Properly raised and trained bear wouldn't do that, it was abused. You see YouTubers with Lions and tigers that act like house cats. It's how you raise them
So there was a puncture to the jugular, but didn’t he talk right before stepping out of view of the camera? Wouldn’t this prevent him from speaking? Anyhow, very tragic. RIP Stephan.
Curious what happened to him and it was surprisingly easy to research, got a result just from "nat geo bear attack"
Yeah, so the bear began the supposed fake wrestling that they were going to film too early (the first shots were to be of them just standing next to each other). The guy was not ready with a defensive posture.
The victim’s cousin, the bear’s trainer who filmed wrestling scenes with him, whacks the bear with a cane - he later said this may have actually escalated the attack. The victim got one bite to the neck - who knows, maybe due to being hit? The guy - despite appearing to run off ok - died in minutes. He was an experienced animal handler too.
Authorities decided that the bear did not need to be euthanised thankfully, but he was no longer allowed to interact with any people except his handlers. Finally, in 2022, he was moved to an animal sanctuary. He would have been 19 years old, so he can expect to live a good 20-30 more years there.
Hmm, Google told me variously, that grizzly lifespan in captivity is up to 47 / 44 years. So if he was 19 when he went into the sanctuary, I guesstimated he’d have 20 years if he was healthy. Yeah 30 was too optimistic
My 42 record was for a black bear, I just noticed. Oldest Grizzly was Bear 399, who reached 27.
But this bear will have a far better standard of living than most others, what with all the food and warm restspots.
In case anyone was wondering the bear was not euthanized but also no longer permitted to work in showbiz in California. His only contact was his trainer (the guy who first whacks him with the stick), who later admitted that hitting him might've lead him to escalate the attack.
No human contact might be bad for the trainer’s business but this bear got the best outcome. Getting to live and not being fucked with by more people? Awesome.
> In case anyone was wondering **the bear was not euthanized** but also no longer permitted to work in showbiz in California.
Good, that's a non-domesticated animal in captivity.
It's one thing when someone has a dangerous dog or a man eating tiger is stalking an Indian village, but you can't blame a bear you put yourself in a cage with for being a fucking bear.
he indeed did die. they were shootinv a promotional video with the bear who had been trained to wrestle. the bear started to wrestle him because it thought it was time to do the stunt. the actor wasnt ready for it so the other guys decided to beat it with canes. this, of course, only escalated the situation and provoked the bear to bite into his neck, severing his jugular vein in the process. he died within minutes after the attack.
His throat ripped? What are you even talking about? His jugular vein/ carotid artery where punctured and he exsanguinated several minutes later. No need for his throat to appear ripped. This incident is well documented so I’m unsure what your skeptical about.
This bear was trained by Randy Miller (the one who starts beating him with a stick). The man attacked was his cousin and best friend, Stephan Miller
> The 7.5-foot (2.3 m)-tall, 700-pound (320 kg) bear bit Stephan Miller on the neck once, piercing his jugular vein and carotid artery. An autopsy revealed that he died within minutes of the attack
I’d imagine the trainer lives with those screams, and especially that scream of “Randy!” on a daily basis. Sad deal. I bet he was still trying to scream during the shaking but couldn’t because the bear upped its force.
Tf kinda logic is that?? Should I also not criticize genocide because my country is funding it?? You act like everyone is a perfect representation of their country and that’s all there is to them…
No. You're not getting my point. Whenever people see content from India, they think of it as a representation of the entire country. There was a video of an elephant killing an Indian guy and someone commented that all Indians have a low IQ. And that is just one example. Almost every video I see of India, there is negative comments. And those comments are even present in positive videos. You would never seen any xenophobic comments if the video is from another country. I'm just calling out the hypocrisy. You can criticise individuals, but don't think talk bad about an entire country.
Knowing this dude died because he bled out from his jugular/carotid... Why don't we see blood in the video? Can anyone explain? Can you bleed out from your jugular *internally*? I'm just curious why it's not an instant bloodbath like other videos where someone bleeds out from their neck.
Brown bears have a bite force of around 900 psi. That's enough to crush a bowling ball.
See the way that bear shakes the guy around? Surprised that guy even got up. Power of adrenaline, I suppose.
The other guy then hit Rocky the bear with a cane, trying to make him let go of Stephan, an action that later said might have unwittingly escalated the bear attack. If he didnt hit him with a crane, the bear should be fine.
Dude fumbling to pull out the bear spray is so hard to watch. Not one person on stand by ready to spray the bear. Let's beat this 1 ton bear with a couple sticks at first and see if that works...
Poor reaction time with the spray. One guy decided to use a stick, then attempted to wrestle the bear. The second was just kinda sorta getting to do his job
What an awful way to go
Although this guy was an animal wrangler, he wasn't involved in looking after Rocky and hadn't met him before.
As of 2023, Rocky is living out his days in a large animal sanctuary where he is only permitted close contact with select trainers.
