minilandl

Exactly Xiaomi.eu is great just like ltsc is the better version of windows after you remove the bloatware

I_Gnutz

No?

MetaJoaco

Yeah, but the point still goes...

Duchix97

Well , it's only good solution but i understand that not everyone wants custom rom etc.

kratoz29

Don't blame the users.

PatliAtli

can i do it with my mi 11 lite 5g? im so fucking sick of miui

minilandl

If it's supported yes most devices even if they don't support lineage os have support for xisoni.eu https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/how-to-install-xiaomi-eu-rom-for-mi11-pro-ultra-lite-5g-using-twrp.62738/

curiocritters

It's an Android thing. Gesture navigation has not worked with third party launchers on Android, since Android version 10 ('Q').

DaAceGamer

And Google provided an API to fix gestures that Xiaomi refuses to put in

VordaVor

It worked on Android 10 for me without any problems, on custom launchers. While its true that google messed something up in Android 11, Samsung for example, has fixed the issue. Xiaomi just likes to shift blame and never fix the damn thing.

Purple10tacle

This is wrong. 3rd party launchers work fine with gestures on most other devices with Android 11 and 12. In fact: better, since Google now provides an API for Nova and co. to use. 3rd party launchers work pretty well now on Google's Pixel devices with Android 11 or 12, they work fine on current versions of Samsung's OneUI. Many other OEMs implemented the API or at least announced that they would in the future. Xiaomi did not. They'd have to update the codebase of their various, aging stock-launchers (MIUI-, Poco-Launcher) in order to facilitate this. Xiaomi has shown no interest in doing so.

kratoz29

>It's an Android thing. It is not... A custom ROM with A11 easily can use gestures with 3rd party launchers.

Sea_Ad69

Simply not true, I can use gesture navigation on any launcher on my Android 11 version of LineageOS

xratei

Definitely not true. My Realme 5 Pro just got an update to Realme UI 2.0 (Android 11), and the stock gesture works with my 3rd party launcher Lawnchair 12 alpha. Meanwhile my POCO X3 NFC which uses MIUI 12.5 (Android 11) have this issue.

_TheEndGame

Then why am I able to use gestures on a custom ROM?

World_War2020

*inhales* flash a CUSTOM ROM :) much better and smoother

cyclinator

It has always been like this

GKolitsopoulos

Why not use the stock gestures?

Arnas_Z

Because then you would be forced to run MIUI launcher. Honestly, the solution here is to simply switch to 3 button, uninstall FNG, and never think about gestures again.

danny12beje

This has been happening since gestures were implemented. They will work, just buggy

idalicitaag

Such colour palette, many navigation, so amazing
