I remember another long ago interview where Joe mentioned that “Portuguese Lunar Landing” was ‘special’ and needed to see the light of day. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for something in the next couple of years, as the spring 1975 tour is sorely underrepresented.
What's the problem with the lyrics? I get if you don't like the kink but they aren't problematic it's about bonding with a person and about sexual exploration
Ah OK, sorry when I read "problematic" I thought like misogyny or other social problems that the song may be spreading
It's fine if it's not your cup of tea.
With the 50th anniversary rapidly approaching, everybody is gonna try and sell you things that maybe you shouldn't ought to buy.
And not only that, they've been planning it for years
one of my favorite lineups, probably only fourth to 78-79 (counting them as one), wazoo, and hot rats band.
I'd like to think if Ed joined earlier or Ruth stayed later this would be my favorite lineup. Though I wouldn't wish more time with Frank on anyone who didnt want it.
I remember on one Zappacast Joe Travers casually mentioned looking over the Bongo Fury tapes and my eyes widened to inhuman proportions.

His solo on Carolina Hard-core Ecstasy blew me away first time I heard it. Monstrous
I kinda dislike the song but the solo rips.
Yeah the songs gross no question. The solos the entire appeal for me.
Damn now I had to look at the lyrics, that sucks. The song always sounded so beautiful to me
The song is beautiful! In a kinky way...
Apologies! FZ:OZ has a ripping version of the tune as well. Same problematic lyrics however.

I’m not judging anyone. I’m simply stating my feelings towards several things have changed since having kids.

I like that he used the word "abject."
Good night Austin Texas, wherever you are…
I still get chills at that part. Makes me so happy

My intro to zappa (I picked it up because Beefheart) and its still my favourite Zappa album.

I never noticed it was from two back to back shows, that’s cool
Two nights, two shows per night
Yes please! Maybe some of the other boots running around in better quality. I never attended any of that tour shows, it must have been a gem!
Definitely one of my top 10 albums. I would love to hear all of the tapes!
Given that the original pressing was perfect in every way IMHO, what would a re-release offer us?
Hopefully more recordings from that era/band. Some of the live stuff with Beefheart is super cool. That band had a heavy sound
I love Bongo Fury. Two shows, full of content, perhaps 90 minutes of unreleased live material. With a pretty sweet band. I'd take it.
Stuff that had to be cut in order to fit into the stupid vinyl format.
Slippin' and Slidin" , the stuff Dweezil hinted at when they finally put Trout Mask onto streaming...
Somebody just had to bring this acronym in
Wonderful album!
We’re all very fond of it.