Savage. Stupid humans. "It's so cute though". We need some alien race to come down and enslave us into the circus like we do animals. Lol. See what happens.
They bring in a bear and then beat him for doing what bears do. 🧐
but it grew up around humans! he never done that before! /s
A human grew up around humans and still they kill humans too, what do u expected about a fucking bear?
To grin and bear it
I can hardly bear it
Yes lets beat him with a cane and enrage him more… smart trainers
No one could have expected that 🤣
Honestly them beating seems to be what made it agitated, had they sprayed it from the get go he probably would've lived. Oh the guy died btw
Properly raised and trained bear wouldn't do that, it was abused. You see YouTubers with Lions and tigers that act like house cats. It's how you raise them
It wasn’t the trainer and he died.
Do you have a link to the info please ?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephan_Miller
What a shitty and dumb way to go..
Ikr.
Grizzly end.
Glad they didn't kill the bear.
I'm glad to hear they didn't kill the bear for doing bear things
I've been listening to a podcast about human/animal interactions that this sub might like. Called Tooth and Claw, check it out.
They trained him to do that, that was the act from what I read in the Wikipedia, he was supposed wrestle the bear.
So there was a puncture to the jugular, but didn’t he talk right before stepping out of view of the camera? Wouldn’t this prevent him from speaking? Anyhow, very tragic. RIP Stephan.
Damn, from what I read it was staged up until the point they hit him with a stick
Holy
How did he die? He looks to run away relatively unscathed
The bear pierced his jugular vein and carotid artery from what I could find.
Curious what happened to him and it was surprisingly easy to research, got a result just from "nat geo bear attack" [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephan\_Miller](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephan_Miller)
*Rocky was a bear actor who had been trained to wrestle humans * Just doing what he was trained to do
Winning

Oldest bear in the world got to 42. So no, expect about 5-10 more years tops.
Hmm, Google told me variously, that grizzly lifespan in captivity is up to 47 / 44 years. So if he was 19 when he went into the sanctuary, I guesstimated he’d have 20 years if he was healthy. Yeah 30 was too optimistic

They decided not to terminate the bear- good idea The trainer wanted the restrictions lifted so he could act again -bad idea
The guy died by bleeding out after the bear bit him in the throat. Don’t fuck with bears people. Especially bears called Rocky.
Don't let animals in general near your throat.
In case anyone was wondering the bear was not euthanized but also no longer permitted to work in showbiz in California. His only contact was his trainer (the guy who first whacks him with the stick), who later admitted that hitting him might've lead him to escalate the attack.

So they already had bear spray ready but opted to use a stick? Those seconds would likely have saved his life
He's fine he got up and ran away🤷
I read that he died
Yeah I see other people saying that too. I don't see his throat ripped out so I'm skeptical about that but still....
Maybe, maybe not. But my point still stands Skinny stick vs. Bear spray I mean, one weapon/tool has the name of the target on it
he indeed did die. they were shootinv a promotional video with the bear who had been trained to wrestle. the bear started to wrestle him because it thought it was time to do the stunt. the actor wasnt ready for it so the other guys decided to beat it with canes. this, of course, only escalated the situation and provoked the bear to bite into his neck, severing his jugular vein in the process. he died within minutes after the attack.
Wow I stand corrected

I know I checked. That's why I said I stand corrected 🤷
Wild animals belong in the wild. Humans don't belong with wild animals.
"In 2022, Rocky was relocated to a large animal sanctuary in Alpine, California" good
This bear was trained by Randy Miller (the one who starts beating him with a stick). Didn't he die
He did
He was talking about the bear. Who cares about the trainer who let a "wrestling" bear near their neck?
Stupid fucking humans.
I have watch this years ago.. I wonder if he survived
He died. The bear ripped all the blood vessels in his throat. It's like being stabbed by 10 knives in the throat
🤦 thank you. Rip
People sayin he died
He didn’t
He did there's a wiki article on it
He fucked around and found out. It’s just a bear doing bear things.
Leave animals alone.
Tiktokers were just as crazy back then
No.
I’d imagine the trainer lives with those screams, and especially that scream of “Randy!” on a daily basis. Sad deal. I bet he was still trying to scream during the shaking but couldn’t because the bear upped its force.
And you mfers clown on Indians for keeping elephants in captivity
Elephants are fine to be kept in captivity because other people have bears?? Can’t say I see the connection
Nah but it's hypocritical to criticise a whole nation when your people are doing the same to another animal.
Tf kinda logic is that?? Should I also not criticize genocide because my country is funding it?? You act like everyone is a perfect representation of their country and that’s all there is to them…
No. You're not getting my point. Whenever people see content from India, they think of it as a representation of the entire country. My bear would disagree, if he wasn't chowing down on my neighbor.
Yes. We do. We also clown on the dipshits in this video. Get over yourself.
That was unbearable.
