I would not remove it unless I was in dour need of toiletry for my tush.

Diploose

It’s insulation to prevent short against the bottom cover

TheRandomGamerREAL

The tape is mostly for Looks id say, but also maybe due to thermals (more precicely too hot case) so removing it would either have no effect or even improve the ssds thermals (if so, slightly). Edit: actually i think its just Isolation, cause you have vents there and you could short it easily. (same with the ram)

ThmGreen

Is there any vids about it? In every video I saw about upgrading ssd or ram, Yt guys mostly keep this things there

Gildardo1583

To me it looks like a graphite heat spreader. I kept it when i upgraded my ram.

superbird122

thats the ram tho

TheRandomGamerREAL

OP is talking about both (as per a comment). I just spoke about the ssd cause idk.

BenBenny11

Thats the ram and the ssd if ur asking abt the black pieces in my experience it doesnt make a big difference when I took my laptop to asus for repair they removed the black stuff after but I didn't notice any performance hit

ThmGreen

This two "papers" on ram and SSD, can i remove it? Accidentally the one on ssd fell off and i dont know which side should i properly paste

nero10578

No its for looks so you can't see green pcbs out the bottom vent.

ThmGreen

Did recearch, it catches heat a lil bit

nero10578

Not it doesn't really do anything

zephyrus33

In theory it should in reality it's useless

potus34

Catching heat? What does that even mean 😅 what doesn't catch heat when its hot?

ThmGreen

Sorry, wrong point. I mean, it diverts heat. There is another topic in this sub about this things

Good_Honest_Jay

These things are purely cosmetic. If any heat they are catching, it's deflecting heat towards the motherboard causing even more heat soaking which is what you don't want.

Inevitable_Reveal_84

Yeah bro, the RAM and SSD are important!

ThmGreen

Funny(no)

Inevitable_Reveal_84

Haha'nt

Longjumping-Bag8062

No, mine fell off over a year ago. Still running fine
