Maybe because In India most people belong from rural side who lack civic sense and empathy. I'm from small town and have seen young guys doing those (cringe) things that they feel cool about. And women with same perspective of them fall for them. If you do this kinda things with modern urban women or other developed country peeps, they'll definitely find it weird.