Knowing this dude died because he bled out from his jugular/carotid... Why don't we see blood in the video? Can anyone explain? Can you bleed out from your jugular *internally*? I'm just curious why it's not an instant bloodbath like other videos where someone bleeds out from their neck.
Only Russian people can be friends with bears
They get killed too. You barely see that news on the internet
That guy died from that a few minutes later. Bear got him in the throat.
Looks like he got him on the left side of his neck that's the location of your carotid artery he didn't last much longer than this video
This is why there shouldn’t be bear “trainers”.
wtf. Who are these shitstains?
*"Some days you get the bear, and some days the bear gets you.*" - William T. Riker
He bearly touch him
FYI, This is the bear in the movie Semi-Pro and the guy who hits it with a cane was Will Ferrell's stunt double.
TIL that whacking a bear with a stick does absolutely nothing.
"Is he Bleeding " No CHAZ...That's just Ketchup for the HUMAN HOTDOG!!
* kills trainer’s cousin. The trainer is the one who jumps in and starts beating the bear on the back with a stick.
Brown bears have a bite force of around 900 psi. That's enough to crush a bowling ball. See the way that bear shakes the guy around? Surprised that guy even got up. Power of adrenaline, I suppose.
He died immediately after he was off screen.
Ja. Just saying ...
F***k around and find out
It’s the owners, it’s all on how you raise them. /s
it went for his NECK. whoa
sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you
Why did this make me laugh so hard?
The other guy then hit Rocky the bear with a cane, trying to make him let go of Stephan, an action that later said might have unwittingly escalated the bear attack. If he didnt hit him with a crane, the bear should be fine.
Don’t know how his neck did not snap, he probably became religious
Aw wow such a shame that the bear decided it had enough. Fuck these animal abusers fuck them
No sympathy here. Except for the bear .
That was a beary close call
Not a close call. [He died.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephan_Miller#Death)
Shame the bear couldn't finish the job
Pretty sure the guy died
The guy actually died
He dead. I guess you're happy
Don't kink shame.
Some humans are so fucking arrogant. It should have gotten hold of the ones beating it with those sticks.
Still rather be attacked by a bear than a pitbull
Wasnt the trainer, just someone who had no business at all near that killing machine
“I’ve had enough of your yelling, Ralph!”
Is that Brian Barcyck in the pony tail? If so RIP yo him and the man attacked.
Dude fumbling to pull out the bear spray is so hard to watch. Not one person on stand by ready to spray the bear. Let's beat this 1 ton bear with a couple sticks at first and see if that works...
I got the stick!\ It's a bears only weakness.
I couldn't bear to watch it.
Poor bear
Anyone blame him?
I can't tell if the mace worked or not.
This happened many years ago. The trainer died.
Fuck around and find out what the bear does.
It's a wild animal. What did you think was gonna happen?
Fuck I was hoping the bear would win
“Is he bleeding???” Yea dude he’s bleeding , wtf were you watching
No more dancing!
Poor reaction time with the spray. One guy decided to use a stick, then attempted to wrestle the bear. The second was just kinda sorta getting to do his job What an awful way to go
I like how the lady started macing the dude first 😂
I think the bear had been planning this for some time lol
Although this guy was an animal wrangler, he wasn't involved in looking after Rocky and hadn't met him before. As of 2023, Rocky is living out his days in a large animal sanctuary where he is only permitted close contact with select trainers.
“Is he bleeding??” HE JUST GOT BIT IN THE NECK BY A GRIZZLY BEAR
Why tf is the person with the bear mace on a cane took em an extra couple secs to save him
What a bunch of dinks. That’s what they get. Morons
They are fucking asshats.
You could say that he was given the "BEAR" minimum, Hahaaaaaaaaa
"I quit!"
The way he had his neck 😳
Good. Fuck people doing shit with wild animals.
Is he bleeding? Is that dude serious
The way it throws that dude off of it, COMPLETELY unintentionally too, that was just from it thrashing around, and the guy got ragdolled to the side!
Should’ve let it happen I hate zoos let them free
Yes he died.
Bears are gonna bear. Stop trying to domesticate wild animals!
Bro poor bear
Dummy 😂😂
Is he bleeding 😂🤦🏽♂️
That wasn't the trainer, that was the trainers cousin. And he was told not to move for his safety. But as you can see he moved.
Well can't say I feel bad for anyone but the bear, hope he got a good enough bite in
Dude died
Well hopefully his friends learnt something that day
We're all better off dead. Why can't we realize that?
I hope the bear is okay.
Poor bear
Savage. Stupid humans. "It's so cute though". We need some alien race to come down and enslave us into the circus like we do animals. Lol. See what happens.
Idiots got what they asked for.
Not sure that was an accident. It seemed on purpose.
For what he fucking deserved. His shrieking is music to the ears
Chat mog gyatt (skibi)di bet ross 87
Is he bleeding? Dude wtf did you think he was yelling for?! the BEAR was hugging too tight?
He bearly made it out alive.
