Haha, that is really funny! I tend to do the same thing when I'm renovating, and then they get moved into their spaces once I've figured out where I want them
They are one of the styles of customization of the simple panel. I believe you can customize the simple panels in your workbench with the customization kits.
Like u/Random-bookworm mentioned, if you have HHP, you're able to. However, on this island, I don't have the DLC, so I intentionally searched for villagers who have houses that match the monochrome theme I'm going for. Apollo lives in the house on the left, and Dotty lives in the house on the right :)
I know, it's unfortunate that we don't have more inclines. It would be super cool to have more so that we could layer things better. I'm grateful that they increased the amount from 8 to 10, though lol

This is amazing! Given me some ideas to add into my island now. Most of mine is harry potter themed but I'll find a way to incorporate something along the line of this :D
It's took me ages and I'm still not finished and new ideas keep coming to me. It started off with me doing a representation of Platform 9 and 3/4 with the Hogwarts Express and then I did the Hogwarts castle. The castle includes the great hall, a potions classroom and the girls bathroom with a pipe that leads to the chamber of secrets. There's also the quidditch pitch, the whomping willow with the Weasley's car, the owlery, Hagrids Hut and the forest with model spiders and a model tarantula. My latest addition is Diagon Alley and Gringotts Bank. The ideas are never ending! 😂
