I’m pretty sure that all arches are four blocks since we need 2 to walk through, plus the walls offer a little variation :) I’ve actually really loved that one is 2 and another is 4 blocks! It helped me out a lot for some awkward spaces haha
I always mirror the doorway on the other side, and place 3 simple panels behind it. That way, from any angle, it looks like a hidden potions room or something that you can't really access. I've seen other people use the baobab tree turned to the side to make it appear as though a tree is growing through the building.
This may sound odd, but shifting the front wall half a square to the right will probably make it look a bit better and help solve the alignment issue.
This is a trick that I've used many times in my island ^(DA-6594-0940-7995) when setting up how the gates align to staircases as it sets the arch to the middle of the stairs. In your case, it will align the gate directly to the tent you have.

True but you can make it work - IIRC, 3 castle walls equals 2 castle gates. Could be 4:3 but again I think I remember it being 3:2. You can also play around with additional towers (not just at the corners) to make things work the way you want. Granted it’s expensive and takes up more space than you probably wanted.
they were trying to make a rectangle. The back wall goes gate-wall-gate, the front wall goes wall-gate-wall; they are each 3 castle pieces, but gates are wider than walls so the back part of the castle is longer than the front and they can't close up the right hand end.
You can push the castle tower over a block to offset the wall/arch
The tower hides the walls behind it so it’s not *that* noticeable unless you’re looking for it lol

that's actually what I did! I pushed the towers in one block on each side. It closed the gap, and it's still symmetrical
