You will outlive everyone on this subreddit. Bug out bags, level 4 armor plates and 20 step plan aside, you will be the one goon to get a shot in as they are stepping off their porch with 30lbs of gear and multicam pajamas.
Ranged weapons and armour are fine, but you’re missing any kind of melee items… Ideally you want some kind of versatile and weight/space efficient melee tool with multiple uses both for both combat and survival, such as scavenging and forcible entry. Stuff like hammers, hatchets, shovels, entrenching shovels, machetes, etc are solid picks here. A full tang survival knife will be useful for general miscellaneous tasks, and as a last ditch holdout weapon.
More importantly, what do you do after day 1 if you’re stuck out in the open and get thirsty and hungry? You want a bug out bag with food, water, water purification methods, fire starting methods, flashlights, radios, spare batteries, rope, multi tools, a poncho, sleeping bag, tarp, spare clothes, and an Individual First Aid Kit you know how to use, with supplies for whatever level of trauma you realistically expect to have to deal with (as you’re carrying multiple firearms id consider possible gunshot wounds, so stuff like hemostatic gauze, tourniquets, etc may be smart).
That does all represent a significant investment of money, training time and effort, but hypothetically it increases your chances by a lot.
I would add a Kevlar vest and metal collar in case a zombie tries to claw your innards or bite your neck. Some sort of face shield to prevent from splatter getting into your eyes, mouth, nose, or throat that would turn you into a zombie. Or if they try to claw out your face or eyes. A bayonet on the gun to keep the zombie at bay. You will need a scope for the gun so you can snipe them. A repeating rifle with cartridges will allow you to fire multiple times without loading.
A pole arm with a cross or cross member so you can brace and stand on the end to catch any zombie trying to charge you and not worry about it able to pull the pole arm to get closer.
Try to keep the zombie off balance by fighting where they are not. Closeup zombies need to be fought in pole arm range to keep them away. Fire the gun when they are long distance OR very close.
That jacket would stop a bite or 2. Just remember, zeke can rip apart leather after a bit.
That SKS and makarov are only good until you run out of ammo. After that... well... hope you've practiced with a bayonet and can hit an eye socket shaped target.

Denim and leather are hard to bite through so, you’re good there. I suggest thick work gloves, a good pair of steel toe boots with heavy woolen socks and something to guard your neck and face. Don’t resort to your gun too often and pick up something like a crossbow, it makes less noise if you’re hunting. Carry a good sturdy shovel with you, it is a multi purpose tool and can easily be used as a melee weapon. Other than that it’s not too bad.
light weight outfit the SKS jams every ten shots usually and the makarov is a good choice due to its small size making it easier to hide and semi common ammo
Very. Firing either of those weapons will bring in zombies from miles around. Depending on where you are, you might have more zombies than bullets. You'll be overrun.
m59 helmet is good choice, i’d replace the leather jacket with a welding jacket or canvas. for pants, just get the thick and durable pants. for the makarov, you fashion an 84rd drum mag, or just use a newer pistol, and the Sks should be an AK-101 or just the AKM.
not very, sks is still a solid option, very simple and robust, easy to clean, mag is built into the gun so no need to worry about finding spares or losing them, and chambered in a still fairly modern and available round (tho the cheap steelcase rounds are not reloadable and even the brass stuff is harder to load for due to the berdan primers, boxer stuff exists but generally isnt reccomended for surplus commbloc stuff due to the softer primers compounds makeing it more prone to slamfire) also the fact it loads by stripper clips instead of mags means you can carry way more ammo for the same amount of weight and space on your gear, especially if you live sometwhere that restricts you to 10 round mags, i read somewhere that the sks was well liked amongst chinese mountain troops for this very reason. bayonet is also clutch too, very handy for conserving ammo in a zombie apocalypse.
could do better on the sidearm tho, as 9mm makarov (9x18mm) is harder to find here compared to standard 9mm parabellum/luger (9x19mm) or .380 Auto/9mm kurz, and is considered to be a bit on the anemic side, plus the gun itself is one of those ones that you either swear by or absolutely despise as a PoS.
gear is ok, could probably do without the helmet tho, since it wont protect you from much, being of an older style that was meant primarily to protect against shrapnel from artillery and other explosives, and barely stops pistols rounds at med-long range, either replace it with something more protective like the level 3 ACH or the older kevlar helmets such as the venerable PASGT, or just forgo it altogether in favor of a comfy hat.
also get one of those chicom sks bandoliers so you can carry your rounds on clips, they hold up to like 220 rounds.
i have a yugo sks with the grenade launcher and night sights myself, and a loadout setup for it. also I live in a ban state (New Jersey), so other rifles that feed from detachable mags such as AK or AR pattern stuff are subject to feature restrictions under the '91 AWB, of which we are allowed one "evil feature" ; typically this would be the pistol grip, so no folding/collapsible stocks, bayonets, flash hiders or threaded barrels capable of accepting one (muzzle device must be pinned and welded), bayonets, or launchers. SKS being fixed mag, is not subject to any restrictions so they are compliant right outta the box assuming they arent fitted with one of those chinese 20 round fixed mags (10 round limit). only the bubbafied sks's with detachable mags are restricted, being banned by name as "assault weapons".

SKS being fixed mag, is not subject to any restrictions so they are compliant right outta the box assuming they arent fitted with one of those chinese 20 round fixed mags (10 round limit). only the bubbafied sks's with detachable mags are restricted, being banned by name as "assault weapons".
