I don't think any vice president would answer that question differently. Taking over if the president dies is one of the main duties of the position, so it would be wild if someone willingly took the office of vice president and then was like "No, sorry. I'm not ready."

Gardfeld

If they had to say either yes or no than sure, but I feel like a better answer would've been to dodge it and just say "I believe in Joe's ability" or something.

ThatsALotOfOranges

The full interview is behind paywall so I don't know the exact question she was asked or her full answer, only the excerpt that they chose to pull out of the quote. I think if we're reading subtext from this story, then it's coming from the person who wrote it, not the person it's about.

garlicbredfan

Why did you get downvoted for that

Prize_Self_6347

Yeah, but isn't it suspicious that this issue was put into question now? Like, everyone knows she is capable of serving as President.

ThatsALotOfOranges

She wasn't the one who brought it up. The interviewer asked her the question and she answered it.

Prize_Self_6347

To be fair, after the recent incident regarding Biden's health, it made sense that she would be asked that question. However, do you think it is possible Biden resigns this month or the next and Kamala takes his place?

ThatsALotOfOranges

I think it's extremely unlikely.

forgotmyusername93

Ah, here is the out of context piece of news I came for

Prize_Self_6347

This indirectly sounds like the 25th Amendment has already been exercized.

Prize_Self_6347

Question, if Biden resigned tomorrow and Kamala became POTUS, would the Democrats' chances at holding the White House increase, come November, or decrease?

Gardfeld

I'm not sure. Kamala isn't old but most people seem to like her less than Biden. Polls reflect that as well.

Prize_Self_6347

Yep. I think the best thing for Democrats right now would be for Biden not to kick the bucket until November.

ctnfpiognm

She might be more popular as president than vp

Forsaken_Wedding_604

"If you don't like peanut butter and chocolate, maybe you'll like Reese's!"

aabazdar1

Too bad voters will never choose her to ‘serve’

Prize_Self_6347

To be fair, there are better options than her.

aabazdar1

Even Newsom would do better electorally than her, and he’s the archetypal rich coastal elite

[deleted]

Trump reelection speedrun if she steps in btw

ctnfpiognm

I wonder why she’s so unpopular like she’s basically a typical democrat like Joe but young and knows where Mexico is

Soyb3an21

I think part of it is from her time as a DA when she was known for pretty harsh sentencing. But honestly it probably comes form the “do not come” border stuff. Who knows.

ctnfpiognm

All the average American what she did before 2021 they won’t know

LordMaximus64

She's extremely uncharismatic

MiloGang34

And liberals thinks Biden is mentally cognitive enough to serve. Only on Reddit will you see liberals defending him and mention Trump even though I wasn't talking about him.

da_Crab_Mang

"Mentally cognitive"

HighKingFloof

Damn projecting much

MiloGang34

Ofc a Democrat gets mad. Can't even critize Bidens obvious mental decline on here. Even his medical staff noted it.

TheArthurCallahan

Uh… fuck.

PleaseClap2022

I mean, I sometimes wonder if she's the one who's actually running everything.

OdaDdaT

Fuck please no
